  1. Sorry, I never replied. But $22.51 is what the entry rate is now for Intermountain. I have friends who work for University of Utah and I was told they start their new grads at $22.75. However in comparing info with my friends that work for the U of U their insurance cost's a little more than with IHC and IHC's increases are a little better from what I have experienced. Hope this information helps. Also if you want to compare work atmosphere. I know I love working for Intermountain but my friends also love the U of U. So I think they are both great places to work.
  2. Well,I don't think I did it too soon. I just looked on the board of nursing website for my state and I passed! So yes it did work. Woo Hoo!
  3. I just passed my NCLEX and all I did was Hurst Review. I loved Hurst and felt it really prepared me well for the NCLEX. However, I have numerous friends that have done Saunders, then did the practice exam in the Kaplan book and they did just fine with those. If you have been working hard I bet you will do fine. Just practice a lot of questions to make sure you know how to answer properly. You got this!
  4. It took me all the way to the credit card page, I put in my card number and I had to hit submit. At that point it gave me the pop up saying "Our records indicate you recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time". I did a screen shot and sent it to a friend that got the same thing and had passed and she confirmed It was the same thing she got. I am pretty sure this was right. Another weird thing happened. At the testing center once I was done I had to follow the TA out of the testing room where she had to do something on her computer to submit my test I guess and I saw a flash of my results. It was a very fast flash but I am positive I saw that it said I passed. I guess I will see soon. Usually in my state they do have the results up in less than 48 hours.
  5. Well, I took my NCLEX today! I went in praying like crazy I would get the minimum amount then after it went past the minimum of 75 I started to panic. I got up and took a break and got myself together. I just remembered what they tell you at Hurst Review that if your still getting questions your still passing. I thought is was so crazy that over half my test was select all that apply. When the test ended at 150 I thought for sure I had failed. I came home and did the Pearson Vue trick and got the good pop up. I just hope it still works right and that I didn't do it too soon. I have had friends that went straight out of the test and looked at the PVT and got the good pop up and it worked. So I am hoping for the best. By the way all I did to study (other than nursing school itself) was Hurst Review and I really felt like it gave you an excellent review for the test. I did the live review then went home and watched the video's then read the book again and that was it.
  6. I took mine today and got 150. I was totally hoping and praying for 75 and once it hit 76 I had to get up and take a break because I started to panic. I just told myself if it is still going then I am still in the game. But then it shut off at 150 and I left the testing center numb. My test was over 50% select all that apply so I was sure I failed. I did the Pearson Vue trick and got the good pop up. Hopefully the trick worked for me. But all kinds of people are getting odd numbers and still passing. I bet you did fine.
  7. I don't know if it helps but I am hearing of more and more people these days getting the full 265! Even people from my class that got all A's in nursing school got 265. But, most of my friends that got the 265 have been passing it too. Only one friend hasn't.
  8. Well, I definitely got my question answered. I graduated on Dec 12th but already got offered a job at IMC before I even graduated. So, yes until you are licensed they start you out at $19.92 an hour, then once you pass nclex it bumps up to $21.92. After being a CNA and making CNA wages the past couple years I am very grateful for the increase. Oh, and about the IHC patient ratio's they are about the same as the person who works for Mountain Star. I have first hand knowledge of that since I work there. But it really is a great place to work. I love it and feel very lucky to already have a RN position at such an amazing hospital.
  9. I need some help from my fellow nursing students here. I am in my final semester of nursing school and I am really having trouble while taking my exams. I start out my exams ready and energized but midway through I start doing that clock watching and scrolling through the exam to see how many questions I have left. I most definitely recognize that I am getting tired of taking the test and this is where I am going wrong on my tests. I met with my instructor to go over my tests because I am struggling this semester. And on every test right when I reach the halfway point is when I really start to mess up. An example is on one of my exams I got every question on the first half right (shockingly), but after that I start missing a ton. I understand that the material is tough and I must be using a lot of my energy concentrating so hard but I hit that wall midway through and I lose all my marbles pretty much. I feel like at that point I just want the exam over so I don't concentrate as much. I have done research, and I have also asked my instructor for tips on how to avoid this wall. She wasn't much help unfortunately. I really need to be able to get through these tests and not hit this wall especially when it comes time to take the NCLEX. So I could definitely use some tips on how to do this. I am usually given two hours do complete the exams and I usually finish within an hour. So common sense would say to slow down and take my time but I am not terribly patient while testing so I am not sure how to do that. So any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
  10. I will graduate in December 2014. I am very excited that I will be done soon!
  11. I just came across this post I did a while back and I am just amazed at the kindness of the people on here. Thank you everyone for the kind words. I did read them back then but re-reading them now just makes me smile at how nice people are. I am so thankful to say that after a hard fight with my school I was able to get back in. I really had to fight the Associate Dean of Nursing though. She had no mercy but I won and got back in. And now I am getting ready to go into my last semester of nursing school this fall. Yay! One thing I have found is that so many people seem to have the poop hit the fan during nursing school. I have had a few friends that either got kicked out of nursing school or had to leave because nursing school was to much for what was going on in their lives at the moment. I don't know why things happen that way but I am sure grateful that I made it through and I am almost done. It took a whole lot of faith but I am almost done!!! Thanks again for all the wonderful comments and private messages. This is a great place for support.
  12. Thanks for the info ICUman. And I work at IMC, I love it there so hopefully I will get a job once I am an RN.
  13. Thanks, that is what I was thinking. It still is horribly low but it is a lot more than I am making now as a CNA through IHC.
  14. I know there are already topics on this but the old thread is old so I thought I would throw this out there so there is an updated thread. Anywho, I was just speaking to a new grad nurse who recently got a job within an IHC hospital. They only started her out as a new grad at $19.00!!! So, I want to know if anyone can confirm that this is what IHC is starting new grads at. Previous threads are showing $21-$22 per hour for IHC so I was shocked and appalled to find out that she only started at $19. If anyone can let me know if they know for sure what they are starting new grads out at here in Utah please let me know. If this is the case I am moving out of state. That is horrible pay. I know there may be people that will tell me to be grateful for it but with all we have to go through just to finish school I think we deserve a lot better. Especially when we have a ton of student loans to pay for when there done. Thanks!
  15. I am sure by now you know if some of the basic things to do for your job. If you are still being trained by a mentor ask them to let you do some of the stuff you do know by yourself. That will help build confidence. That was the best thing I did when I was first learning my job. Another thing I did because I had some problems figuring out my daily schedule is I had my mentor drill me on the normal daily tasks.
