This is exactly what I said when I got my RN license! Cheap piece of paper (corner of a piece of paper really) and I had to cut it out myself even! Really I did all that hard work, crying, stress, sleepless nights, weight gain.... for this?! LOL my grocery card is way nicer! Ah well. it is what it is, glad I'm not the only one that feels that way though.

I was/am a medical assistant prior to receiving my RN. I notified my work when I got my license on June 5th. They did hire me for an RN job but it doesn't start until sept so they told me I could continue my MA position until then. Even though I'm officially an RN, because my job title is currently MA until sept, I was told to just make sure I remain in the MA scope of practice until my job title officially changes. So I think it just depends on where you are and what type of job you had prior. Because an MA doesn't fall under a nursing umbrella, my license wasn't "taken over" by a higher level. Make sense?! A CNA is governed by board of nursing so they are no longer licensed as such and can't work below their license level. At least, that's how I had heard it works.

Yeah our school was very disorganized starting from block 1 orientation alllllll the way through block 4. From the FA office, to the homework schedules/calendars, to the clinical groups... My school was also a top ranking school and the first thing they taught us day one was "the f word" .... Flexibility! They said being a nurse is all about having to be flexible. Schedules, aren't always going to go your way. you're not always going to have the tools/supplies you need. Patients aren't always going to react how you want. So when something went 'wrong' or took an unexpected turn they would say "remember the f word!" (of course I was always wanting to think of a different f word) you get kind of used to it. I'm severely OCD about my schedule and what not too. I would always have a couple calendars and very organized binders. I still do as a nurse. I just know to write it in pencil now, not pen. also, all the changes and shinanigans, kick start your ability to critical think! Which is key in nursing.

yeah with 3 years experience (especially in ICU) I say you should definitely negotiate for more! I am a new grad in AZ and we start at $25+ here .... so with 3 yrs experience $24.60 is a bit low.

I'm a new RN :yelclap: I have a job but they too do the 2 day course. I think I am going to just find an ACLS book and read up on it myself to get a good foundation before I do the class. Thanks for your reply!

Because I am a new nurse:nurse: and by recommendation of our instructors, we were highly encouraged to find an ACLS course that lasts longer than 2 days and isn't online. We were told there were courses out there that can even be up to 6 weeks. I can't find one!! Has anyone ever heard of or gone to one? I live in Arizona. I think with as much as they pack into that class it would be nicer to spread it out and I would retain so much more info than if it were only 2 days. Please let me know if you all know of anything! Thanks!!!

I don't know how your state works but in AZ we were able to get results within 24hrs. All we had to do was log on to the state board, type in our name, and click on "get details" and it said passed or failed. So if you did the test yesterday you would be able to check today! Maybe your state has the same thing? Just an option! I'm sure you did fine! Every person I know that took it (including myself) felt sick and horrible afterwards but we all made it! Good luck! Sounds like you are studying just fine! That's what I did was questions questions questions. Nothing can prepare you for the anxiety you will go through no matter how hard you study and how well you do studying. You're going to leave the test feeling like you failed, no way around that feeling either. But you will do great! I just took mine June 4th and passed! i remember i was so happy i was literally jumping with joy and couldn't get a word out! I found out when I was at work and my co-worker couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with me... I finally pointed to my email and at first she didn't get it until I finally calmed down and explained it to her! lol. it was one of the most exciting moments ever....aside from just passing the NCLEX on monday of this week!

Exactly! I see this as a teaching moment or training. No need to make her feel worse! I'm more of a "find a solution" type person.
