I graduated with my BSN in August 2010 and went immediately into the MSN program. I just graduated in May with my MSN and yesterday passed my AANP certification exam. People have differing opinions on working between, but I will share, my experience was that the first year of the MSN was most intimidating. You will have to work harder and review more, because you will not have had time to master all that you learned in your undergraduate program BUT you CAN do it and do it well. The other key piece of information you need to consider is that there is a move to require a DNP for NP practice by 2015. If you start now, you may possibly be able to complete your program and be grandfathered in under the old criteria. Whatever you decide, make sure you follow your passion and it will be a win for you! Good luck!

it may seem like you are paying for a service, yet doing the work yourself, but truly, by choosing your own preceptors, you will have control over where you go and the quality/caliber of the person(s) who will mentor you trough those 600 hours. I just graduated from an FNP program, also 600 clinical hours and I selected my own preceptors. It turned out to be a far better experience than what some of my class mates experienced by simply being placed. Embrace it and design it to fit your needs!! Good luck!

I am in a similar circumstance. I just took the AANP and have my prelim "passed" but I am wondering how long it takes from AANP sending my certification verification to the actual date of getting a CRNP license number. Please keep me posted on your timeline, if you don't mind. This is very helpful info! P.S. and good luck on your exam if you haven't taken it as yet!
