Expect anything and everything. They'll show you a diagram and won't directly ask you what the reading is but ask what you'd do if one of your patient's had that reading. I don't recommend you try to learn telemetry in a short amount of time but just be ready if you do get one since it will most likely be a passing question.

Thanks for the responses! Seems like I'm going to have to ask the person in charge regarding that. Might seem a little shallow but we worked so hard for that BSN and it would be nice to at least have it recognized.

Did your hospital/nursing home/etc honor your BSN meaning you are a BSN, RN at work? I am just curious cause I know a couple of people who graduated from the Philippines and are a BSN, RN but it's a different story for me..

Having a batchmate approved does not necessarily mean that the rest will be too. A batchmate of mine was approved but the rest of us denied and all of us shared the same concurrency issue. Weird part is, the same analyst who approved my batchmate's application was also the same one who rejected another batchmate of mine.

In order to prevent any misleading information being posted it is best to contact the state you intend to apply to and voice out your concerns. Most states have a specific department to deal with inquiries you may have regarding the application process, requirements and anything in between. So, in short, do not assume a state will not consider you as an applicant unless you have heard directly from them stating otherwise. Also, money is important but it shouldn't prevent you from pursuing your dream. It is an investment for your future regardless how much you end up spending. Don't lose hope since all this will happen in God's time.

It's all about learning how to be comfortable with SATA's and not about memorizing every little piece of information. You can use programs like NCLEX 4000 to practice answering SATA question which of course is also supplemented by reading books as well.

A letter of explanation should include the reason why you want something change like "I made an error when inputting my information". Any explanation, assuming it's valid, will do.

Silverdragon102, as usual :), is correct. You need to send a request to CGFNS through this link here. Information that was submitted to CGFNS and is subject to any changes will require a letter to formally request the change. Also, I also advise that in the letter you will eventually write to include a VALID explanation.

I too was recently denied by California and I know how that feels specially after months of submitting so many requirements. Out of the 8 people I knew applying for California 1 was lucky enough to get pass the concurrency issue and was given their eligibility so there are some who are simply "lucky". My denial was based on the same issue and how my OB and OR cases were not concurrent with my NCM100 and NCM101 meaning that some of the OB/OR cases were completed AFTER that school year and not because of the amount of theoretical and clinical hours. Perhaps my theoretical/clinical hours were a factor but according to the analyst the denial was based on concurrency. I am also aware of some states requiring foreign graduates to have satisfied a certain amount of theoretical/clinical hours and perhaps that could be the basis why your friend was denied in Arizona. We can't simply assume that if one was denied based on the state's rules and regulations that it was because of concurrency unless specifically stated.

I was aware of the breakdown of the hours but was not aware of the concurrency issues since that issue stems from the submission of the clinical cases which is then referenced with your nursing theories.

Miss Karen, Could you link me to where you got that list from cause I'm a bit confused. I know that Virginia does not have those issues with foreign graduates since they rely solely on your CES report which does not evaluate your clinicals. Thanks, James.

@darts_888 - check your E-Mail. UPDATE There are instances where the state doesn't require a secondary school evaluation like the state Washington (Click here to see which states require it and which states do require it). If the state you wish to apply to does NOT require it then that simply means that you do not have to submit your HS diploma. Although, you are still required to list your educational preparation when applying for the state.

Well, that's a tough choice. If you applied with to CGFNS using your maiden name and later on get married (or legally change your last name to your husband's) then you would have to through a rigorous process to have that change. With that said, you have two choices.. 1. Apply using your maiden name and request for a name change after by writing to CGFNS and presenting your marriage certificate. 2. Legally change your last name to your husband's then proceed with your CES report. Either way should yield the same result. In my opinion though, I would stick with the first option simply because your TOR/license are consistent with your maiden name.

Michigan requires both a CES report and a language proficiency exam so keep that in mind when estimating how long it would take from the time you file for the service through CGFNS to the time you receive your ATT. A CES report, if you opt to pay for the Expedite Service, will normally take around 2 weeks from the time YOUR SCHOOL sends your TOR. So let's say you've already registered, paid the fees (with expedite) through CGFNS and your school sends your TOR on Monday June 18 then expect the TOR to reach CGFNS in 5-7 business days. Worse case scenario it takes 7 days and reaches CGFNS on Wednesday June 27 then expect another 5-10 business days to process. From my experience filing my files and a friend of mine's after it took around 3 weeks until CGFNS issued the report. Once the report is received by your respected Board of Nursing then expect it to be posted (assuming you've already registered and paid the Board's fees) within 5 days and the eligibility to be released soon after. Silverdragon102 is right about the 3-4 months turn around but with CGFNS's expedite service it can be a lot less. Please let me know if you need more help.

