  1. I bet what they didn't like was a lack of a lock. These fluids are technically medications and TJC loves for all mess to be locked. A simple code lock on the warmer door could fix your issue;) Good luck!
  2. So, it is obvious from reading this and other forums the job market for RN's in San Diego is competitive. How is the nurse practitioner market? My husband has tons of family there and he wants to move back so badly, I am apprehensive. I have 9 years RN experience and a good resume but I am currently in a FNP program and he seems to think as soon as I complete the program we can move! I'm thinking I may need to get some experience first. Any feedback is welcome. I've seen post about people working as RNs because the pay is better or they simply can't find a job:(
  3. You are a bit all over the place so it's hard to follow but it does appear you are not feeling valued or respected by some. Try not to allow other's unprofessional behavior and negative attitude determine how you feel or how you treat patients. As far as whether or not others want to be a PA vs a NP, don't let that bother you either! They are obviously ignorant to the roles, let them figure it out on their own. Hope you have a better week.
  4. You never know how an abscess is going to burst!!!!
  5. Allow me to start. Yet another vag bleed. Same old routine I've done hundreds of times. Apparently this time I was a bit tired and not paying attention. I bend over to get in the bottom drawer of the vag cart, somehow not seeing the tip of the blood and mucous soaked vag q-tip the the doc so nicely left hanging over the edge. End result, vag blood and mucous on the side of my face!!!!! I'm pretty sure I used half a bottle of shampoo in my hair and scrubbed off the top 2 layers of my skin!! Your turn!
  6. Stick it out and suck it up! Keep your eye on the prize: Flight Nurse!! You got this. Think of those senseless sheet changes like you do the guy that game in via EMSA for dental pain. You'll be glad you did when you suit up to go on your first flight. Good luck.

I work 3p-3a and personally I can't wait for 1900! Day and night shifters are very different. I appreciate both for what they are. Your coworkers can make or break you no matter the shift, I'm sorry you feel night shift at your place doesn't want or care to work, the opposite is true for my ER.

Can I just say I'm sorry. Sorry u waited until 2am on a Saturday night to bring your relatively healthy kid to the ER with symptoms that have been going on for 3 days!. Sorry u didn't get the timely treatment u rightfully deserve! Sorry you had to WAIT, while more urgent matters were attended to. Sorry I didn't treat your kid like they were dying! I also recognize its MY fault that your kid has been out "all night" waiting for slow, unsatisfactory care. Sorry u feel that perhaps u should have just waited until Monday to get them in to their regular doc (hmmm). And YOU'RE WELCOME for being allowed to use me as a punching bag for your poor parenting choices! Oh, and if you aren't capable of securing you 46" television, I'm sure it's my fault it fell on your kid to start with! If the X-ray doesn't show a break why does your kid c/o pain? Lets revisit the 46" tv thing again shall we?
  9. Don't sweat the haters, they're just jealous;) Congrats and keep working hard!
  10. You need to feel valued and supported, especially as a new nurse. Get out now! You would be learning faster and gaining confidence if you had appropriate support. Do not allow these individuals to continue to steal your joy. Find another job, you deserve it and there are places that will be happy to have you!!
  11. As long as they aren't taking advantage of you I'm all for teamwork! I think your husband is concerned you do too much and that they are taking advantage. He's just being a good hubby and looking out for you.
  12. It's sounds like u need to go. It's not fair and it definitely shouldn't be this way but for your own well-being u need to leave. You will be so much happier. If you're crying every night before work it's not healthy!! You deserve to enjoy your work and feel valued. Go somewhere that you get both of those things. Good luck.
  13. You have several run on sentences so definitely edit for that. There are times the flow is a little off. Make sure if they had any specific questions or criteria that you answered them in the essay. Other than that it feels real and from the heart and that's good. It makes you a real person to them, not just another applicant. Good luck!!!!
  14. Congrats!! How exciting for you. I hope you love your new career. I've done management for the last 4 years and I realized the clinical side of nursing was screaming my name. I'm not 100% sure where I'll end up with my FNP but I'm positive it's a step in the right direction.
