  1. i was circulating today. i honestly forgot to do a final count in a lady partsl hysterectomy case. the scrub nurse, who did not call my attention to do a last count, i assume forgotten it or just did not care at all. i am stressed at home right now and there is nothing i can do. although the 1st count with full instrument count was done, i still feel uneasy and i feel so irresponsible today. im only 6 months in the OR and i am scared of law suits! the scrub nurse was a senior nurse, she should know better. it is a team work though... sigh*
  2. If we were in a perfect world I will definitely say YES! Where your patients and their families do not treat you as a slave and appreciate you, where management approves all of your requested vacation time, where nobody gets sick during Christmas, where all your co-workers's attitudes are all sunshine and ******* rainbows! So, if I were given another choice do I want to be a nurse again? my answer is NO.
  3. Thank you for this reply. I hope all nurses that I work with are like you. Nurses should stick up with each other!
  4. spend all my hard earned money to do stuff that i enjoy such as shopping and travelling!
  5. So I am a rookie at work. Most of the nursing staff are really nice and some surgeons too. But there are surgeons who are really an ass to new staffs. Like for an example this ortho surgeon. I am sorry that in the country where I did my nursing education or even a part of our culture, we were not trained to question a doctor, because we respect them and their judgement. SO this ortho surgeon has been an ass every time I am working with him. He is making me run and get stuff that he does'nt really need. Even though at the back of my head I am like "WHY THE **** DOES HE WANT THIS?!" I know I need to get rid of that habit, but this ONE is making it so ******* hard. I am new some procedures I am not familiar so I do not know if he really needs something or is just playing and making bets with the others who are scrubbed. It's annoying and ******* humiliating! and I HATE MYSELF COZ I DO NOT HAVE THE GUTS TO TELL HIM TO **** OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Give me a list of your pet peeves about new nurses that are rookies in the OR.
  7. I am thinking of buying a compression stockings to wear at work. My legs get really tired and sore after work and I just want to take care of my legs and also prevent some varicose vein in the future. Any advice on what brand to buy? 15-20mmhg? or 20 above is better?
  8. Thank you all for your kind words. It uplifted my spirit Tomorrow will be another day. Ortho service, YAY? NAY?
  9. in my work place, its the nurse, anesthesiologist and RT. If more help needed, we page for nursing attendants.
  10. I am still on probation period and it worries me that, because of my personality, they will decide not to keep me when my probation period ends. I describe my self as an introvert person. I am shy, soft spoken and a very laid back person. I love my job and I enjoy what I do. The charge nurse can even count on me when they need someone to stay for OT. That's who I am. My skills varies every day :-) When I work with people who are bossy, I become submissive and my brain just stops working. I turn into a robot. I do not think at all, I just wait for their commands. Which at the end of the day, makes me feel like crap and think that I did so horrible today. On those days that I worked with people who do not see me as a rookie, I become more independent and very efficient. I feel very proud and I go home HAPPY. Also, changing into another service after being in one service for 3 weeks, makes me feel like I am back to zero again. Has any of you felt this on your 2nd month in the OR?
