  1. I work in a inpatient rehab facilty. Strokes, AMA's, broken hips ect ect. It's amazing. I do everythign the RN's do except get paid less and admission/discharge paperwork. 5-7 patients a night, med pass, caths, occasional IV start, calling doctors, trying to figure out why someone is even here and making the call to send them back up to the med surg floor. Great first job imo and as close to med surg nursing as an LPN can get, it's literally the same thing as med surg but less actute obviously. We get new RNs here from the med surg floor when they get burnt out of that. In fact the only big thing I don't like about my job is that I planned to leave this otherwise boring area (Geographically) and giving up such a great job is gonna make getting the balls to move away hard :-(
  2. I am recent LPN grad and I am pretty sure I would straight crap my pants if i went straight from a school to a real ER. But I suppose some people could handle it. I suppose the risk vs reward isn't worth it here in the states as that, i believe, is impossible to do as a new grad ( or as an LPN at all in alot of places). I suppose maybe the VA in rural areas might be something that takes new LPNs in the ER because they are slow and mostly just deal with homeless, alcoholic, vets looking for a place to stay for a few nights.

The concept of the RPN is interesting to me and seems to make sense when comparing ADN Vs BSN (calling them both RNs). Given that. **** them. ADNs are just many times more amazing than most bsns here in the states imo. All they can do is teach or be a nurse manager vs an ADN and make the same cash in the mean time. screw that till your ready
  4. Ipad while working? No esbueno imo. Maybe in the future when COWs are replaced with something like that. But not yet D:
  5. I recenlty started as an LPN in a rehab unit ( go me ) and one of the questions the nurse manager asked, then had follow questions about, was how i would handle a disagreement between two staff members. Basically asking me about my interpersonal problem solving skills ect ect. Whether or not I would be the rare gossipy male LPN or if I could problem solve that stuff
