The Asn program is very different from the bsn program. The Bsn program is still in the trials and error stage...that's all I'll say about that ..congrats and good luck!

Ooh... I would suggest getting a private tutor for the teas beyond a study guide. Even if you find a school that don't require teas, hesi, etc...what about the nclex? I don't think it's fair there's only one style of testing but unfortunately I don't see how your going o get around all the tests that you have to take o be license. Good luck

Be encourage! You are in a career that's very diverse and you can specialize if you choose to or go toward another closely related fields. Getting a nursing degree doesn't have to be what you do for the rest of your career. Finish up your degree that you have worked so hard for. Don't quit and don't despair!

Great thread and great advice! I start the nursing school process in January and every sabbath I plan on putting away the books turning everything off and just relaxing... I just don't believe that stressing out and putting nursing school above all else is a practice of good nurse or even something someone should do if they want to remain sane... Life is too short!!! I want to be a nurse only because I deeply care about patient care.. That being said I don't want to end up stress out where my health is in jeopardy. Good luck with this profession and good job on staying sane!

Personally, I agree with his statement and I believe in God. However, God doesn't want you living for food or practicing gluttony. Let us help you manage this issue and God will help you be wiser in your food choices... I'm not sure what laws or rules/ regulations that are broken by this statement but I being a patient and wanting my care provider to be considerate on my belief... This is around what I would accept as acceptable .... My biggest concerns are atheist... I don't want to offend anyone ...and I'm praying ill be able to provide care without offending them with my belief. Good luck

So much can happen between now and your prereqs getting done. If its possible work on controling your diabetes and have a baby. Prereqs alone took me one year and that's me going to school back to back including summer. Since you're going to keep working and take prereqs part time, I'm guessing it's going to take you at least 1 and half years. Having a baby is one thing, the nine months is probably the easiest compare to the new baby at home, sleepless night, and pure exhaustion that comes after the 9 months. If I could do it again, I would have had the baby ASAP while completing the prereqs and that way by the time you're in nursing school the child can be at least sleeping through the night. I am also considering getting pregnant, but I told my husband I might have to start my Accelerated program and start trying to have a baby 6 months before graduation. I don't mind prolonging working to have a baby, but I am not prolonging going to nursing school.

I don't know of any career that's live up to the hype. Focus on what you can control and don't worry about the rest. I am switching career from teaching to nursing and teaching wasn't what I thought it would be. The same problem, productivity and treating students like they are task versus people. Looking back the deciding factor for me was getting burn out too quickly without being able to provide for my family. Stay in your job, know that everyone else is feeling overwhelm, pay your bills and go on vacations with your love ones. You just need an outlet and a way to manage that much stress. Know that it doesn't get better and learn to be okay with that. ps. I'm not yet a nurse but I plan on listening to inspirational music, lectures, whatever to get me through the BS.

Follow your instinct. There's a reason why you are questioning this program. The NCLEX passing rate is a concern but you sound like you shouldn't have a problem regardless of whatever school you attend. My sister who's a nurse say the same thing, the school doesn't matter as long as you pass the board, but for me I plan on specializing in a certain field so that's something I have to consider when choosing a school. Good luck in whatever choice you make.

All those are great, but with the army it's not even that complicated. If there's a spot available you would get it. It's been more than 3 years since I was recruiting and I have a few friends who still recruit for nurses. Hopefully you can get station of choice as part of your package. Like I said before, if there's a spot for you in Korea, you will get it. Goodluck :)
