Registered nurses reach labor agreement with 10 Florida hospitals
Does any one know if Doctors Hospital of Sarasota has publicized their RN wage scale? Since they are now Union, this should be made public, correct?

VA Hiring Process
So my wife had a phone interview 3 and a half weeks ago and she has not heard anything. Finally she called and left a message with the person who set up the interview but could only leave a VM and that was 2 days ago without a response yet. Is it a good or bad sign that she has not heard anything one way or another. I would think that if she was not selected, she would know right away but then again this is the government so the waiting continues.

VA Hiring Process
I spoke to the Nurse recruiter in the Minneapolis VA. I volunteer there so I decided to just go up and have a brief chat. She stated that the "NLN" or "CCNE" requirement is not waived by them but it depends on the VA you are applying as they each have different rules as to whether they want to waive or not.

Is NLNAC or CCNE required for VA Hospital RN's
Wife is in a situation where she has 15 very successful years of experience as an RN and has an ADN but her school was only regionally accredited and approved by the state board of nursing. I just spoke to a recruiter at the Minneapolis VA and she said it is each VA center's call whether to allow that waiver. The Minneapolis VA will not waive. In my opinion they are missing out on some very great talent.

VA Hiring Process
Update: Wife had a phone interview for an out of state VA position a little over 2 weeks ago. Now the waiting..... Is no news good news? I suppose it is hard to read into these things. Would they let you know you were not selected right away? I will add though that prior to the interview, she had discovered that her Associates of Nursing degree was from only a regionally accredited and State approved college and NOT an NLN accredited college. She let the person who was setting up the interview know right away and they still went through with the interview. Now... for another RN position she just applied too she stated "No" to the question if her education was from a NLN accredited school. She got a NOR back the first day after it closed that she was ineligible. She emailed back the recruiter challenging that since per the VA Handbook, that can be waived as long as the college is regionally accredited and approved by the State board of Nursing and the candidate has appropriate experience. She has not heard back from the recruiter. Personally, they are losing out on some high quality nurses if they stick to that "NLN" requirement, but the fact it can be waived they should change the assessment questionnaire.

VA Hiring Process
Update: wife received a call today from HR for a position that closed almost 3 weeks ago in which there had not been any kind of notification of results. So the call was surprising. The HR person asked her if she was still interested in the position and asked if there were any questions she had about the position. The HR person then told her that the hiring manager would be contacting her but did not give any timetable nor did my wife ask. I consider this a positive development. I hope in this case that the hiring manager has already reviewed her application and asked HR to verify her interest in the position before making contact.

VA Hiring Process
Stumbled across the forum and appreciate all the good information. Ok, my wife is not one to do these types of things but I thought I would as I find it informative. Wife has decided to apply for a VA RN job. So far she has applied to 3 different positions in 3 different areas of the country. The hometown position had mutiple openings and she received the " eligible - referred to selecting official" 3 days after the closing. I thought was pretty fast but it has been almost 4 weeks now and not heard anything further. Another position a week after closing, she received a NOR only stating she was EL (eligible for the position) - that was just recently and nothing further since then. The final position it has been 10 days since closing and not received any notification of results yet. I asked her if she wanted to call the HR lady for any of these and said no she does not want to bug them and they have my resume and application and will call me if they want. If it were me I would call just get a timeline but then I am not a very patient person to begin with. Anyway, hopefully she will get an interview soon and by reading the comments here, it has helped a lot knowing what to expect.
