NJ Board of Nursing - What the Heck?
Call the acting director of the Consumer Affairs and speak to whoever answers the phone there. I Have done this twice. Once after waiting many weeks for a clinical practice letter and once after waitng 7 weeks for my ATT. Both times I had amazing results. Make sure you stress the frustration youve had with dealing with the BON. If enough of us start to call maybe something will be done. Just last week I sent a letter to both the Consumer Affairs dept. and the Gov. I really hope somebody tries to fix the problem. It has been 3 weeks since Ive passed my boards and I also have a job lined up, but once again I am waing on the board of nursing. I need my license in hand. I will probably be calling the acting director again, very soon.

Failed NCLEX- PN last week.. needing HELP PLEASE!
Just remember that the NCLEX is an application based test. You already have all the knowledge you just need. Just take your time on the questions and apply it. Figure out what the question is asking and what it expects you to do. Prioritize, rember ABCs or the heirachy of needs and that Safety always comes first. Pharmacology, know the prefixes and suffixes of major groups and their nursing considerations. (Parins, such as heparin, you need to watch for bleeding. Check lab values prior to administering to make sure they are not at risk) You can do it just dont get discouraged! Good Luck and dont give up!!

HELP!! Feeling flustered and overwhelmed!
Dont worry about being a year plus out. I just retook the NCLEX-pn because I let my licensed expire in 2000. I have been out of school since 1991, so if I can pass so can you. I think you can go to the local library for some of the review books, if not try to find somebody close who has them and borrow them. I dont know where you are but I would be willing to give you mine. Once you have them just set some time aside everyday. Give yourself a reasonable goal, like 2 hours a day Monday- Friday. Answer the review questions , at least 50 a day. As you get closer to test day increase the amount of questions to at least 100 per day. Try to get the discs that go with the books so that you can get used to answering them on the computer. Learn your lab values and learn to prioritize. You'll be fine, just dont panic.

Took NCLEX today...how accurate is PVT?
I was very skeptical about the PVT. I was in a similar situation, I took the exam on the 29th. I was so sure I failed. As soon as I got home I did the PVT got the good pop-up and was leary about believing it. 2 days later I got the unofficial results from Pearson and I did indeed pass. Congrats, you are a nurse!!!! I have yet to hear of it being incorrect!

NCLEX tomorrow/4th attempt
Remember your priorities. Always do an ABC check on the aswers. TAke your time and first rule out the obvious anwers. I used the exam cram and that was one of their tips. They also said that if you truely do not have a clue go with either the answer with the most info or letter C. Always remember safety first. You have all the info you need, just take your time and let it come to you!! Good luck!!

Devastated
badgirl, if in fact you did fail you will get a report of sorts from pearsonvue showing your strengths and weaknesses. Use this report as a starting point for adapting your studies. You made it through nursing school so you have all the knowledge in your head and the ability to apply it. You can do it!!! Use all different materials because each one offers something different. Set aside a certain amount of time every day. You will pass next time!!!!

Im in the same boat a you nurse. I took my nclex-pn at 1pm yeasterday, June29th. I felt like there was no way I could have passed, but I keep getting the good pop-up. I am more optimistic than when I left the testing center, but not convinced. Good luck to you. Hopefuly we can get early results soon.

Does anyone know if the pearson vue trick actually works?
I used the exam cram, a mosby and a saunders. I origanlly got my licened in 1991 and I let it lapse in 2000, so I had to take a refresher and the nclex again. It is so different now. It was paper and pencil then and was knowledge based as opposed to applicaltion based. It felt like I was teaching myself the whole program. There is just so much more to have to know now. I would suggest for anyone in a similar situation as I am to take a review. The books aregreat. but I think I may have needed a bit more.

Does anyone know if the pearson vue trick actually works?
I left the testing center about 2.5 hours ago. Starting from the very first question I felt like I was in trouble. After the 85th question I was nervous to hit next and for good reason, when I did the test stopped. Ive been trying the pearsonvue trick and it will not let me reregister, but Im pretty sure I failed. It was so hard. Oh well keeping my fingers crossed.
