2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
Apparently I was accepted to York on May 28th? They didn't even send me an email or anything.... I was an internal applicant. I haven't gotten a rejection from U of T yet, but last year I didn't get one until the 17th of June.

York University-second entry nursing students for Sept 2013
I was accepted (as an internal student) on may 28th, but they didn't send me anything to let me know so I just found out today. No email, no snail mail... nothing. Strange. Did anyone else have this problem?

If you have a student login already, if you log into the current students website and go to "money matters" section, they might have it under student account or something.

Internal applicants won't hear back until june(from what I was told), but definitely. So long as you also have high grades in the pre-reqs. They told me I had a good shot at getting in and my GPA is lower than yours and I don't have a degree.

Volunteer and Work Experiences
Also, how long term were those volunteer commitments? There is a preference for long term, frequent volunteer work.

Volunteer and Work Experiences
I'm from BC and I knew so many amazing students who didn't make it into the program and I have no idea why. These were straight A students, top of their classes, presidents of clubs, with TONS of volunteer work. I have no idea what they're looking for at UBC, but I would send an email during the off-season, or try calling or going to an info session. Did you already have a bachelors degree? Or just 2 years of school? Because that's a huge one.

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
I was accepted to McMaster today!!! Conditional acceptance based on completion of the courses I'm currently in at %70+ Application Stats: A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising.

[h=1]From the OUAC Website: Common Questions[/h][h=2]When I accept an offer of admission, does it mean that I will not be considered for any other offers?[/h]Accepting an offer of admission from one university will not cancel your application to other universities and/or programs. However, you may have only one acceptance of an offer on file at a time. Before you can accept a subsequent offer online, you must first cancel the previously accepted offer currently on file. Note: If you submit a subsequent paper acceptance, the OUAC will automatically cancel your previously accepted offer. I hope it's not too late!!

UofT 2013
I applied last year and was rejected with a 3.53 in my last 30 credits (equivalent to 1 full year of studies in BC). I had to report a C+ on the pre-req form, and I also only had 2 years post secondary. This year my GPA is 3.63 and I am in 3rd year at York for an Honours BA Psychology. I have also just started a thread which includes U of T, Mac, and York if anyone has applied to multiple schools. Good luck to everyone!

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
Hello all, Just starting a thread here for any applicants to the 2nd Entry Nursing Program for U of T, York, and Mac. People can: -ask questions and/or post when they have received an offer of admission or rejection -share their marks/volunteer experience -support each other during the super stressful waiting game -discuss application issues, essay questions, prerequisites, etc. There was one last year and I found it super helpful to see what others were doing, when offers were going out, and which candidates were selected. It's also a good reference for next year's potential applicants. For myself, I have applied to U of T, Mac, York, and Dalhousie, with an A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising. Last year I was rejected from U of T with 3.53 in the last 30 credits, and only 2 years post-secondary. I had a C+ in one of my reported pre-requisites. Hope this helps everyone and best of luck to you all!!

acceptance to accelerated programs in ON
In case anyone else has been consuming their finger nails, it might be helpful to know that I received my rejection letter from U of T today, so if you haven't, good news may still lie ahead! Good luck to all!

Congrats!! Very exciting stuff!

Exactly! With so many people applying to multiple schools, and plans changing, there is still a ton of time. For those of you who might also be unaware, your application may not become competitive until after your final grades are released, so some of you may not even be in the race yet.

acceptance to accelerated programs in ON
Oh wow, I had no idea they accepted so many people without degrees at Mac, and so few at U of T. As for Mac I don't have any biochemistry credits, and at the university I go to in BC there are at least 4 pre-req courses for biochem. It would take me 3 semesters to get in, and then 2 semesters to finish. ...Meanwhile "nutrition" counts as a biochem course at Mac... So confusing. You're remarkably well spoken, even on a forum, so I don't doubt that had something to do with it. :) You also have some incredible volunteer work, so I doubt your entire application hinged on a year of school.

I think that it would make a bit of a difference that you had more education; they definitely value that in the application process. If you don't mind my asking, what were you studying/what were most of your courses in?

Yaaaay! You just gave me hope!! I've only done two years, but if I can even just make it on the waiting list, I'll be happy! Congrats!

Unfortunately I threw all my eggs in one basket and only applied to U of T. I put their Health Sciences program down as my 2nd choice- If I must get an under grad before I get into Nursing then so be it. Did you apply anywhere else?

Sigh..boxxyrn, I am completely in the same boat with the whole "degree holder preference" thing. It is the most nerve-racking experience I think I've ever had. :uhoh21: Does anyone know if they send rejection letters? Because if they do, that would mean I'm still good enough for consideration, which would be just enough hope to keep me going.
