  1. I would say common lab values, electrolytes, CBC... Message me your email address and I'll send you a list of what we had to memorize. Best of luck to you!
  2. Let me point you to a website that is sooo helpful for nursing math, dosagehelp.com. It will walk you through each type of problem and there are tons of practice questions (with an explanation of what to do if you get the answer wrong). Best of luck to you!
  3. I would focus more on the PE. Maybe something like, Impaired gas exchanged related to decrease pulmonary perfusion associated with obstruction of pulmonary arterial blood flow by the embolus as evidence by dyspnea, positive for Pulmonary Embolism, and abnormal pulse oximetry. Best of luck!
  4. Nursing only. I would request that anything personal (such as politics) not be posted. If it does not involve events or anything specific to your program it should not be there. That's what they have a personal facebook page for.
  5. It's where you demonstrate the skills you have been taught (bed baths, changing the bed with pt in it, catheters etc...). At my school, you get a check list of the exact steps you will be tested on so there are no surprises. It's really not that big of a deal. Good luck with everything!
  6. I feel just like that... and I too love it! I love learning new things and am really enjoying my nursing school experience. My first day of clinicals was def stressful but it's already gotten so much better. Hope your excitement continues, good luck!
  7. Basically you just decide if the goals that you set for your pt have been achieved. For 'partially met' I would say that just means perhaps there was an improvement but not quite all the way there. If 'unmet' you would need to state why not and either adjust your goal so it is attainable or perhaps change the time frame and continue to work on it. Hope this makes sense!
  8. Thanks for all of the encouragement! It is appreciated. I finished my second week today and it was much better! I just decided not to over think everything and just do what I needed to do. I actually had extra time today and was able to help others. It felt great
  9. I feel so ridiculous, I know that it's 'normal' to feel nervous when you first start clinicals, but I am sooo nervous that I am dreading going to my next clinical day tomorrow. I have been looking forward to clinicals since I was doing pre-reqs. My first day however, did not go as expected. It took forever to get the bed changed, forever to do the bed bath and forever to get my assesment done. I know what to do, I always do well in class and in labs so I don't know why I struggled so much that first day. Did any of you feel this way? Does it get to the point where it feels more 'natural' and not so disorganized? Thanks for letting me vent :)
  10. It seems that your heart is on L&D, if that's the case go for it! Best of luck to you!!!!
  11. I would talk to your program advisor...tell her your situation and she will more than likely be able to give suggestions or advice on where to find the books you need. I know at my school, they have a large selection of text books that you can use for the semester for free. They don't exactly 'advertise' it, so not too many people know about it. Worth a shot. Best of luck to you!!
  12. I live in the Texas panhandle and I have applied to a school that accepts around 100. There are at least three other schools around me that I am aware of. Good luck!!
  13. I agree with the above posters, you are probably just a bit insecure...maybe the language barrier? The library system is an excellent source that you may want to consider. Also, you dont need to feel 'uncomfortable' because you are beautiful. Lots of people may take notice of you because of your looks; consider it a compliment and graciously smile. T hen move on...you are probably giving it more thought than you really need to. Best of luck to you :)
  14. I second what SopranoKris posted. You will have to put some effort into your studies. It def takes commitment, which it sounds like you have. You can get all A's, you'll just have to work hard. You may have to come back and read your post when it seems like you just can't stand any more studying and remind yourself how much you want this. I wish you all the best!!
  15. Amarillo, Tx has a great program and there is no waiting list. It is competitive; based off of your pre-req gpa and hesi scores. Good luck!
