Has anyone failed the PMHN (RN) exam?
Thank you for making this post. I’ve been searching for extra study material and haven’t found much info. My coworkers all have said I don’t need to study much, but personally I have to study. Lol, anyway I will look into that website

UNM FNP Program Summer 2020
Hi all, just wondering if you all have had your interviews and how they went? Mine isn’t until January 17th.

UNM FNP Program Summer 2020
Hi all, I finally got my interview! I was so worried. So I was told most everyone would interview and then they would make final decisions. So when I met with the advisor for program she said many of their students work full or part time throughout program. I want to try to work since I will receive tuition reimbursement from my employer. The unit based educator at my work is in a full-time doctorate NP program and has made it work for the last couple years.

UNM FNP Program Summer 2020
Hi! I didn’t apply to fnp, but I did apply for the PMHNP at UNM for 2020. For my program the advisor said last year there were about 40 applicants and about 16 accepted (some post masters). I guess it depends on applicants how competitive the program is, but it seems like all the MSN programs have small numbers; only 13 grads for fnp in 2018. My advisor also said most everyone will be asked to interview. I’m dying to find out and know for sure. Good luck!

Using ebooks vs. textbooks
I use ebooks on my nook, but would not use text ebooks. I like to highlight and write notes, tablets will let you do those things, but it's not the same. It depends on how you study. If these are your text books for the whole time of your nursing program I would buy the physical copies. Some libraries offer rentals on kindles or nooks, if your library does you might want to try that. There's also free reading apps... I know barnes and noble nook currently has a promotion for trying out their free reading app- they give you 8 free books (worth try to see how you like e-reading.)

Fall 2012 Jitters!
I'm very excited too! My job ended about 2 weeks ago, so I have sooo much time to just think about what it will be like to finally be starting the program. My orientation is Thursday and the wait it killing me.

HESI for CNM Nursing Program
I was also planning on UNM with CNM for backup. I took my A&P's at UNM with a male professor who was the only (and probably still is) the only A&P professor. I thought he was a very fair professor and would recommend him. At CNM I took micro with Heather F. (not sure if allowed to use full names) but she is probably one of the best instructors at CNM. The classes are difficult and many students complain, but I find that simply reading the books helped me. I think both programs are great, I was not accepted on my first attempt to UNM and didn't want to keep spending money on the application fee. I'm only in dosage and calculation so far, so I can't say much about the CNM program. Every one tells me it's in a huge transition right now. I would get the course work done for both schools, and try to squeeze in the NA course at CNM and the new Patient Care Tech class they offer, that will get you some experience and with the PCT class you could start working in a hospital. I would also work really hard on that GPA, GPA is the most important for both schools, and will also help you to get any nursing scholarships when you're in the program.

HESI for CNM Nursing Program
Hi, The Hesi covers Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocab & General Knowledge, and Math. I applied for the summer 2012 semester at CNM with all the points for GPA and received an 90.5 % on the Hesi. I was only accepted as an alternate and never received a seat in the class. I retook the Hesi and earned a 95.5 placing me in the highest point earning available with the reapplication point and received a seat for the fall 2012 program. So I would recommend taking it early and making sure you get the most points for the Hesi, and also taking the new classes they added to gain more points. The program seems to be getting more competitive. Good luck with your pre-reqs.
