  1. Do you have to cite that the school was online? Or is it just the university name?
  2. For the Splenda Interested: Local groups are concerned about Splenda expanding its sole US plant in Alabama because of environmental issues. Environmental Concerns over Splenda Plant in Alabama "But they also noted that the company's secrecy about the making of Splenda has only aroused more suspicions." "Phosgene, which is derived from chlorine, is usually made on the site where it's used, primarily because of safety issues involved in storing and shipping it. How much of a hazard these chemicals actually pose to the surrounding community of McIntosh could depend on how much is on site and how it's handled. Tate & Lyle officials would not even acknowledge that the chemicals were part of its process. "
  3. I saw this the other day after DVRing it. I thought it was ok. The comedy left me a little wanting but I found the interactions between all the characters to be really good. Though I was shocked that all they did was complain ALL the time.. :-)
  4. Well that is great news for you! Congrats! I am surprised that they are getting away with that kind of marketing? They seem to be walking a fine line. I guess the flip side of this whole Splenda Mess is that at least you understand that it is an artificial sweetener. I was reading an article that reported about almost 50% of people in a survey thought Splenda was natural!
  5. I had mine out, if I can remember correctly, when I was 20. Some of my friends had them taken out even later. What an expereince! Not too much fun. I actually tried to tough it out nad went on a trip right afterwards. Didn't eat anything and ended up having coffee to try and stay awake. End result, dehydration. That is not a good combo...
  6. Yeah, I did see that. But that doesn't mean that the dieticians still didn't do that. Just that The US-SA publicized it. I found it humorous to begin with :chuckle: but also there is some truth to it. They are marketing an artificial sweetener directly at children. A little weird don't you think? I understand the stats and the US too. A shame, thats why I was really interested in that study that was talked about earlier in this thread. Shame that person ran away..
  7. Heh, I was curiosu if any of the ER crowd started watching "House." I haven't been able to catch an episode but I heard it was good.
  8. Hey KPrice! I saw an article this morning that I thought you might be interested in seeing: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050324/dcth023_4.html
  9. Well, congratulations to you! With all the news about Splenda and their lawsuits I became more interested. I have stayed away from artificial sweeteners but I know several people who use them including my family. So I was just looking for more information. Do you have links to any of those findings by chance?
  10. Larry, where did you go? Sounds like you have more of a problem with the politics and representation associated with nursing than the actual nursing. Or am I reading wrong. Several other nurses have posted that the job is great and that as long as you can handle the stress, it is very rewarding. Any follow-up since your last post?
  11. I apologize for being a bit off topic but that post about a Japanese study about Splenda sounds quite interesting if it is true. But I guess we aren't going to get that link. I was wondering if you have been able to find anything about studies on Splenda? I would appreciate any help a lot. Thanx in Advance!
  12. Do you have a link to an article for that? That would be very interesting to read.
  13. What are the most common shifts, hours and days a week? Sorry, just curious.. :)
  14. Heheh....thanx a lot. That was really funny...
  15. Not the Caffeine? Interesting. Well, at least you seem to have solved the problem. So Stevia is an herb? That sounds good and healthy. I will have to look into it since sometimes these things are misleading. Like Splenda being derived from Sugar? As far as I heard Splenda is just another manufactured chemical, it is not linked so closely to sugar as they are trying to make it appear. I actually came accross an article about this yesterday: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050201/od_nm/food_splenda_dc_2
  16. Coffee does that to me too sometimes. But isn't that the most likely from the caffeine? So I take it that Stevia is another artificial sweetener like Splenda and such? Is it in powder form? I thought I heard someone talking about it being Liquid?!?!
  17. heheh.... classy. :)
  18. I kinda have a different opinion about smoking. Personally, I enjoy smoking... cigarettes, cigars, even hookas. There is something very relaxing about smoking that you can partially blame on nicatine, but I think I just like the act of smoking. If there was a cigarette that was not addicitive and horribly bad for you I would probably continue to smoke. But, unfortunately there isn't so I smoke only occasionaly. Anyone see where I am coming from?
  19. Aww... well that sounds really nice and welcoming. Good for you. Please share more stories from your first few days, would love ot hear about them!
  20. What is Stevia? I have seen that mentioned a couple times but don't know exactly what it is? Gotta be careful with artificial sweeteners, a lot of people I know don't even realize that Splenda is an artificial sweetener because of the misleading tagline, "It's made from sugar so it tastes like sugar". There are even some lawsuits being filed against them for improper marketing. Anyone hear about that? btw - I am drinking mountain dew right now becuase of all of you.. :)
  21. Well put TriageRN...
  22. I am surprised to see how many of you are choosing mountain dew. I thought there would be more coffee drinkers?!?! You know - dark black coffee, huge starbucks coffees with milk and sugar or nutrasweet or splenda... I thought htat was the waker-upper of choice. Surprising.
  23. So, rumor has it that you all work long hours. How do you all stay awake so long? Tea, Coffee, Red Bull? Is your caffeine tolerance through the roof? Just some light discussion... :)
  24. I would be scared of a robot in there. I would be scared of the Doc yelling at the robot in there...thats just asking for trouble.
  25. Heh, quite amusing. Witty, intelligent, and enjoyable. I would give him an A as well.
