  1. thanks everyone! (: -@assess&safety1st : when i first took nclexpn my study methods was hurst review, as well as practice cd test questions. i burnt myself out studying and so when took the exam had complete anxiety, forgot important rule is to pace yourself. when taking my exam the 2nd time around and passing, i used my nursing programs med surg book, all that content you learn in school helps to go over it, doesn't matter if you know it refresh your memory. i also used the saunder's book with detailed informations on the different topics as well as cd to practice questions. it's important to not only understand and go over material but to know how to answer the test questions. i really liked the study guide review post above by jagged777 i read over that twice, it took me a few hours lol but it helps you remember what you need to go over and then look in the back of the saunder's book for the topic you had difficulty with and read over that chapter and do practice questions at the end. i definitely did not read the entire book lol but most of it! ^.^ best of luck to you and everyone!
  2. Just retook the NCLEX-PN for second time taking test. I went in with complete confidence and when I had anxiety during the test I would stop take a deep breath and re read the question 4 or 5 times before answering it. The computer stopped at 108 questions, so I took out my iphone a hour later and went on Pearsonvue it won't let me register, got the good pop up! I realized the first time I took the test and tried to do the PearsonTrick you can find out right away if pass or failed, depends on hopefully it worked and doesn't lie haha! My best advice is never give up, these forums help was great advice from people. I didn't study as hard the second time around for studying, I read over things in the Saunder's Green Book that I knew i had trouble with, and practiced test questions every night up to my best. It really helps to go over material you already know and revise it. :)
  3. Good job! And thank you I started reading my Saunders book and doing practice questions on the disc today. I have to sign up for a test date as well! Glad to hear you past :) grats!
  4. Thereshope..I wish you luck! I am getting into a study routine now so that I can focus on it and retake and hopefully pass! I got the same kind of questions as you did when I took it, the prioritizing for diagnosis' never heard of is difficult and especially to remember what they are. I had a ton of pharmacology for brand new meds as well, but used process of elimination and try to figure out the right answer. Best of luck to you!
  5. @ nurselm84.. I got lots of delegation questions as well, what book helped you with studying? -thanks
  6. @Mariedj88.. took nclex pn on may 9th i didnt pass, i am planning to join hurst review i hope its gonna help me I'm sorry to hear about you not passing, I am in the same boat and my best advice is to never give up! It's difficult when seeing classmates passing, but it motivates me to try harder. I know we will both past the second time! I tried Hurst Review, the cheaper one is good cus it's a bargain as well as being able to watch the videos repeatedly. It's like watching youtube and filling out worksheets at same time. What I did was studied the "core content" which is basic Med Surg information, and watched those videos at least 3 times to keep it in my head while doing disc practice questions. I think what has helped people most is just understanding the rationales to questions. I hope this helps you and wish you best of luck when you do retake!
  7. @ tachycardia..When are you taking the NCLEX-PN again? Do you have a date? What CDs are you reviewing every day? How many questions a day? Good Luck!!! Today I just got letter of authorization to test in mail, it only took 2 wks to get authorization again so that I can retake my exam. I don't feel ready to go and retake it though, like I need to go over things that troubled me. One of the biggest troubles on the NCLEX was how they phrased questions with "follow up with a patient"...I would mistake it for finding the answer that stands out where the patient needs to be corrected. I'm taking a IV class currently to be certified too, but as I am doing it I am using the NCLEX PN Cram book which is indeed helpful. Hurst Review I believe I studied it wrong but I have all the material from it to review core content and as well for CD practice questions I have Saunders and Lippincotts, I try to do 200 a day. Thanks!
  8. @ thereshope .. Thank you so much for the encouragement, it's a struggle especially when you get the letter in the mail saying you did not pass. I just got my letter today after taking the exam a week ago. I am going to look into the Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment book you suggested, it sounds like a good one! I found Saunders to be extremely helpful, and also recently purchased the nurse cram book which I hear has helped some people. Now just to pay another $150 and get a new authorization to test form so I can study and take my retake!
  9. Aside from Hurst Review, I used Saunders and Lippicott's CDs to do practice questions on as well as reviewing core content through Hurst Review. I also just ordered the NCLEX PN Cram book to try and read through that as well, so we'll see if that becomes helpful. Thanks!
  10. Hi everyone! I took the NCLEX-PN for the first time yesterday, and it stopped at 205 questions max. Unfortunately I did not pass, using the Pearsonvue Trick it let me go to the payment confirmation page within a hour after taking my exam. I plan on re taking it and dedicating myself into more study time with it. I took the Hurst Review before my first attempt, and it has helpful material but for people that have test taking anxiety it's important to relax during the exam as well as knowing your core content. Studying 2-4 hours a day for one month I thought would pay off, but once you start seeing the questions repeating themselves it's a warning sign and then shuts off when you think you're doing good again. Hope anyone can give me insight as to how I should prepare myself for retaking it after I have tried Hurst Review, or study tips! Thanks.
