  1. I have 2 clinical days, 6 hours each day. I also have an online class that I do a clinical when I have the time. I have to get 24 hours of clinical time in for that class by a certain date. Going in now for an 8 hour clinical for that class. =)
  2. December 2013 with my BSN!!..then on to a graduate program...so it doesnt end yet
  3. I just finished my first semester with a 3.56 GPA (3A's and 2B's).. I found that if I put the time in to read the material and understand it, it came back to me while I was taking the test. There was one class where I could have gotten an A instead of a B, but I was slightly worked to the bone during one test that week and kinda gave up on it. It all comes down to how much you want to work for it and how you as an individual learn. I studied alone whenever my daughter was napping or down for the night. It is very possible, just have to put in the work. Good luck!~
  4. I have a daughter that just turned one. In my first semester, I was fortunate enough that my Mother would watch her when I was at school and when my fiance couldn't, so no daycare. When I didn't have anyone to watch her, I would stay up with her and play, and then study on her naps and when she went to sleep ( I usually stayed up until 1am finishing up what I needed to get done). I found that this is what worked best. Any chance I got I would go home to see my baby and fiance, no going out with classmates and no study groups except for the rare occasion. However, my relationship with my fiance has changed because of shcool, he knows that I have to put school before him and can spend time with him when I have a break. Its not easy, but we make it work. Now that I am on break, our relationship is back to normal and things are great, you just have to let your other half know that is not forever, and once its over things will be way better than before. Always remember that you just have to hang in there, its only a short time, and it sure does fly fast!!~
  5. I just finished my first semester. I had a binder, notebook and folder for each class (Each course had its own color so i wouldnt get confused, five total). I found that this helped me stay organized, but ultimately its up to you. Whatever works best for you is what i would stick with! Good Luck!
  6. I think many people are depressed, worried, nervous, and so on when they are in school. My mom is a nurse, and I am in my 1st semester of nursing school. When she started out, she had two kids to raise on her own and didnt have any other options but to go to nursing school, she did it out of necessity. After 16 yrs on the job, she says that she would never change it for the world. As I progress through my BSN program, I honestly can say that I dont know that nursing is right for me, but I know there is a reason I am here. I have a daughter, and I know that I not only need to do this for me, but for her too. After graduation there is no promise that I will love nursing, but I know that I have busted my butt thus far to get here, and Im not about to give up now. You never know, even though you are having mixed emotions now, maybe it will be all worth it in the end. Good Luck

I'm not a very social person either. I've just started my program and so far its fine. I have found that even thouh I don't go out of my way to spark up a conversation, usually someone around me will even if its just to ask a question. I found a study group by being paired up with a person for a health lab, and was asked to join the rest of her friends to study. When the teacher told us to pair up I just kinda sat there and looked dumb lol. You don't have to be extremely social to make it in nursing school. You have to know what you are doing. From what I have been told those that aren't very social in the begining turn out to extremely social by graduation. Its just how it works.
  8. I haven't started my program yet (only 8 days left!!), but my friend that just finished nursing school gained 45lbs. She started out a thin girl, and had always been thin since we were young, but said under the stress she just turned to food. Of course this doesn't have to be the case for you. I am heavier, and I have implemented a plan where I have already lost 8lbs. I wanted to get into the habit of eating better so when school did start I didn't fall into my old habits *(which involved lots of emotional eating.) I know that there will be times where I will slip up but that doesn't mean I can't pick up where I left off. My goal is to lose 50lbs by the end of my 16 month BSN program. Good luck!..and congrats on being accepted!
  9. How important are study groups in nursing school? I start my BSN program in 8 days () and I have been wondering this. I'm more of a do it alone kinda girl, but I read so much about study groups helping people pass, or they wouldn't have passed if it wasn't for their study group. I have an eight month old daughter, so study groups really aren't an option for me. Has anyone studied alone and been successful enough to not be completely overwhelmed? Any tips for studying by yourself? Thanks all :loveya:
