  1. Pretty rough as I didn't pass my assessment and have to do it over! I cried really hard and didn't sleep well at all. I have had to pick myself up and remind myself that one do-over isn't the worst thing. I also have been having trouble with my online class......I have had many online classes and this one is the worst! The set-up is not good and the teacher has been pretty non-communicative, so I have been spending a lot of time hunting information. Add to that that in our team assignment, my partner did not get her part done until the last minute and submitted without me even seeing it! And I have a test in that class tomorrow. Next week is going to be tough.....redo the assessment, 2 clinicals instead of one (because there is a scheduling conflict with the nursing home) and an exam end of week. I am tired just thinking about it! You had 5 tests in one week? Ugh. That sounds tough. Anyway, I have had a pretty rough week this week....
  2. I feel bad for you. Can you go back to the school you went to and get some tutoring? Explain your frustration. It seems if you passed the classes you should be able to pass the test.....
  3. Okay, now I am going to vent to you! I'm one of those people who studies very hard and has a very hard time memorizing and regurgitating. I love online classes, because I can REFERENCE. But in class tests, AGH! Very hard for me. I have been this way my whole life. I have to redo my first assessment over again. I sure hope the instructor or anybody else wasn't sitting there thinking I must not have studied because there is nothing that hurts more after studying so hard and not doing well than having people judge you when it comes more easily to them. So, I winced when I read your post, frankly. Most nursing students are diligent students or they would not be there in the first place. Maybe you are blessed with a better memory. Maybe things come easily to you. I want to be spoon fed, because even when I am, most of it misses my mouth and falls on the floor and I have to reread it again anyway.
  4. Thanks for all the feedback. There seems to be a consensus!
  5. Can't you get them immediately at the bookstore?
  6. Thanks!
  7. Thank you for the encouraging words! I was feeling kind of bummed about it yesterday!
  8. I would also be interested in opinions since I am not working while in school. (We have a couple of businesses that are part-time but I am not working in the medical field). I am just curious as to other opinions about this.
  9. How do I study? Hmm....A LOT comes to mind. LOL! I read the chapter summaries and do the questions and go back and flip through the pages. For me, it seems to be mostly repetition that I need. I wish I could read it all once and have it. No such luck here.
  10. Hello All, I am in my first semester of nursing school and I have no CNA experience. I just left my job as a circulation clerk at a library. I loved my library job (which is why I stayed so long and didn't work as a CNA) but it did not offer a lot of opportunity for the future. When I took the nursing assistant class, I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do and decided to keep my library job. I really don't regret that except that I do know that all the present CNAs will get hired ahead of me later on when we graduate. That doesn't really bother me either as long as SOMEBODY will hire an inexperienced nurse, I will clean toilets or anything, just hire me. I also won't look for full time right off and I think I would probably be more likely to get hired on part time as an inexperienced nurse. Anyway, I was wondering what you know about people who have had no experience getting hired. I know myself and I think I am best off not working while I am in school. My husband works full time and we have a couple of businesses and that keeps us both busy enough. I thought I could maybe volunteer a couple hours a week at a hospital or nursing home and at least that would give me a little bit of experience. Comments?
  11. Hi. Community college is a lot cheaper and most of the time you can transfer to get your BSN after you get your ADN.
  12. Hi, My first week is over too! Whew! I'm beat! LOL!
  13. Wow. I am a brand new student but I think there must be some other way rather than that much on loans. That is a scary amount. Forgive me if you already addressed this, but have you done pre-nursing classes? I'd say do those one or two at a time at first and get a feel if this is right for you. In the meantime, get any job anywhere and live as inexpensively as possible (easier said than done, right) but I think that much in debt is a mistake.
