12 days until nclex, finished kaplan Qbank now what?
Highly recommend reviewing all the questions so you have the content down.. the answers you got right AND the ones you got wrong.. To pass you need Kaplan strategies AND content... take the last question trainer about two days before your exam so you have time to review the test in a similar manner... then take the last day to just relax.. resist the urge to cram etc... get a mani pedi.. what ever you do to relax... worked for me 75 qs and good pop up... just waiting for official results... hope this helps :-)

Clinical Failure
Not to be mean but yah you should never be late to clinicals.. It really reflects poorly on you... Set an early alarm, have all your stuff ready the night before so you just get up, get ready and go... As far as nail polish... again not to be mean but no nurse should be wearing ANY nail polish..Your nails will harbor microbes... I really stopped reading there... You should really think about why you chose the path in the first place and focus on that... It is not easy but it is worth it and being a nurse... you can make such a huge difference in people's lives if you do it right... Set your mind to it if this is really what you want to do... It is ok if this is truly not for you... :-) If so then use your talents in other areas... You did well on the technical stuff... perhaps another focus area like respiratory or XRAY or Dental... YOu have to want to succeed... anyhoo... I wish you the very best

If I hate being a Cna, should I stop pursuing Nursing?
I would try to stick it out... Also perhaps look at volunteering at different settings. I did at a hospital and there is much more out there... Many cna schools only work with senior or hospice care.. you are really only seeing a small portion of medicine there... much different in a hospital or outpatient center etc... I work as a CNA in a med surg/ telemetry unit and we see pretty much everything. I really enjoy it... BUT I remember really not enjoying my clinical time in CNA school.. it was not like what I do now.. still lots of poop but the facility is better, ventilation system is better and frankly the nurses are sharper...I am in nursing school now and have no regrets

Is it normal to go from straight As in prereqs to b- grades in nursing classes
Totally... Its a learning process... I also started studying the topics and then once I had the topic down- usually summarized onto large index cards, then I would start testing myself from NCLEX review books.. Saunders is good... Lippencott sp? too.. Those helped me to think in NLCEX / Comcept mode... versus memorization mode. Keep your head up... Our class also started a facebook page to share ideas files study suggestions ETC. If you don't have one in your class - I would totally suggest starting one up.. Its not like med school where we are fighting to be one of the 50% that will make it through and we compete against each other. W/ RN its more of a teamwork thing - So support each other it will make life in nursing school soooooo much easier.. :-)

how many calories do you think nursing burns up?
Hmmm you could use a pedometer and see? I know I essentially walk all night. I think 12 hours on your feet moving at a fairly brisk pace = a few good calories!! Just say no to the snacks that seem to be ever present.. or bring healthy ones.
