Hey guys, I am about to finish up my assignment in Northern Virginia. I LOVE it up here and recommend this area to ANY and EVERY one looking for an awesome experience to grow as a person and have plenty of things to do. I am 5 min from DC, working in Fairfax. So naturally I have a lot of big decisions to make soon. Trying to decide whether I should stay for another contract (different floor...not a fan of the floor I work on now), different hospital (there are 5 INOVA hospitals very close by) or try a different area in Virginia. So I was wondering...has anyone ever did an assignment in Norfolk, VA? Im a big time fan of the summer...and being by the beach sounds amazing.. Whether its worth giving up my awesome comfort zone or not...I'm not sure.. But if you have worked in Norfolk or know anything about the area please let me know!! Thanks in advance!!! Whitney
  3. When I was looking I went under the housing section and looked under "Shared housing". I made sure the ones i looked at were furnished and accepted short term leases. I was very successful. I recommend emailing a bunch of people and slowly weed out your options and figure it out that way... keep an open mind tho :)
  4. SpacecoastRN-- are you in the DC area.. was just reading these post, I am in that area as well, level I trauma center- wonder if its the same one lol small world, right
  5. I did a lot of deleting! try again :) or email me [email protected]

Has anyone ever worked at Cedars Sinai, in LA. The company I'm with has a ton of ICU positions available. Its a HUGE hospital--Im from a much smaller hospital--not sure if it would be best to try to take a "step between" sizes or just jump right in. Also do you know if they accept first time travelers and average pay. Any feedback would be great. Is it right in the middle of LA or on the outskirts. One more thing... is housing easy to find outside of LA or woud you reccommend taking housing? Thanks in advance Whitney
  9. Hey guys, so I am new at traveling....looking at different areas and facilities. Does anyone know about these 2 areas....Anaheim and Harbor City, CA? Both are Kaiser, not too sure what to think with that. This is the estimated pay tho: please give any feedback on location, facility and pay. Hourly: 20/hr Stipened: 490/wk====1960 tax free/month F/I: 340/ wk==1360 tax free/month Avg est take home pay-- 1350-1450. I work ICU- have 2.5 years experience. Currently on the East Coast (Virginia) thanks!
  10. letsgosavelives85- Let us know how you are liking Kaiser Oakland. I just got my Cali license and plan to start traveling in January. My recruiter keeps telling me Kaiser is 1st time travelers friendly...but like you, I've heard mixed reviews... biggest thing seems to be the floating. Good Luck! Cant wait to be on that side of the country. Can you PM?
  11. Ok, so I am looking to travel in Feb. and California is on my radar-- I am from the East Coast. I've seen some bad things about Kaiser---but recruiters have told me that Kaiser may be a good starting point. I am an ICU nurse with 2.5 years experience. ANY and ALL feedback is welcome. I wanna know good and bad stories.. I've heard as a traveler you get floated OFTEN.. I am looking at Southern California, any hospital recommendations would be awesome too! Thank you in advance..
  12. lisaleone, how do you like working in Hawaii?
  13. I'm also looking at the Monte Carlo... looks nice. Amazing how Wednesday and Thursday is 85 and then Friday is 160! Eeek!
  14. Nurse Cupcake87- Where are you from. Maybe you should consider going to the Travel Nursing conferencee in Vegas..in October.. Thats what I'm planning to do. I'm in the same boat as you. 23 year old female.. no tie downs..from a small town, ready to get up and go. The thing is, I cannot go until January due to a contract I have at home- (Virginia). Sounds like we will both be getting into this exciting career together. I'm excited. I plan to start applying to agencies next month (August). I didnt want to do it beforehand because I didnt want the constant phone calls so early knowing I couldnt do anything. This will atleast give me a few months to get all my stuff together. Good luck. PM me if you can or email. [email protected]
