Failed NCLEX RN... Just needing some encouragement
sweetlilwolf im here to tell you that i took the nclex in april two weeks after graduating and failed it at 205 questions, my life was shattered but i had to pick myself up from the ground and start all over again. i understand people will give you all kinds of suggestions on how to study but that kinda throws you off coz all of those ideas are great. look at your cpr report and see what you did bad on i can tell you my report said near passing near passing, and above passing standard and mybe one or two below the passing standard. yes you might have been near passing that is true but you were not consistent with your answers that is what you need to work on consistency. i never understood why the computer let me go all the way to 205 if i was doing that bad, i was on the boarderline and i needed to maintain consistency and go above the line, i kept going up and down, not bad enough to be kicked out but also not good enough to pass, but the computer sees you have potential so it keeps giving you more questions. it bothered me thati did that many questions and still failed, but my motivation was i don't think i did that bad. all i need is to be consistent with my answering. i would suggest getting the test taking strategy by kaplan this book helps you learn and understandd how to answer questions, you will not remember everything you did in nursing school so they don't expect you to know all of it but you need to understand what is it that they are asking that is the trick. i retook my test after 53 days and passed with 96 questions and trust me if i can do it so can you. study in blocks half hour then take a break or one hour then take a break don't kill yourself on the book in any case that only makes it worse coz you're not comprehending things. i wish you the very best and everybody who is getting ready to retest i know first hand how it felt so trust me i'm with you on this one. one more thing don't wait too long to retest, do yourself a favor and retake it as soon as you are able to because you will start forgeting the most important nursing concepts that you need to get through the exam. :) blessings to you all

Took NCLEX-PN yesterday
VitalsError.., I'm writing to let you know that i retook the NclexPN today and it stopped at question 98. I honestly never thought this day would come. I felt confident taking the test. First let me tell you it was nothing like the first Nclex i took before. My first exam was from hell.., i knew i was failing the first time and i just wanted it to be over so i could get the hell out of that testing center. My second time round i decided to go to a completely different test center i wanted a different vibe. I used my CPR report to study mostly on the two areas that i performed low on my first take. Then i did fundamentals from the Saunders CD.., Fundamentals has everything mixed in all there. I Concentrated my studying on the last two weeks before my test. I got the test taking strategy book by Kaplan and this book teaches you how to take the test.., word choices to avoid on answers etc, i actually rem eliminating two choices on the test based on the word choice. In short i didn't go crazy on my studying there are days i did 100 ques, 200, sometimes 50 but as long as i understood the content that's all that mattered. I had fear of failing but a few days before my test i had to get myself together and just focused on passing, i concentrated on positive thoughts and that helped alot i pictured myself never returning to a testing center to take the PN test again. As i took the test o felt confident.., and even though the computer didn't shut off at 85 i kept it moving.., i knew i wasn't doing bad i just needed to be consistent.., so i focused on each and every question i got after that i had 2:15 mins left so i had time. after Ques 98 the computer shut off. Got home and tried the PVT and long behold i couldn't register. Last time it let me register right away so today i know i passed God is good. So hang in there don't be hard on yourself.., you can do it, i did it and i know you too will.., i hope they will go easy on you the second time round. All the best and let me know how it goes. :)

kaplan vs ready to pass?
3Triages.., i failed my Nclex Pn in April and I'm about to retake it. A friend of mine gave me the ready to pass manual and i must say i love it. It's a review of everything i ever learned in nursing school and just to have it all put together in one packet is the best thing. After reading the book i find answering the questions very easy because the knowledge has been refreshed with just what is important from the Ready to pass review. Thank you for your encouraging comment just what i needed to help me go through this. :)

Took NCLEX-PN yesterday
VitalsError.., i got a lot of delegation questions too and while those are not very bad.., prioritizing was the killer.., i was presented with scenarios that were all very similar and while we all like ABC's.., because they are easy to point out well that was not the case. I got meds and disease processes that i have never heard of, i left the testing center blank and with 100% certainty that i had failed, after 205 questions. My 45 days are over and i will be retaking the test very soon. I Have prayed i have studied and i have left the rest to God. All the best as everyone here prepares.

Took NCLEX-PN yesterday
Hi VitalsError, hang in there I also took my test last month and went all the way to 205, I did the PVT only to find out I had failed. Trust me I know you feel like its the end of the world i still have my moments but I can't give up, & I urge you not to as well. I have nineteen days until I can retake it & I'm determined to make it happen. I'm using Saunders with more focus and the areas that I didn't do well on. I also ordered a book by Linda LaCharity "Prioritization, Delegation & Assignment. I found the questions on Nclex were asked in a certain way and this book helps with that. All the best future nurse.
