Got accepted to everest college of nursing in henderson nv, what should i expect?
Are you in the July start? I'm transferring from another school, so I'll be finishing some gen ed courses this term (starts Monday) and Everest then officially starting with the July starts as well (I'll just have lighter loads some quarter). I only know what my admissions rep, the Director and admin assistant have told me. I know I saw the schedule for Qt. 2 (the January starts) and school was Monday through Thursday. Two days were 8-5 and two days were 7-12. This quarter I was able to pick my classes either mornings, nights or online since they are all Gen Ed. They have said they're huge on being able to have a flexible work schedule, or not working at all. I've been told by multiple people that the second year is going to be the hardest because of clinicals and they prefer to not work during that time. Did you go to the info session?

Everest College Henderson, NV
Does anyone currently attend this campus? I'm currently a student at Breckinridge (ITT) in Florida and I'm moving back to Henderson. Unfortunately the ITT in Henderson isn't accepting new students because they don't have a Chair for the Nursing. The assistant Nursing Chair told me she doesn't know when they'll start accepting new students, if ever. (The whole reason I picked ITT was so I could easily transfer when my husband got orders). Everest will accept my credits as well as my HESI entrance scores from ITT, which is a huge plus. I guess I'm just trying to find anyone who has gone to this campus and what they have to say?

Taking the HESI at the end of the month and just started studying!
I just took the Hesi today. I only found out I was taking the test 1 week ago so that's all I had to study. Overall I got a 90%. I purchased the McGraw-Hills Nursing School Entrance Exam book. My school only required Math, Reading Comprehension, Grammar & Vocabulary. The McGraw-Hills book went over a lot more math than what was on the actual exam. On the test there was a calculator built into the Hesi software. There was also a lot of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), decimals, fractions, ratios/proportions w/ and w/o percents (3:4::x:10), basic algebra and probably about 5 questions on conversions (metric to US). Also there were quite a few non multiple choice answers in the math section. The McGraw book covers more geometry and I didn't have ANY on the actual Hesi. A lot of the English part also had medical terms included (duh). The book also focused a lot on sentence structure and different clauses/phrases (adverbial, adjectival, etc.) and my test didn't ask any questions about that. Overall the book was almost too thorough. I feel like I wasted a lot of time studying and stressing about certain things that were no where on the test.

Does HESI shut off automatically?
If you're asking if it shuts off like the NCLEX after (I believe) it's a 95%+ then no. I took the HESI today and did the math, grammar, reading comprehension, and vocab and each section was 55 questions. The one thing I didn't like is that once you submit your answer you can not go back or review your answers before submitting the entire test. Once you pass that question thats it.

thinking of startng at the Breckinridge School of nursing @ ITT Tech Lake mary Fl
I wanted to give a bit of information from the ITT Tech here in St. Petersburg, FL. I went to the information session this morning. Maybe the older program was 8 quarters, but it is now 9 and if you have no prior General Education classes it will take 27 months to complete. The director did say that it is possible to combine the last two quarters, but it is only for a select few of students who show they can handle it (which would make the program 24 months). The whole program is 109 credits. Tuition is $493 per credit so take that x 109 = $53,737 (!!!) You also need to pay for your background check which is $59. As well as any immunizations you need and your physical, so that depends on your insurance/doctor. If you don't have insurance they said estimate $100. You also need to buy your uniforms. You can wear any scrubs during lecture and lab on campus, but you must wear green bottoms and order their tops ($35 each - not in tuition) for clinicals and you order however many you'd like. They require the HESI entrance exam, which is no cost to the student. It covers English, Reading and Math (so no science). The passing score is 75 (out of 100). You start clinicals in your 4th quarter which is 9 months into the program. They are also accredited by ACICS, which is nationally. I asked if they are going to try to get a regional accreditation and they couldn't give me an answer. It didn't seem like they were interested getting more accreditation's. They have a contract with Kaplan if you'd like to continue to RN-BSN or RN-MSN. Overall, I was expecting a lot more for paying $54k. The lab was rather small. It only had three beds with two adult size mannequins. One was 'interactive', the teacher would have to stand right next to the mannequin to control it. It also did not talk, just made various noises (breathing, heart beat, bowel noises, etc.). That was their only lab for up to 30 people at a time! I will say the Director was super personable and really did seem interested in the students, which is really nice. Here at least (including the Tampa location) they have not had a graduating class yet. Therefore, they don't have a average NCLEX passing rate, which worries me. I also could not get a straight answer if a HESI exit exam was required to get your degree. (There have been people on various forums saying that ITT/Breckinridge required the HESI exit exam before they'd give you your diploma and were kind of holding it 'ransom') I visited Galen the other day and was much more impressed, especially for it being $20k cheaper.

