  1. if they both had the same exp and the only thing that differed was ADN/BSN, i would honestly hire the stronger looking person lol
  2. im in NY and i talked to an RN during my clinicals (who graduated from my ADN school) and he told me things are actually starting to get better. He even mentioned a hospital that always seem to hire new grads.
  3. true, but as time goes on, males in nursing has slowly been 'accepted' by society, so we will see more male nurses in the nursing field. Just a couple of years ago, only 2% of nurses were males and now it has gone up to 10%. Technique can always be learned (esp in nursing, because let's be honest, there's not that many technical skills to learn in nursing), but natural physical strength is something that males will be dominantly superior over females. In addition, females tend to take more days off due to illness, periods, pregnancy, which is all I have witnessed in the corporate world. But I gotta agree, female with experience is def a better investment than a male with no experience.
  4. I'm not sure what u meant by saying female nurses are the better investment, as I know more females (in general) tend to work less and take more days (even weeks) off. I come from a corporate environment, as nursing is my 2nd career, and I noticed that females took a lot more days off, as the guys rarely took a day off. And I have to disagree and say that males are just physically stronger than girls...unless the guy is like 5'7 120 lbs soaking wet lol. I would love to see normal everyday girls bench 180-200 lbs because it's not hard to find guys who can lift this much.
  5. I'm currently in nursing school and also a male, but I noticed that there are less guys that cant find jobs. In fact, every male nurse I know founds jobs pretty quick after finishing their program. Obviously there are far less males in the nursing field than females, but it just seems like male nurses have a easier time finding jobs. I ran into a male nurse during a clinical who graduated from my school (ASN) the previous year and he was talking to me and a fellow classmate. He said it would be easier for me to find jobs due to simple fact that I'm a guy. I was confused because everyone on this forum states it doesnt matter if you're a female or a male in the job market. I'm not trying to start a gender war lol Just wondering
  6. you're pretty much ignoring other people's comments and acting very stubborn. You asked if you should major in nutrition and almost everyone said no, it's a waste of money, you wont find a job. And I have to agree with them and say it is a waste of money and you should just keep going for nursing. But clearly, you are acting stubborn and none of our comments will change your mind, so just be a nutritionist lol and one day, your dream of becoming a holistic NP will come true lol sorry if i sound like an asssshole, but im just giving you my honest opinion, especially after seeing that you're just ignoring other people's comments and you're pretty much wanting a confirmation to make yourself feel good about your decision of becoming a nutritionist.
  7. a&p 1 and 2 is just memorizing just keep reading the material over and over again
  8. many hospitals do not hire LPN's or at least the ones i know in ny.
  9. lol dont listen to this person my school is ADN and NLNAC accredited and they have contract with multiple schools for BSN transition. Since you came out of a university, im guessing you have plenty of credits (including chem/bio), so it will only take u 1 to 1.5 years of extra schooling for BSN.
  10. i was in similar situation as you and im ny, as well i wrote this in another thread try ADN program that accepts pre-req gpa. I graduated with a BS and a 2.5 gpa I found one CC that accepts prereq gpa and i got in with a 3.9 pre req. It's funny how panic mode makes u study better. If I want to get my bsn, it will be an year extra since I have like over 150 credits from my Uni lol

  12. that gpa might be a little low for ABSN or even an ADN program. I would suggest re-taking A&P 1 and 2, since those 2 classes are the most important. Try and get at least a B+.
  13. u guys will get your acceptance letters in april just like the last couple of years
  14. lol i get the occasional focker jokes, but it's all good. TBH i dont think i want to be an RN for more than 5 years. It's just a stepping stone for me.
