  1. I completed my pmhnp post masters certificate in 4 semesters, at Eastern Kentucky university. Cassie
  2. I started in pain management as a new grad and have been here for about 8 months. I took this job basically because I could not find a job out of school and the dr here was nice. I did not have any experience in pain management. I'm still learning each day. Overall I like it. I get to do all sorts of injections, that I learned how to do on the job. The med management patients are pretty easy for me because I can't write for schedule IIs, so the dr takes care of those. If you have any specific questions let me know. There are probably a lot of factors to determine if you'll like it, but from personal experience I do think it's a great place to begin as a new grad.
  3. Thanks Tammy and Boston FNP. I did ask one more time if they could come closer to matching my current salary. She again said they do not negotiate. I know 2 nps that work for this organization and they were started at $33.00/hour, bc they had been nurses longer than me. It's quite ridiculous! I did NOT take the job! There are 2 main healthcare organizations in this town and it's an over saturated market, so I think they both feel they can pay whatever they want! I have to drive 45 minutes outside the city to get $36/hour. I'll definitely be moving when a better opportunity with more pay comes along!! I appreciate everyone's tips and advice!!
  4. Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it! I think the interview went well, but they always do. Hopefully, I will hear back from them soon! Thanks for all your advice!
  5. I graduated from FNP school in May 2012 and took my boards and passed a couple months later. Since then, I have been going on job interviews with no luck. My last RN job was at an ENT clinic which I loved! I landed an interview at a different facility in an ENT clinic. So, not only do I need this job, but I'm pretty sure it would be a good fit for me. I am needing advice on how to "sell" myself. I had an ENT interview in the past and it went well, but they went with someone with experience. Also, this position may involve surgical assisting, I am not sure yet. I would love that as well, but my experience is limited. I am intelligent and love learning, reading etc. so I am confident I can handle it. But, other NP/PAs with experience keep getting chosen over me. All of my past interviews have went well, but I know I need to do or say something different this time, because I really need/want this job. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you, Cass
  6. Thank you guys! I really appreciate your advice! My interview was today and I think it went well! Fingers crossed :-) Thanks again!!!
  7. I will be going on my first job interview as an NP this week and would love some advice. I am not sure what they are going to ask me? And I don't really know what all I need to ask them. I graduated in May from an FNP program and this job is at an ENT clinic. I spent the past year working at an ENT clinic as an RN. Any advice at all is appreciated!! Thanks!!
  8. I just got my FNP and in May and am now certified by the AANP. I too am interested in functional/integrative medicine. But, I have no formal training in that area. I do a lot of reading and research on this type of medicine though. I don't even really know what the next step is. I don't know if I need further training or what? If anyone has suggestions..please let me know. Thanks!
  9. Good luck! You will do great!!!
  10. Tina, Thanks for your advice and support, I really appreciate it! I took and PASSED the AANP on friday! Woot Woot! So HAPPY!!
  11. Reeya, Have you taken your boards yet? I will be taking the AANP at the end of August! I have been using the Zerwekh questions book. I think they are harder than the Hollier book. I had a friend take he AANP about 2 years ago and she said she had several questions straight out of the Zerwekh book! If you have taken your boards please let me know what you think worked best!
  12. nikkiv731, I am also schedule to take the AANP exam on Aug 24th! I have a solid study plan for almost everday until then too! I am so nervous! If anyone has any advice on what they feel helped them on the test the most, I would love to hear it! I have mutliple study sources that I am using, but I would love to hear what worked for others!
  13. I still have a few more weeks of study left and I am still feeling unprepared! I have listened some to the fitzgerald and hollier audio cds. I also have the fitgerald and leik review books. I started taking questions this week out of the Zerwekh and Claborn books and I am not scoring too well. I am going to continue studying everyday, but I didn't know if anyone has taken this exam and has any advice, maybe on what materials they feel prepped them the best etc. Thanks, Cassie
