  1. Yes! Absolutely! I used to stalk Taskstream, and then finally settled down and just kept checking my email for the notification. I will be okay, just need some time off, and then I'll be back. You'll probably be finished by then. Yay! I'm a night owl too, so you won't be alone working on those tasks at night.
  2. Hi RN*mommy, So good to hear about your success. Congrats! I'm still plugging along, one more test left to go. And 9 more classes!! I will be taking a term break due to some health issues, but I look forward to hearing more about your MSN journey. Oh, and 4 children under ten, WHAT?! How in the world do you do it all? I bow to you!
  3. Thanks for taking the time to go over that. This may be something I'd be interested in, who knows? I guess I should see how the rest of this 1st term plays out. Take care!
  4. Hi RN*mommy, I'm so happy to hear that you are doing well. I finally finished that god forsaken research paper, and can FINALLY concentrate on getting some classes under my belt. I'm already almost finished with GNT1, and plan to do a few more of the nursing classes, instead of the Algebra. If you have time, could you briefly explain how the switch to the MSN works? It may be good to know. Good luck!!
  5. An absolutely beautiful story! (left me weeping). All of our animal companions make this life more bearable.
  6. First of all, welcome Lynette! You have come to the right place to get answers regarding WGU. Everyone here is great, and always happy to offer help. Good luck in your journey:D To klone and RN*mommy--thanks so much for your input. I also felt that the research paper was difficult, but I was told it would help me write papers for the nursing classes. My mentor had originally told me that I would be starting with one of the nursing courses. She then decided on the research class instead. In hindsight, I wish she had stuck with her first thought and I would have at least one course finished. I value your opinions and will must likely heed your advice. Since I'm not where I want to be in the program, I'm going to start doing things my way. Thanks to all of you once again.
  7. Hi RN*mommy, Nurse_Jaydee, I very happy that you are doing so well. I just finished speaking with my mentor(weekly call), and mentioned everything that has been discussed here recently. Apparently, each mentor has their own way of doing things, and it's just the luck of the draw in who is assigned to you. Anyhow, I didn't realize that we have until the end of our term, Jan. 31, to finish as many courses as we can. I have been knocking myself out trying to complete the research paper by Sept. 30, because that is the end date stated in my course plan. So, I haven't completed ANY classes or received any units yet. Just been plugging along on this paper, only briefly worked on Algebra, nothing completed. My mentor did not like the idea of taking the Algebra pre-assessment first, even though I told her that others on here have done it. She feel it is better to go through all the modules first. I don't know what I think about that. I may just follow in the footsteps of all you ladies(and gentlemen), and do what you have been doing. In hindsight, I wish that I had started with something else, anything else, just to have completed something. I'm on the revision task, and boy, do I feel like I'm wasting my time! I just want to write the paper and turn it in:cry:
  8. Thanks RN*mommy for your awesome response! I am almost finished with the research paper, and will be going back to the Algebra. I didn't know that I could take the preassessment without going through all the modules. I really just thought this whole process would be quicker, you know? I am going to try to knock out one of the nursing courses while I'm working on the Algebra. At the beginning, my mentor basically told me what classes she was signing me up for, so I really didn't have too much input. I figured that she knew best. When she calls this week, I'm going to bring up all the info that I've learned from you and everyone else on here. All of you are great:yelclap: Keep up the good work, you sound like you're doing fantastic!
