so what does the provisional mean?

so where do i look to see if Galen is accredited or not. I plan on taking the LPN to RN at their st pete campus this year. I go in Tuesday to take the entrance exam.

i have an interview tomorrow at the jail in our county and reading this is really giving me seconds thoughts on whether i should go or not. I have 4 children at home and I dont want to go to walmart and run into an old inmate that didnt like me or something.

I'm a new nurse about to start on a Ventilator unit at a small hospital. Any advice? I'm nervous to death. i guess it's because i'm not sure what to expect or what i'll be dealing with on a day to day basis. I was told that i'll be working with IV's alot and that i'll be going through six weeks of training with a preceptor, the max number of patients i'll have will be 8. I really don't know what to say or ask but if you guyz have some pointers or tips i'd really appreciate it.

i used saunder's....make sure you know maslow, prioritize, "what would u do first" "which patient would you see first?" know your signs and symptoms that is a big thing and learn how to read the questions and never change your first answer!

i know how you feel i spent the majority of nursing school looking for a job, all i kept getting was "you need to be working as an lpn for at least a year" some 2 years. Then i was told to get my cna license to work as a nurse tech, so i did that in feb of last year and still nothing i graduated in july of 2004 and got my license in january and i had been looking since then, finally i got a job just yesterday as a nurse on the ventilator unit, at a small hospital in my area....never even knew this hospital existed. Just keep looking, pray about it and the right job will come along when u least expect it....Good Luck :)

Sorry it took me awhile to answer, the classes are at Erwing Tech on 2301 E. Hillsborough Ave, it costs $130.00 plus about $40 for the book, go to www.erwintech.org and look up part time evening courses btw i found a job at Kindred Healthcare, i'm going to be working on ventilator unit....eeeks, if ever i was nervous this is it. But i'm glad i'll be doing something like this. The recruiter told me if i could handle ventilated patients i can do it all, i have 6 weeks of orientation and the max number of patients i'll be handling at the end of my orientation is 8.....wish me luck on my journey.

I finally found an IV class i start on tuesday so hopefully this will get my foot in the door. I'll let you know how things are going. I'm still looking in the paper in the meantime. But i am definately going to get my rn. There is this new hospice that opened up in my city, and of course they stated that their staff consists of dr's, rn's and hha......WHERE ARE THE LPN'S!!!???

i thought it was just me, everytime i look on the hospitals websites they want lpn II's and they want one years med-surg exp. it's very discouraging when i cant get into the branch of nursing that i want, i feel as if i'm being forced to do otherwise. how do i get around it?

maybe i'm totally off the subject but earlier this year i worked as a CNA for an agency. I was called to do an 11p-7a shift at a LTC. I was 4 months pregnant, not that i was complaining, but the facility was aware of this, anyways i was assigned to 10 pts on the alzheimer unit. My nurse gave me my assignments for the evening and the other cna had 10 pts. In my opinion, it seems as if they gave me the neediest pts on the floor.(thats just my opinion) Out of the 10, 7 were up all night, so all night i'm running back and forth helping this one to the bathroom, changing another, making sure the other doesn't fall out of her chair, getting slapped for changing a diaper of a confused and combative patient. While getting my 4 pts up in the am.... the nurse (who was filing her nails eating popcorn disappearing from the floor and balancing her checkbook all night) came and found me to tell me that my pt had crapped all over herself and the bed and that i need to go clean her up so she can give her her med. While walking down the hall to the other pt room, I see the nurse and the other aide just chit chatting and on top of it the pt who crapped on herself, was combative and refused to sit still. When i asked for help, the other aide stated she had to get her other pts up. Now, after she informed me of her so called tasks i still heard chit chat out of the room......NO FAIR. From my experience in nursing school, we had to help the aides if we were not doing anything and most of the time we weren't doing anything. to all my nurses out there HELP YOUR AIDES especially if you have time to chitchat, file your nails, pop grapes in your mouth at the nurses station, balance your checkbook, call your sweetie, eat popcorn, then sip some diet coke and go MIA every thirty minutes. WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT :chair: (don't beat me up lol)

i'm a nervous wreck right about now, i can't sleep i've been up since 6 this morning, i took the test at 11 and as silly as it sounds ive been checking the web to see if my results are in, u know maybe the sped things up before the new year...wishful thinking. Argh!!!

yeah i can look on my states website, but i don't know if they will count tomorrow as a business day... thats why i'm thinking i'll find out next week

I took the nclex-pn today and omg i don't know what to think, I feel like i did good but then there is doubt in my mind. Needless to say i probably have to wait until after the new years holiday to find out my results. I had lot of prioritizing questions, 1 math question(which was so easy), but i'm just going to be nervous as all **** wondering if i passed or not. I took 152 questions in about 3 hrs. I'll update you guys good or bad on my results whenever i get them.

I would be very angry because you are not there for prayers. A nurse is there to provide medical assistance and care not religious services. If you feel the need to pray then maybe you picked the wrong career because the church is always hiring. Serious, if someone was praying to satan would you be upset. I don't believe in gods or devils so, if i happen to die please rush my body to a cryno center and preserve me until science can bring me back. Less prayer and more science would be ideal. P.s If you are a churchie or devil worshipper and it(religion) works for you then continue as long as you are happy. P.S. This is the husband for a nurse so, don't hammer her too much on the boards. I just received my att today! any suggestions on how to prepare, i've been studying both saunders comprehensive and q&a for pn and referring to my med-surg books.

Will I not be able to set my own date to test or will NCS Pearson assign a test date to me once I've been given ATT?
