  1. I thought I had posted a comment but I don't see it? I wanted to say thank you for your responses carachel2 and steffyh. I've been playing phone tag with a recruiter to discuss this position doing in home assessments. Have you started yet steffyh? If so, how do you like it?
  2. Steffyh or carachel2, Was as all of your training online or did they fly you somewhere to train you? Do you feel like they have prepared you well? I understand that these position are to do assessments but what exactly are these for? Can anyone explain? I'm thinking about applying for a per firm position for united health group, just wanted to find out a little more if possible. I have been working an an NP for 1 1/2 years and looking for something extra. I see that your training isn't until this weekend, let me know how it goes! Thank you!!
  3. Sha-Sha RN, I think that it is a reasonable concern about possibly losing some of your primary care knowledge. If you don't plan on working in primary care ever, then I don't think it will be a problem. I am an FNP and I never actually wanted to work in primary care, so it doesn't really bother me. I love working in a specialty! Right now, I only see followup or established patients. I am not seeing new patients yet, but I am told that I will be eventually. I think the doctor is just going easy on me :-) I think that'll vary depending on where you work though. We only take patients that have a referral, so that helps to "weed" out more of the drug seekers, although we still get some that slip through. I believe that the billing is done under the physician, unless he is on vacation. I hope this helps! Good luck with your job interviews!
  4. Thank you everyone for your comments! I currently make $36/hour, so it is not an extremely drastic drop in pay. I live in Missouri and the cost of living is low here, so I expect to be on the lower end of pay. I certainly don't feel that $31.00 an hour is fair though. I really dislike my current job though and there hasn't been many other jobs in the area that I thought I would be a good fit for. I am still considering this job, just maybe as a stepping stone for a better opportunity down the line. When I call her back tomorrow, I will once again ask if they can come close to what I am making now. I agree Sydney but I think the RN pay around here is much lower than the national average as well and I feel pretty desperate to get out of my current position. Alicia, I think all the other benefits are comparable and there will be no pay increase once I am on my own. I currently work in a pain management clinic and this position is for an inpatient diabetic position. Thanks!
  5. I got a phone call yesterday, which was a job offer. When she tells me the hourly pay of $31.00/hour, I was so shocked! I am really wanting out of my current job and I think this job will be a good fit for me. But, that would be a huge pay cut for me! I asked if it was negotiable and she said that "they" usually don't like to negotiate. I told her I didn't think I could take it because I make much more than that. I ended up telling her that I would think about if for a couple of day. I am wondering what I should do? She didn't seem to care that I currently make more. I have not been an NP for that long, but I would still expect more than that!! Should I try to see if she'll negotiate when I call her back? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
  6. I graduated last year and have not begun working as an NP yet. I recently interviewed at a private practice clinic. They are a new practice and they have one dr. and no midlevels. The office manager does not know a lot about hiring an NP, so I need to figure everything out! I just applied online for my NPI #. And I told him that I needed to work for 6 months before applying for my DEA (I live in MO., does anyone know if I am right)? Also, he seems pretty clueless, so what should I say about the collaborative agreement, surely the Dr. is aware that they need to write one up?? Any help or advice is appreciated! Also, is there anything else I need to do? I really need this job, so I have to get all this stuff figured out! Thanks!
