"company hopping?"
Hello everyone! Ok, so I'm in a bit of a bind. I am less than 2 weeks away from finishing my first travel assignment. 6 more shifts to be exact. I'm having trouble finding another contract. I'm normally a dayshift person. I did nights on this assignment mainly to just get my foot in the door, but I told my recruiter that I do not like to work nights. Nothing against nights, my body and my sleep schedule are just wired for days. I wake up every day at 0530 on the dot weather I'm working or not, so night shift has completely screwed me up. I don't sleep very well during the day (2-3 hours) and I've been sick almost the entire time. Anyways, I feel as though I'm being pushed into doing more night shift positions by my recruiter even though I have clearly stated that it's just not working for me. I requested to go to Dallas Texas next as i have family in that area and would like to be able to spend some time with them over the summer, however I keep being told that there are only night positions available. I took a look at a few other companies that had some dayshift jobs and mentioned them to my recruiter who immediately said she would look into it for me, only to tell me that the hospitals are not responding/answering the phone. I'm starting to hit panic level now because I have NEVER not known where my next paycheck is going to come from. I've heard about people who just jump from company to company depending on where they want to go. I was just looking for some advice. Is it worth it? Is there a lot of extra work involved. Do you ever feel bad or as though you're not being loyal to your company? I'm really not sure what my next move needs to be, but I know I need to figure something out fast because I can't afford to not have a paycheck coming in. Thanks a lot!

Am I TOO emotional to be a nurse?
I cry all the time too! I've gotten better as far as crying when it comes to codes. Working in the ER, most of the codes are already in progress when they arrive to us so I don't get to talk to them or learn their personality so it's easier to distance myself.... I get hit pretty hard when it's Someone my age or a baby.. I actually cry more when I'm frustrated or overwhelmed. For me, taking the 5 minutes to go to the breakroom to cry helps me refresh and and reorient myself to from a task thinker to prioritizing and critical thinking. When I get overwhelmed I immediately go to tasking. I just start doing the next thing on the list instead of what is top priority out of all the things on the list. Crying helps me refocus. Last time I was crying in my manager's office I told him how stupid I felt for crying because I'm frustrated and he said, "hey, I'd rather have you in here crying than throwing pencils or something." haha.

Where to start?
Thanks so much! I've noticed that there is so much info, it's sort of overwhelming!

Where to start?
Hello everyone! This is my first post on here Anyways, As of June of this year I have officially gotten my 2 years of experience out of the way. I've always wanted to travel! I live in a super small town and want to get out there. I have met a few travelers that have come and gone until last year when our hospital cancelled their "travel program" and stopped accepting travelers. I wish I would have asked them more about it, but the one thing I can remember is that the all absolutely LOVED it. Here I am ready to start, but I have no idea where to start. I applied to American Traveler and a recruiter called within the hour, but I froze and didn't answer! From what I've read on here most people are saying to look for companies that will cater to your needs, but I honestly don't really have any! I just want to get up and go! So, what are the companies that some of you work for? I know we cannot put recruiter information onto the threads, but is it ok to put the names of the actual companies? Pros and cons would be nice. Also, I've heard of people "agency hopping." Do any of you do that or are you loyal to one company/recruiter? Thanks so much for any information!
