  1. Yup. And just failed out by less than a percent on 490. Will be dismissed after they get the bureaucratic part of my execution in order. Was going to graduate 2 days from now. From anecdotal statistics, maybe 30% of admitted bodies actually make it to hear the pomp-and-circumstance and wear the black gown. The nursing program itself is drastically more vicious than the pre-professional courses.
  2. I do not recommend going to LIU for all the reasons you mentioned, but not about rudeness. They're all smiles and politeness, but everything else said about the school is spot on.
  3. Former LIU nursing student. I second this notion. LIU will make you a fantastic nurse....but only if you can stay in it through the end, and, statistically, you are more likely to drop out than to complete the program.
  4. Hah, if only it were that easy...
  5. This is my second C, and after 2 Cs you're out of the program.
  6. What are the chances of Excelsior taking me into their ASN program? A little bit about my situation. I have been working as a CNA and attending a traditional BSN program. I was supposed to graduate this coming Thursday, but recieved a C on med-surge II.....another 1 point and it was going to be a B-, and this is my second C, so I will get dismissed from the program in about a month after they possess my execution. Basically, I have completed 95% of a BSN program, and failed right at the finish line. I understand that Excelsior takes those who are already employed in a clinical capacity, haven't gotten a grade lower than a C, and, what concerns me most, is their requirement of "maintained good academic standing." Will they reject me for being dismissed by my traditional school for 2 Cs?
  7. No dice. Just finished talking to her again and nothing. It was like getting hit with it all over again. Getting into contact with other colleges around here, and Excelsior. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, I suppose...
  8. Consolation prize? I think you are projecting your insecurities here, or something along those lines. I started working as a CNA, decided I like the work, applied to a nursing school, finished almost all of a BSN program and failed right at the finish line. I am have invested a lot of time, money, blood, and tears into this and am simply trying to salvage as much as I can right now using every available route.
  9. Well, that there isn't an issue, but the "dismissal" bit is worrying. Man, the punches don't stop coming.
  10. So, as 2 failing grades are Cs, I'll have a shot at Excelsior?
  11. No? Are you sure about that?
  12. Well, just dropped out of my BSN program by failing my final semesters' med-surg II by 0.81 points. A week before graduation. Ideations that I really out to report to someone aside, one of my back-up plans is to sit in on the LPN board. I know some states allow RN students to challenge the boards after reaching a certain point in their education, but not all do. I attend[ed] school in NY, and NYS stopped allowing RN students to sit in on LPN boards after 2007 or there about. I was wondering does this work across state lines? Can sit in on, say, New Hampshire's boards after having finished 99% of bachelor RN courses in New York? Also, can't find information about it online, and can't call them up right now, but does anyone know if Connecticut allows RN students to challenge NCLEX-PN?
  13. Evening is much easier. At least in a LTC settings.Stripping clothes to put on a gown and putting residents in bed is MUCH easier than stripping gowns to put on proper clothes, changing all briefs, and getting them out of bed. Also, in evening you only have dinner, while day has breakfast and lunch.
  14. Roll of small trashbags with me at all times. That said, I STILL throw the trashbag on the floor- sometimes there is just no helping it.
  15. >gold >silver >platinum >titanium >stainless steel You're all big spenders, aren't ya? Do what I did, I [over]payed $20 for a dinky little upside-down watch that you can pin onto your shirt. It looks upside-down to those looking AT YOU, but if YOU look at the watch while it is pinned to your chest, then you see the correct time. Looks classy and puts a little personal touch to your attire. My local uniform store carried it. It hasn't stopped on me in over 2 years. Also, the guy who mentioned the pocked watch also had the right idea.