  9. Well, Hi! everybody! So nice to hear from all of you. I'm very jealous, as you all sound like you are moving along quickly, and I feel like I'm floundering with this paper writing. I started the Algebra, because I was so aggravated with the other class, and it wasn't too bad! Does anyone have any pointers on how to move ahead? For instance, I was told not to worry about the Alegbra preassessment until I finished all the modules! Should I take it now, and see if I really need to go thru them all? Also, my mentor set up my classes for me, is that common practice? I know that I needed to learn the APA style, but with PERRLA's help, I think I may have been able to pull off some other classes first. Any ideas from you all would be great. Hopefully we can continue to check in with each other:D
  10. Just checking in -how's everyone doing so far? Haven't seen too many posts under this thread, so we all must be busy writing and studying! I am still finishing up the research paper course, I can't stand it. I don't like having to pick apart every little thing and submit it, that's not how I write! Can't wait til it is FINISHED! My mentor is nice, tho:yeah:
  11. Hi Nurse_Jaydee and teacherturnedRN--Glad to hear that you are going to be starting on the 1st with me. My sense of dread has diminished and I'm now hopeful about this journey. I actually feel like it may not be so bad after all. My mentor suggested starting off with a nursing course first, which is probably a good idea. I will be speaking to her soon to set up the degree plan, so I'll have a better idea of what's ahead. I hope we can all find time to keep each other updated on things, and offer moral support! chaisaci--I am sorry for your troubles. I sincerely hope that everything falls into place for you. I thought that I was going to start earlier also, but had problems with transcripts, etc., too. As it turned out, this start date works out better now for various reasons. Maybe you will find that it is true in your case, I hope! I emailed the transcript department and was helped by very nice people. Maybe you could try that, too? Good luck to all;)
  12. Hi all, just wondering how everyone is doing--especially those who have been waiting to see if they can start on Wednesday. I finally finished the EWB, and had my first phone call with my mentor. She seems very nice! I have been poking around the WGU website looking for any info that I think will help me. Also have been browsing through the Communities. Anyone else have any news?
  13. teacherturnedRN--I can't believe it! I just signed back on to let you know about Khan, too. I started watching the Stats videos a couple of weeks ago, but just switched to Algebra, figuring I'd likely take that first. I hadn't heard about him until I saw the name in a thread on here somewhere. The Algebra is coming back to me, but I've never taken Statistics, so we'll see how that goes. I really like his approach to teaching. Please keep us updated with your progress, too. Hopefully it will fly by! myviefolle07-Good luck with your waiting game, I know how it feels. I waited over a month to have my transcripts evaluated, and then wished I hadn't! Good luck and please keep us in the loop.
  14. Hi teacherturnedRN, Thanks for letting me know that you're in the same situation as me! I'm sorry you have to take the pre-reqs too. And, I paid also (hope I'm not kicking myself later), and have been trying to start the EWB since Friday. I can't get anything updated on my account, so I shot an email to my EC. Good luck to you too!! BTW, how was the EWB? I've read it can be done in a few days.
  15. Yes, I would like to know this also. Does anyone know if I could hold off my starting date, take some of these classes elsewhere as online courses, and then use those courses in my transfer? Maybe use Straighterline or something like that? Would that even be feasible?
  16. Well, it's official-I do have to take six other courses besides the core nursing courses. I was so NOT expecting this! My excitement about starting has turned to dread. I spoke with my EC, and asked why my ADN didn't allow me to just take the 7 nursing courses. I was told that it used to be that way, but now if say, College Algebra, was not included in your degree, you have to take it for the BSN. At least, that was how it was explained to me. So, I would guess that if you have an ADN, and have taken all the requirements listed on the website, you are home free. Hopefully, I'm not alone in this, and we can cheer each other on! BTW, if anyone has heard anything different from their EC, please post and let me and anyone else in this situation know. I still haven't paid my tuition yet, as I am on the fence about this whole idea. I have been going through this process since April:bluecry1:
  17. I'm not really sure why that is. I'm going to try to find out. Maybe I've been given the wrong info, since it appears that some with an ADN are still getting their requirements met, while others are not. The classes that I appear to need are: Research (Language and Communication), College Algebra, Statistics , Humanities course, Humanities Interpretation, and Biochem. Whew! Then, of course, the EWB and the 7 nursing courses. Does this sound like a lot to any one else? I was prepared to do just the EWB and the nursing courses. So depressed
  18. You sure can! That's what I did. "New students pay by the 22nd of the month prior to their start date" per the website. So, we have until July 22, plenty of time for them to evaluate your transcripts;)
  19. When I asked my enrollment counselor why my ADN didn't allow me to have all "requirements satisified" by my ADN, I was told they had changed. I was using by the post by DreamNurseRN, who posted an awesome compilation about WGU, transfers, classes, etc. I was told that was how it used to be Hopefully this is DreamNurse's info link https://allnurses.com/western-governors-university/lowdown-wgus-online-524424.html .When she applied, an ADN met all the requirements and just the core nursing classes were required. I like her information a lot better!
  20. My transcripts were "lost" for awhile, but they were finally found and evaluated. I am surprised at how many classes I need even though I have an ADN. After reading through the WGU RN to BSN threads, I was hoping to only need the core nursing classes. They have changed the requirements recently, so I wish I had applied last year. Anyway, probably will be starting Aug. 1st too.
