  1. thank you all for the help and advice. I will definitely keep it all in mind
  2. I meant to say CNA not CAN ha
  3. no there is one male who actually got a male can fired while the male was performing peri care. there is another female resident who has tried the same thing. and now im just paranoid
  4. pleeeaseeee leave comments!!
  5. Thank you for trying to help! I may have to read it a few more times to really understand but that's ok. Thank you!
  6. Ok so ive been hearing stories about residents FALSELY accusing CNAs of sexual harassment at the nursing home I work at. I am now literally terrified to do peri care on anyone because im afriaid im gonna get accused of being a freak. If this happens I will lose my job and I know everyone will start to look at me differently, even if I really was just trying to clean them (girlfriend, family members etc.) and im soooo scared. I cant ask another CNA to come watch me do peri care every single time I have to do it. What do I do??? Like today I had to do peri care on a resident and I was going in for a second wipe and he told me "that's enough" and it terrified me and now im afraid he thinks I was being a perv or something when I was only trying to get him clean??? I need tips on how to avoid ruining my life because of false accusations. And if I do get accused, will I get arrested on the spot or what? I almost want to quit being a CNA because of this no joke
  7. I really hope I get the hang of things soon :/
  8. thank you so much!! and believe me I don't call them diapers at work haha I don't know why I said that and im sorry. and I didn't mean the pullups. for example I have a REALLY big resident whos in bed almost 24/7 and when I have to clean him up I have to roll him to the side, tuck it under his bottom, roll him towards me and pull it out from the other said, then strap it on. but sometimes I cant seem to get it on the right way and its so frustrating!!!!
  9. Ok so I started working a week ago. I'm in the very last days of my orientation/training. I feel like after a week I should have a lot of it down but I keep finding myself flustered and running around looking for stuff like an idiot. Im just looking for really good universal tips from experienced CNAs who work in hectic nursing homes. Don't get me wrong I like my job and I love helping people but im just too damn slow. I would absolutely LOVE my job if I was GOOD at it ha. I go back tomorrow so I want to cram some good info in my head before. what are good tips to put on diapers on the bigger residents? what are good ways to get them dressed quicker? just small things like that. please don't just answer those two questions and call it good, I want some good tips and a lot if you can. but if you don't want to type a lot, its fine. I just wanna be good at my job so I can enjoy it more and not stress. THANK YOU.
  10. I feel lost at work. All I know how to do is follow my mentor and do what they ask me to do. I'm so nervous to be on my own next week what are some tips to help me better understand how everything works? I am so tired of stressing out its exhausting me. I guess the best way is to just ask questions. but there is so much to remember its freaking nerve racking sometimes! I hope I can handle it.
  11. thank you sooo much! i will try to not worry so much :)
  12. thank you!!!!!! made me feel much better. still nervous haha
  13. So ive already stated in my past posts that I have no experience. I have already gotten some advice but I want more. I had my orientation today and I am scheduled to work from 6am to 2pm all week, starting tomorrow morning. I will have a mentor/trainer to show me the ropes and everything but I AM SO. FREAKIN. NERVOUS. I do not know why. This is my VERY first job, let alone first CNA job ha. I have no experience with dealing with another human beings private life and it is so nerve racking im about to have an anxiety attack. I am a HUGE worry wart and I don't like knowing I have all this responsibility on my shoulders. so please, I wanna know from your experiences when you were just a newbie like myself, and tell me your mistakes so I can learn from them. THANK YOU. I love this website.
  14. Thanks dave! im excited to be a part of the club, but more nervous. Im worried about them asking me to do something and then freezing up. I have a tendency to freeze and be too embarrassed to ask questions ha. Theres just too much from the class that I forgot and I PRAY they re-teach me most of it
  15. Thank you!!!! you both made me feel much better believe it or not.
