New job. nervous!
Hi all! I am a new nurse as of September and have been working in an assisted living Alzheimer unit. I got more familiar with passing meds and delegating tasks to CNA's but that's about it and im feeling like everything I learned in school is forgotten because I wasn't using that knowledge. I got a new job in a rehab facility and I was told that it is like a baby step down from med surg in a hospital. So i'm very nervous that I will look like i don't know what i'm doing! I start orientation on Tuesday but i'm thinking it might be a good idea to brush up on some things but i'm not sure where to start! any advice???

A Little Vent and A Plea For Ideas
after your first semester of LPN courses you should be able to take the test to be a CNA. at least that's how it works in Ohio. GO FOR IT!!! don't let anyone keep you from going with your gut! especially when it comes to education

interview failures and triumphs!
wow thats awful that they would basically give you the job and then change their minds. that's how i felt as well! the nurse told me she wanted to hire me but had to speak with the doctors and i never heard from them again... guess the doctors didn't like me :/

interview failures and triumphs!
and i am a different person in interviews as well. i say the wrong things alot and always leave thinking why didn't you say this or ask that. its so frustrating! and in the third interview i met one of the doctors and i said something totally stupid (he was very intimidating) and i totally BLUSHED! so humiliating.

interview failures and triumphs!
well it has only been about a week since i was last there but they have always been very quick to call back for each visit. i called three days after the last interview and left a message and still have heard back five days later. maybe im too quick to complain and ill get a call this week but since they have been so quick in the past that's why im upset over it. i just hope i get a call back to at least tell me either way! i deserve that.

interview failures and triumphs!
Hello all... Recently I interviewed at an eye surgery center. I went in for the initial interview and met the head nurse and office manager. It went great and was promising. I got a call to come back to meet another nurse. apparently it's a small place and want to make sure we all get along and like each other. understandable. So I went back and had a brief conversation with this very nice nurse who just wanted to meet me. Then I got a call back because the doctors had to meet me before they can hire me. So I get there and only one out of three is there. So I meet him and all is well. Before I leave the original head nurse tells me that she likes me and that it looks very promising for me and that they won't make me come back to meet the other doctors. I got a call back because one of the other doctors wanted to meet me before they hire me. OK. this makes four trips but I want the job badly so I oblige. As I'm leaving the fourth trip they tell me they will be in touch. NEVER got a call back. WAHHHH!!! I thought after making four trips I would get an offer on the spot but NOOOO I don't even get a call back. UNBELIEVABLE. Am I being ridiculous here or are they? Would love to hear about your experience in interviews as well!

New nurse!! Please help!!
hello! i graduated three months ago and work LTC. It is very overwhelming at first. especially the paperwork! i still have problems with what to fax where and who to call in what situation. wah.. but i PROMISE you will get it eventually. I did not feel confident for weeks when i started!! but now im to the point where im memorizing my residents medications (40 residents). and things are going so much quicker and im getting more comfortable everyday! also i worked with a nurse who had a "cheat sheet" she had all her residents on a spread sheet with what time they got medications and which ones you can bundle like you can give your 4-6 medications at 5 and your 6-8 medications at 7. and all bs and what time. and who can wait to take some of their evening meds with their night meds to save time. who is crushed and who is whole. yata yata... hope that makes sense... you will do great!

LPN's in wound care?
hello, I'm very interested in being a wound nurse. I just graduated with LPN. I'm wondering if I have to be an RN to be a wound nurse or if I can do it as a LPN? and if I can what are the steps to take and I also would like to know how it is as a wound care nurse. Is it the type of job where you go from place to place and make your own schedule or are you just employed by one company as their primary wound care nurse? also anything else I should know would be great! Thanks!

Relocating to Nashville and need advice!!!
Hello, My husband is transferring to Nashville from Ohio with for work. We have a son and two dogs (one of them is big) We want to buy a house but first we need to find something to rent for 3-6 months in the mean time. any apartment/condos that are recommended? we need something that would be good for the dogs. My next problem is I am graduating from a PN program in Ohio in September and I will be taking the NCLEX in Ohio and transferring to Tennessee. I have already been looking for jobs but I would love some advice about where to look especially because I plan on going on for my RN and would LOVE to find some where that will help pay for that. I noticed that Vanderbilt hires LPN's but does anyone know if they hire new grads and if so do they help pay for your school? Also is it hard to get on there? Because I know that a lot of hospitals don't hire LPN's anymore and when they do it's usually because someone knew someone and got them on there (LOL). I just need advice in general about jobs for an LPN. Also any other added advice about moving to Nashville would be great! Thanks so much!!!
