  1. As far fingerprints go... You do them after the application is turned in. Remember that the application does not start getting processed right away.... If you search for the status of applications through the California Board of nursing you will see that it takes them about a month or two to only start processing. its these steps: 1.gather hard card, documents, and info needed for app 2. submit app 3. send in fingerprints AND transcripts 4. wait until they contact you or you get your number.
  2. def do the online application. youll need to request transcripts directly from the schools to go directly to the CBON address. I hear the livescan makes the application process faster, but I was not about to fly out to get my finger scanned. took me about 5 months to process. using hard card.
  3. I had everything ready to send before filing the application (just have the hard card in your hand, and all the school info you need, be ready to request transcripts too). I wrote all my degrees related to nursing (ADN and BSN) and the prereqs (I had 4 colleges total). safer to just include everything. after I filed the application I requested my schools to send transcripts the next day directly to the CBON. that next day I also went in and got my hard card fingerprints. I sent it in using 1-day certified mail (they want both fingerprint cards sent, but I only sent one and it didn't make a dif in the end - I emailed the fingerprint dept at the CBON to make sure it was fine). it took me almost 5 months to get my lic number. I filed in mid November, and I got my lic number early march.
  4. Did you include a check when you sent your fingerprint hard cards? did you send 2 cards or 1?
  5. Hi everyone I am getting ready to drop a few hundred dollars on this application and I just was hoping that someone who has gone through the process could answer a few questions. I have my fingerprint card, I have access to my schools and ready to transfer transcripts, and I am ready with the license verification off of nursys. question 1: after you finish your fingerprint card are you responsible to send it in, and if so does it simply get sent into the board of nursing? question 2: under the education history tab, I have some prerequisites that were done in a different college that I did not earn my nursing degree from, would you add them into the nursing history tab? I am aware that I have to send transcripts from the school where I did my prerequisites, but does it need to be noted on the application?

Hi everyone, I had a question about being able to work, specifically with a travel agency [in a temporary manner away from the home state]. If I reside in a compact state, such as Maryland, and would like to work in another compact state, such as CO would I be able to just pick up and go, or do I need to apply for a multistate license?
  7. Did the program provide you with clinical instructors?
  8. the program was straightforward at first, that is until CAPSTONE!... it took me almost 6 months to get my site approved... something that could of been started prior to the slated start of the class (GCU only started the process of looking for a site with me 2 months before the class)... to avoid a headache select an APPROVED site for capstone... classes were well structured, but like i said before... capstone for me, or at least getting my site was a nightmare at the least
  9. what was the total number of classes you had to take? i think mine will be 9 once the capstone is taken (i transfered 2 nursing classes toward a BSN from a dif univ.)
  10. would like to update on capstone: after more than 4 months of waiting i have started the capstone lol does anyone know how to complete the ISP (individual success plan)?
  11. thank you all for the advice!
  12. you have a case and are able to sue... but be warned it might not be good for your future nursing career..
  13. Hey all, I am looking to get into the ICU coming from the OR. I have not "floor" experience. And was wondering which unit would be the best experience to get me into ICU if I was not to be lucky enough to get in right away. I would like to transition into floor care, here is what I narrowed down so far: ER (at a level 1 or 2) PACU IMC/ Tele Externship in ICU Would 6 months be enough to show I am ready for ICU, or would you advise the externship?
  14. is this what the first assignment looks like in the capstone class?
  15. thank you, im considering starting my capstone this way too.. or at least starting the course just to glimpse the assignements and drop if i have to until site approval.. only issue is that it'd show up on the transcript until i retake the course.
  16. i have been getting vague answers as well... the bottom line is this (as far as i understand): -you need 100 hours of work on your project (research hours)- this can be done at home -almost all if not all of the hours can be done without a site (at home, and you meet your mentor "off site" like at a starbucks) -you must have the affiliation agreement in place before the end of the course
  17. that is what they told me as well.. I am not getting a response from the site and it has been about a week now... I have been waiting for my capstone to start for almost 2 months now
  18. did you start the course without a site approval? they told me it can be done, but also stated that you can NOT pass without a site affiliation.. You can do hours off site according to them, and you have to basically meet with the instructor "off site"
  19. has anyone here gone through the process of site approval between GCU and your site of choice for the capstone course? I am being told that this process could take 6 MONTHS! (I've already been waiting for one month) We can't pass the course without site affiliation...
  20. i am actually in the same boat as you! i finished all my classess with A's and one B+. my practicum was scheduled for august and 1st contact about getting a site AND mentor was done in eatly june... so about 2 months before the class. after turning in all the documents for the site and mentor, im being told that the approval process could take 2 weeks to... wait for it... 6 MONTHS ... extremely frusterated... I have been calling and emailing them everyday so that they speed up the process... this really throws students that are online under the bus...
  21. has anyone joined the JHH bayview ICU new grad program?? i am thinking of applying there..
  22. I studied from the official study guide for the TEAS 5- the math is well explained in it.. i actually had trouble with the english
  23. i had a grades of 90% PICOT, 96% qual, and 98% quan; but only quan went over the limit by a couple hundred- in the last paper i went over by almost 1000 words this waiting is killing me
  24. Hey flames, do you mind sending a PM my way as well? Going into ethics next... just finished research... wheww....