I haven't read all the comments, but how long is the actual program at Keiser.. without any gen ed courses taken yet? How much is the program? Where are the clinicals held? I have an phone 'appointment' Monday, but I'm wondering if I can get more information before.

Galen or ITT tech in St. Petersburg, FL - 2yr RN program
I don't remember her name :/ Lol. She was short and had shorter (blondish?) hair. She said she was in Q2 as well. So the scrubs don't come in until Q2? Or does it just depend on when you order them? I'm more concerned about the math and science part of the Pax-RN. I got the McGraw-Hills Nursing School Entrance Exams, which covers the pax, net, teas, psb-rn, and c-net-rn. I didn't see the one they recommended until I got this one. And none of the Barnes & Nobles have the one they recommend. I'm hoping to take as many online classes as I can so I can keep my job for as long as possible. I know eventually that will be difficult. Also, did financial aid (grants and loans I'm assuming) cover all your tuition? I know the books, uniforms and those fees at the beginning aren't covered, but the rest.. How big is your class? I know in the book they gave me said that they do clincals at bayfront hospitals? Do you know where your clincals are going to be held? I know it's a ton of questions, but I like getting a students point of view on top of an addmissions rep! Lol Thank you!

Galen or ITT tech in St. Petersburg, FL - 2yr RN program
Thank you! I did come in for the Open House that was held on Wednesday and I was very impressed. The price, while still high, is the lowest for a for profit school I've seen. They've also been around for quite some time, unlike Breckenridge at ITT. Right now I'm just studying for the Pax-RN and hopefully will come in and take that next week. I did have a few questions that I didn't get a chance to get answered: When do clinicals start? How long are the quarters? And are you doing any online classes? How many days (and for how long) are you actually on campus right now? Thank you!!

Galen College of Nursing?
There is regional accredidation and national accredidation. Regional is better and Sacs is regional. Basically Galen's accredidation right now is National, but they're still in the process to become Sacs. In the information book they gave you it has Sacs phone number and you can call and ask where they stand in their accredidation process. After they obtain the Sacs they'll go onto the NLNAC accredidation application, which doesn't take as long as the Sacs. Now having to start from scratch isn't entirely true (even with a national accredidation). You are just limited to the number of schools you can go to (mostly private schools), I know University of Tampa will also accept your ADN for their bridge program. I have a friend in another nursing program (Concorde) in Tampa that has a National accredidation. She graduates in July or August and is already enrolled at UT for her RN-BSN Bridge. I went to the 'Open House' last night at Galen and asked close to 50 questions. I'm going to go take my Pax-RN and hopefully start in the July class. Which class are you going to be starting in?

Galen or ITT tech in St. Petersburg, FL - 2yr RN program
Hi, I'm interested in Galen College of Nursing, but I don't know the reputation they have. I would like to do the 24 month RN program and not the LPN and then LPN to RN. I have read some bad reviews on another forum and am wondering if they are just from subpar students, which every college is going to have. I know ITT tech just started a 2 year RN program and it worries me that it's so new. Does anyone have any information on that? What schools take your ADN and RN to be able to get a BSN? How much is the program? Thank you
