  1. yeah, Ball is a good place to work I've heard! I had clinicals there my last semester and I really liked it :-)
  2. Yeah, I really like it!! The pay is really nice and the unit managers and DON are awesome! We have a couple girls from Marion, and even one from Gas City that work there :-)
  3. Oh no :-( I was thinking the summer was only a transition lab unless you have been out longer than 2 years. but my class took mental health and i know they have added that and removed it from the LPN program a few times. They also broke up our pharm into an intro and advanced class. I hope it all goes well for you! I know I had to quit my job last year for my summer LPN schedule...3 lecture days and 2 clinical 12hr days..yikes! it was awful, but we all made it through and passed! our teachers were very understanding. good thing you've saved up some, that will help. I understand about buying a house..we are looking for one now. I hate renting..just throwing away money. Keep me updated, I'll be praying things work out well for you! :-)
  4. Thank you again! sorry you had to wait a little longer than you expected..but at least you're in and start soon :)
  5. that's good it's a lot closer for you! I live right off 69 in Muncie so Marion isn't too far from me. I agree- I wish we didn't have to go back to school..it sure is a drag! LPN school took a lot out of me, it was a year of non stop studying. Good luck in orientation & can't wait to hear from you :)
  6. my TEAS expired in March I made the cut off to apply but since I didn't get in, I'll have to retake it. but I will definitely retake anatomy and get an A and I will more than likely retake psych as well! Thanks :) wish we were in class together..lol but good luck & you'll have to let me know how you like it/how hard it is!
  7. I know! that's what I was thinking :-( maybe a spot will open up somewhere, like it did for the LPN program... *fingers crossed*
  8. yeah, I was hoping my TEAS would help my score because I had a C in Anatomy 2, a B in psych and As in English and Anatomy 1. I was signed up to retake anatomy 2 for January '12 but got an offer for the LPN program and of course took it! I only applied to one region because one of my teachers said everyone that applies to the transition almost always gets in--so I didn't worry! obviously she was wrong -.-
  9. ahh, I just saw this..at least you are in the program now & will be a RN soon :) do you know if they will have the Spring transition starting this January 2014? I live in Muncie and I was really hoping to start in January rather than next May when my region offers it -.-
  10. Thank you! I just ordered a study guide for the TEAS as I am determined to do even better this time around :-) I had an 80 last time.. I aim to go back within the 2 years for the same reason! Hopefully it will be a little easier since you are already a nurse and have some background/experience. I'm sure the year will fly by and you will be a RN before you know it :)
  11. Area: EAST CENTRAL INDIANA Starting rate: LPNS- $16.50/hr (working 12 hour shifts, the first 8 are 16.50 and the last 4 hours are time & a half, so $24.75) but no overtime because of that. Holidays are time & a half for the full 12 hrs. If they call you in, they always pay time & a half or double time I work in a nursing home on a skilled nursing hall. I believe the RN's start out at $24.50/hr
  12. CONGRATS!!!
  13. Hello! Congrats on becoming an LPN! I too am a brand new LPN (graduate in Dec12) I am from Muncie, IN...and around here the only place that hires LPN's are nursing homes. I am currently working the night shift at a nursing home on a skilled nursing unit. There are some IV's, wounds & catheters on my hall..which is nice since I cannot get the full experience that I would at a hospital. I also feel that I have (almost) mastered med passes and feel comfortable with Narcs! I really enjoy my job, but am planning to further my education and get my RN through Ivy Tech (hopefully starting in Jan) and then I can work in a hospital! Have you tried any nursing homes, or even home health care? We also have blood banks..where they donate plasma, etc. that hire LPNs around here. Good luck and don't give up! It is nice to get nursing experience while going back, that way when we are RN's we have some experience over brand new nurses!
  14. thank you libran1984 for the encouragement! I just graduate in December '12 as a LPN from the Anderson campus and am currently working at a nursing home on a skilled nursing hall..where I live there are not any hospitals to hire LPNS I am hoping to get into a transition program for January, since I was not accepted for this May I am retaking ANP102 and my TEASV to better my chances. (which I was planning on doing anyways but I got a call & took a spot for the LPN program last Jan12) I hear that Lawrence & Richmond have the option to start the transition in January. Do you know of any other campuses that offer this as well? Otherwise, I will have to wait until next May to start...and I want to get back into school asap :)
  15. Thank you! I have looked, but not all say if it's the transition or not, it just says the deadline. I am in Muncie and wouldn't mind to travel an hour or 2. :) I know I will be applying to Lawrence and Richmond and if I know of any others I will apply there too! thanks for the reply! :-D
  16. I have found out that Lawrence & Richmond have the LPN-ASN transition that starts in January--have to apply by September 1. :-D If anyone knows of any other campuses that have this option please let me know! I want to have a good chance of getting in this time :)
  17. Yes, I met with an advisor last summer before I graduated about going there. He told me I could test out of some classes but the nursing ones I have to go at ISU's pace and it takes 4 years! So I decided against it because I don't really want to take that long
  18. hey everyone! I am pretty new to using this website..well besides reading posts. I just graduated in December as a LPN and am wanting to get my RN (ASAP). I have researched some schools.. BallState for the LPN-BSN would take me 3-4 years--even with all my credits I already have! not to mention the lady i met with was so rude to me! TCN is absolutely not a choice for me. I have looked into Excelsior, but being a brand new nurse without hospital experience (I work in a nursing home) I am not too sure about that with only 3 clinical days at the end. I've also looked into Harrison College in Indy (since they ARE accredited now)..but have not heard back from them, so not sure how long it takes etc. I read online that MedTech in Fort Wayne IS accredited for the RN program now..but I am still iffy about that too. WGU takes 2.5 years for the BSN and I don't want to take that long..I have about 98 college credits already. Ivy Tech did not accept me for the LPN-ASN program in my region From what I have heard they did not accept as many people due to losing teachers.. My number one choice would be to go back to Ivy tech because it is cheaper. **Can anyone in Indiana tell me if their region offers the LPN-ASN transition in January 2014?! I think I missed the application deadline for fall 2013. I really do not want to wait until May 2014 to start the RN program...I wouldn't be a RN until May 2015 then Any replies and/or advice would be greatly appreciated! I would love to hear your experiences with any of these colleges/programs. Thanks!!
