  1. Do the Reserves, Army, if you need the money. Just my opinion. matt
  2. nurses that don't take pride in their work. Further, nurses that are always late. Patriots strike again!
  3. There is no "interview" you just apply. further, 100% pick-up rate. matt
  4. Hey, I'm not knocking the Army program, I'm just saying it isn't perfect. I know quite alot about the program. I have applied both of the last two years, and got accepted both times. yeah thats right. Turned it down, requested REFRAD, because I also got accepted to a civilian program... I have several good friends who have graduated from the program and are in the program. It's a great program no doubt. It has its draw backs. I, like you you came in as PVT matt, then CPT. I had enough and got out. I wanted and needed more time with my family, not to mention the fact that I want to be paid for taking the responsiblity that comes with anesthesia. Tell him about the bonus situation...or didn't you get that memo from the ANC chief, or maybe the attrition rate in the program. Don't jump on someone for offering their opinion. Instead just offer your own and, then let him make an educated decision. It's the nuber two program in the country, according to US News and World Report. I have no doubt, when you complete that program you are the Best CRNA new grad that there is, and when you get out you will be greatly compensated in your next job.
  5. Think before you jump, somethings sound better than they are. If you are interested in the Army program, now is the time, the can't fill the school. matt
  6. Yes, I just started looking up hospitals and anesthesia groups online and called, asking to speak with HR person or the admin asst. for the group. it's been difficult and time consuming. Plus, most say no thanks we don't do that. Yes, I am going to go to MTSA this summer. matt damn patriots:crying2:
  7. No way, don't wait, if you KNOW that anesthesia is what you really want to be doing...apply ASAP. Even if you don't get accepted, going through the app process will better prepare you for the next year. I had very limted ICU time when I applied, and got in... mostly ED time. because it's also about your GRE, GPA and how you do on the interview. thats my 2 cents. matt Patriots again baby!!!
  8. Hi Sleepy, Actually, I interview and paid back in May. I to am married with three kids, all girls 10, 6, 6. Yes, twins. So I will be pretty busy in school. Let me know when you will be moving, I have to find a place too. matt
  9. Very happy for. yes there is more money to borrow, it's called alternative loans. The amount varies, based on your needs, it's usually at a slightly higher interest rate. I to am in a 2007 class. I have been doing alot of searching for the right sponsor (group or hosp)... it's difficult. However, I am leearning as I go. I have two solid offers but I think I can doo better. especially with hospitals that have never sponsored before. You just have to sell the idea to them. Start now, sending emails and making phone calls... be forward. matt
  10. Get an early interview, if possible. I don't think MTSA cares much about your GRE, they are more interested in your science GPA and your clinical experience. Obviously, after you get an interview date, the most important thing is the interview itself. You need to be confident, respectful and knowledgable, in that order. matt
  11. Yes. I actually had my early interview back in June, and have just been waiting. Are you in Nashville, married... ?
  12. To answer your question... Yes, most new RN's in the army are deploying within their first 24 months service. Too bad you were attacked so, for mis-speaking. It's a touchy subject for those involved. matt
  13. I'm with jhawk, put in for school. If you not sure what area to work in, get out, and get some more expirience. I've been in for 14 years (CPT), it may not get easier. If your leadership is not sympathetic to your feelings...get out. You are in demand everywhere. Good luck. matt
  14. Hello all, nice to see such varied responses. I think joining the army is one of the best things an aggressive, new RN grad can do, and the pay is pretty good. Thanks for the forum. matt
