what to expect for my skills exam?
Looks like Texas uses the NAACP/Pearson Vue test. They give 5 skills chosen at random from a list available on their website. They also have the critical steps for each skill listed on their website. One important thing...you can self-correct, so if you catch yourself making a mistake or realize you skipped something...say so and usually you can go back and do it right. I have website with all the links, blog articles on the test in my profile...good luck!

Hard time finding a job :(
I worked in LTC for a few months then wanted some more hours so I signed on with a home health company...I loved it! One patient at a time (instead of 20) and you feel like you have the time to really take good care of them. I was nervous doing something new at first but for orientation I went with another CNA to a couple clients' houses and realized I could totally do it.

CNA state exam tomorrow... sooo nervous (NC)
I think you'll do great...remember to breathe, try to relax (I know), and remember patient first (privacy, safety, etc). Good luck!!!!

Would you take this particular CNA class? Input please!!
I would be extremely suspicious about a 2 day class. Couple ideas...depending on your state you may be able to 'challenge' the state CNA test with the nursing school experience you have, most states require a certain number of clinical hours and a nursing fundamentals course. Also, most states maintain a list of approved CNA training programs...make sure this program is approved by your state or your wasting your time and money. Good luck!

How does a Junior Nursing student go about getting CNA
I'm not sure but it looks like you have to take a CNA class or actually graduate from nursing school before you can take the CNA test in New York (in most states you can challenge the test after a certain amount of class/clinical time)

Nursing Student (R.N. Program) but Interested in being a CNA for a Summer Job
hey- it look like you can become a CNA without taking the training program... this is from the Connecticut Department of Public Health "A student enrolled in a LPN or RN program may request to challenge the test by providing original transcripts of their education verifying they have completed the basic nursing fundamentals and skills that are covered in a nurse aide training program." So maybe you can just take the exam. good luck in school!
