  1. They will do the drug test during the physical.
  2. I just got my job offer! Does anyone know how much is base pay? I'm guessing it's around $22/hr. Also, loan repayment? I would like to know before I look at apartments, but I didn't want to ask and sound greedy
  3. Yesterday, I received an email to submit references, but nobody has contacted me. That's a good sign right?
  4. I interviewed with Saint Joes 2 days ago and still haven't heard back. I thought the interview went really well, but I'm baffled why I haven't heard back yet. Should I count myself out?
  5. Just curious, but for those accepted to the FNP program, what was your GPA? Can you work during the program?
  6. Thanks guys! I like to know about what to expect ahead of time. I'll try to get lots of practice. I'm worried about counting the apical pulse on an infant, ahhh... their little hearts go so fast!
  7. My health assessment course doesn't begin until January, but I was wondering how skills, such as counting pulse, are graded? If you don't count pulse exactly as is are points taken off? I'm already practicing with my stethoscope, since I'm in an accelerated program. I wasn't expecting it to be so tough. I have the Littmann Cardiology III steth, and hearing doesn't seem to be much of a problem. It's just keeping up with counting.
  8. Same here. I sent you a pm. :)
  9. Alg1991, it says your inbox needs to be emptied, in order for me to reply!
  10. Tinker88, check your inbox :)
  11. Thanks for the link Tinker! UTHSC has a DNP Neonatal program now. That is so exciting. I'm hoping that I won't be in too much debt to apply after graduating!
  12. UTHSC has a BSN program? I so wish that I had known that. So far I'm happy with my selection though. We will have our degrees sooner!
  13. Oh wow, thanks for informing me, since somebody had told me otherwise. I'll look into those apartments. I'm aiming for under $600 a month, but if I must $650. This is why I need a roommate, hint hint
  14. Are any of you Germantown students in need of a roommate? I plan to live at Lincoln on the Green, which is only a few miles from campus. I figure that it might be more convenient to live with somebody else in the program. I have 2 indoor cats, Henry and Kitty, who are incredibly clean and friendly. I'm a really clean and organized person, so you don't have to worry about me, except during test time. Let me know, if you're interested!
  15. I've talked to a lot of NPs and I know a lot of people in the field. I also do far better in science classes than I do in English classes. I'm just looking for a way to combine my two interests, because it would be a shame to give up one for another.
  16. I wish I could help, but I'm just starting nursing school. We seem a lot alike. I used to take anti-anxiety meds, but I seem to have it under control now. I'm a perfectionist, so I worry about detail. I hope you get the answers you're looking for. :-)
  17. My first degree is in English, because I absolutely enjoy translating and analyzing texts, specifically medieval morificecripts. I actually did my senior thesis on medieval bedside manner through literature. However, I decided to apply to an accelerated nursing program, which I will begin in August. I was torn between nursing school and a master's degree in applied linguistics, but I admire medical professionals and it has always been my dream to be a nurse practitioner. In a way, I am still torn, because I'm not sure how much research I will be able to do as a nurse practitioner. I feel that I would be bored without research, but at the same time I'm attracted to the hands-on aspects of being an NP. Thoughts?
  18. Congrats, you guys! I'm not sure, Tinker. I hadn't heard that, but traveling to Jackson would be fun. I just found out that the Germantown campus has interlibrary loan, so I'm ecstatic, over all things. Haha. I love research and books.
  19. Thank you so much for the info, Tinker! I was hoping that somebody would get more information about orientation. I would be totally fine with orientation in person! I've never been on the campus, so I'd really like to be there before moving. I'm excited!
  20. Your chances should be fine, if you're applying to a private university or have plenty of volunteer experience. Be prepared to explain your grades, as the school might ask you about the W and F in an interview.
  21. For whatever reason, it won't let me send any more private messages. If you want me to reply to any thing private, message me an email address and I'll get back to you.
  22. Well, it could be that you get the bill, but you have by a certain date to pay it, such as at the beginning of the semester. My current school bills my account when I register, but my scholarship (and Stafford) money isn't sent to the school until August. I wouldn't worry! I can forward you the lengthy message she sent to me.
  23. Welcome back, alg1991! I did speak to the program coordinator. It's $495.00 per credit hour, and she said to put aside 5k to 7k for additional fees and expenses. We should receive a bill in the mail after registration.
  24. I'm not sure, but that's what I was thinking. I was told yesterday that we register around April 18th. We register with the help of the program coordinator, so I bet you can ask then!
  25. Subjects for Textbooks | The Union Book Project I found what seems to be our class schedule for Fall. You just go on the Germantown bookstore page and click by subject, not by semester. :) Oh wow, check this out.
