Hi, I am a German nurse. Try to get a job on base as nurse, bc the work condition and payment is much better than in our local hospitals. However if you want to work in a German hospital, it is a good time right now( nursing shortage) but be prepared, that the salary is low and the work density is much higher than in the US. Also most employees are expect that you work overtime of course unpaid, bc you do it for the patients. You need to speak German fluently to work at a German hospital and you need to take a test for it. If you have a BSN it is pretty easy to get your German license. ADN and Diploma can be a little bit tough, but I think you still will get it. I would choose 4, bc in the teaching he may open and he realize how important it is. I also tend to question 2 as well, but it is a why question and it can offend the patient. so my guess is 4. What is the rational

Take the NCLEX as soon as possible after your graduation.Before your test practice a lot of questions and read their rationals. The book that helps me the most was the PDA from La Charity. I had in addition the NBSCN review course for 50 Dollars and took all questions from that! Very close to the NCLEX. Kaplan and Hurst. You can do it

I had 75 question and took me a little less than a hour, bc if I read and think to much, I get it wrong, so I read, think quick and go with my first thought. I studied three weeks, everyday around 5hours and one day of. I mostly did questions and made notes when I did something wrong.

I never wrote much during my study time, but I read every day here. Thank you so much for everyone who wrotes something here, it gave me so much! I did the trick and it worked I studied with Hurst review book, which I really liked because of many easy pictures to remember things that are important. I also had the Kaplan book for questions. Which I really liked. Also I did the NBCSNreviuw course -three weeks- The questions are really awesome and pretty close to the real NCLEX! The la Charity book (PDA), was the book that helps me the most. In the test were tons of these questions! Don't buy the cracking the NCLEX-RN book, the questions are much too easy![h=1][/h]I also had many apps for my iPhone. I found the NCLEXQB, MOSBY Pediatrics, Saunders, Lippincots and the Kaplan questions bank very helpful. I used them every time, I had a little time, I did some questions. The thing that helped me the most was questions, questions, and questions. I was trying to do all the new style questions that I could find. and I always read the rational. If you remember the rules, like ABC, Maslow, acute before chronic, you should be fine. I didn't sleep the last nigth and I also studied the last day, but only because I felt very nervous if I didn't. If I can do it! You all can do it. Don't give up.

OH MY GOD! that would be soooo awesome! The quick results are 48 hours later, right? Can I call them tomorrow morning? I took my test on 4/24 at 8 am and was out of their around 9 am

I just did the trick and it says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Is that the good one?! This waiting is more that horror for me!

Don't know it... need to wait until tomorrow or Monday to find it out

I did my NCLEX yesterday, 75 questions... and my feeling said almost everything was SATA, drop-in, hotspot, EKGstrips, with exhibits ,conference and priorities questions. NO math, many meds.... I have no idea how I did, but if I failed it was the style of the questions, because I knew the content.

After seeing the test today! Practice Sata, fill-in-the-blank, hot spots, chart/exhibit and drag-and-drop a lot!

Do you live in Hershey?! Because then we can study together. I am pretty sure, I failed my test today, too. I had 75 questions, and I have the feeling ONLY SATA and medication and prioritization questions .... I studied a lot with books (Saunders, kaplan, Hurst, LA charity) La Charity is a must-have book!

I believe both systems mixed together would be the perfect system :)... I love working in the US, and I am very glad and pleased to be here.

Hi PWSFSU, are you planning to get your nurse degree in Munich or Berlin... It is a "state" task in Germany. I mean with states the German "Bundeslaender". For Bavarian it is Gesundheitsamt Muenchen, Dachauer Str. 90 80335 München, Deutschland 089 23396300

The ICU nurse in Germany is doing almost the same than here, because of the lack of enough physicians, but you are in absolute grey zone (you know what I mean?) If happen something you are not really covered by law. Nurses are responsible for everything around the pat, vent, ECMO, dialysis .... But we are not responsible for the correct order for medication, I give that what the physician had ordered, is that wrong and it is not my problem. It is good that I see it, but if not isn't my fault. Many things are different in many hospitals, in some they are doing the same than here in other not. For example blood drawing isn't a skill for a nurse, but many nurses are doing it, because they are tired of waiting for the physician. We don't have nurse aids, so we doing the work from them, too. On the floor, you haven't much time, so you don't think so much than here, you just work often you are alone responsible for 15 patients ( with everything).... you don't write so much than here... I hope you understand what I mean :)

Hi Kelli, The job market for nurses is pretty good in Germany right now. Work on your German, because that is the key for you :) Where are going in Germany? Getting a nursepracticioner maybe helps, but it very new field in Germany. The American education is enough for Germany. If you know your place where you want to stay in Germany, ask your husband to contact the "Gesundheitsamt" to ask what they need for your license, mostly it is pretty easy. Good luck to you!

Hi, I am a German nurse, the most things did Steve say, where correct. But Germany has and ever had regulation for nurses. But the nurses in Germany are not educated at the University, they are educated in specific nursing schools. I did both educations the German and the American ADN and now RN-BSN. The level of the German education is pretty much the same than the ADN, but in Germany you will have much more hours( clinicals and theoretical) it more relaxed, but the knowledge is the same. Working as a nurse is much different to the US, and I don't think that a American nurse will enjoyed. too less nurses for too many patients for too less money. I never will go back, if I don't have to. The BSNgrade is coming more and more in Germany. For your license, you need to contact the "Gesundheitsamt Muenchen". Maybe they just evaluate your education or in the worst case you have to do a complete new exam. For your Germanskills, you need to be fluently in speaking and writing for a job in a hospital, in a long care facility or "ambulant Pflegedienst" (nurses who go to the patients home) are maybe not so high standards. Hi, I am a German nurse and happy to help you! Nursing in Germany is a lot different than Nursing in the US. Much more work! Please think about that you have pay high taxes. From 2600 Euro, you will have maybe 1300-1600 euros, depends on if you having children or what your husband is doing. Jobs are easy to get these days.