I totally forgot about this thread but to answer some unanswered questions for future reference: DO I NEED TO SEND MY DIPLOMA/TRANSCRIPT TO PRC..OR DO I JUST GET THAT FROM MY SECONDARY SCHOOL AND HAVE THEM SEND IT DIRECTLY TO CGFNS..? - Regardless where you graduated you are required to PERSONALLY (directly from you) mail CGFNS your high school diploma and usually a photocopy will suffice. Does the diploma needs to be validated too if i have a license in the Phils.? Or just the license? - The high school diploma as stated above can come from you so no validation is required assuming that it is a perfectly good copy. The only validation that is required is with your TOR and, if applicable, your license in the Philippines. Your respectable school and PRC will be able to accommodate you with the validation process. Hey what state did you apply? Do you have any news is michigan is strict?? - I applied for Virginia. As far as Michigan, I am not particularly sure about whether or not they are strict but I'm almost certain that the process for Virginia and Michigan are very similar. Meaning that they rely a lot on the completed CGFNS CES report for your evaluation and usually is also the basis for your eligibility. In short, having completed your CGFNS CES we can probably assume that Michigan will also grant you your eligibility Will CGFNS process a CES report without the license? If you do not hold a license in the country where you were educated and the state does not require you to hold a license prior to your application then disregard the request for validation form and provide a valid reason when asked by CGFNS (during the online application process). English language proficiency? - TOEFL is recommended but some states also accept IELTS. If you've already completed TOEFL/IELTS in the past 2 years I've read somewhere that it could still be valid. Your scores must also be submitted DIRECTLY TO CGFNS NOT THE STATE BOARD before you can be eligible to sit for the exam so NO "English exam to follow".

I understand that it's mind wrecking and we need all the support we can during these times. Always remember that nothing good ever comes easy so work hard for your dream!

First of, try to calm down as soon as possible cause any unwanted anxiety can steer you away from your focus. Deal with your fear and get down to business. Low to high 60s is a good indicator that you're doing well cause remember this isn't like nursing school when 80's and 90's are frequent. The most important thing is that you review your questions whether right or wrong and reread any topic you feel you're lacking. Kaplan also tells you the weak areas you need to cover and that's the best things you can study in your last few days of review. Kaplan also suggests you not doing 300 questions a day simply because it's too much material for you to remember. Do 150 questions max and more during the days when you take your question trainers. Most of us here are well aware of your anxiety so you are definitely not alone. Do not let your scores dictate whether or not you can pass but let your confidence in yourself and your fate be the reason why. Good luck on your final days of review and if I can suggest one thing do not read or search for (false) reassurance, it's non-therapeutic :).

Hey Lulu, I'm on the same boat as you are.. I just took the exam, shut off at 75 and checked the results right after. Current activity says Delivery Successful and fortunately got the good pop. Now it's been about 2h since I took the exam and I'm still getting the good pop up. Too bad Virginia doesn't participate in the early release of test scores so I have to wait .. Good luck with your results! I know you did your best so let God do the rest :).

Typically it doesn't but there are instances where it's up to the recruiter or nurse in charge whether they choose to consider your experiences in the Philippines or not.

Transferring your documents from one agency to another should be fairly simple and should jump start your application process. I'm glad you've chosen to pursue being an LVN, but in my opinion you shouldn't limit yourself to only California since you've only tackled one out of the possible fifty states. Like the saying goes, "aim for the sky".

glj1322RN is correct. Being an American citizen you were not eligible to sit for the exam in the Philippines because of citizenship issues. Due to the same reason you are also not allowed to officially be hired in the Philippines. Keeping that in mind, most of the hospitals in the United States will only accept "experience" that yield a monetary gain. In short, a hospital will typically only acknowledge your experience if you really held a job in the Philippines.

In order to gain copies of your cases you can usually request them directly from your college. They should have a copy of your cases on file which are the same ones you submitted to the Professional Regulation Commission prior to your licensure exam. Make sure that they are in the same state they were when you last submitted them meaning they should be properly signed, sealed and notarized to avoid any mishaps. Unfortunately, when the BON of CA sends you a letter requesting for a copy of your clinical cases this usually leads to inevitably being denied. Although, I do not discourage anyone from trying since they might be lucky enough to be one of the rare cases where they accept the cases.
