  1. Hello I'm an LVN (same thing as LPN ) in California and graduated in December 2012, and personally since I was already working in a psychiatric facility it took a month to start working as an LVN but most of my classmates took almost a year to land their first job and some of them haven't been able to find a job till this day, I guess it does depend on your location and how hard you tried to find a job, when I passed my boards I applied at 36 different places and had no calls . My started hourly pay was $23.19. I guess as soon as you find a job you will feel that is worth it getting your license don't give up and FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.
  2. Hello no union, no government facility and according to he DON and her investigation since nobody got hurt by me presingning the MARS and since all the residents received the right MEDS she is not reporting the incident to the state, thanks
  3. Hello well if you have read my previous post before you would kind of know my trouble story:(. but if you haven't let me give you a quick re-cap. Oh in advance PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT TO TELL ME THAT WHAT I DID WAS SOOOO Wrong that I should be ashamed of myself PLEASE I ALREADY KNOW THAT. Ok here is my story; I'm an LVN working on LTC psych facility in California. On March 10th pre-sign the MARS for the following day March 11th, Night nurse catch this complain to the DON the same day, I kept passing MEDS until March 26th, On March 26th I go in to talk to the DON why I didn't have no schedule for April she said "well you pre-sign the MARS on the 10th so I'm going to have to suspend you, and you had one day passing MEDS I'm taking that away and let you do treatments" 3 hours later I get a suspension which was going to start on April 1st to the 4th. March 29th go in to see the DON and asked her what are they planning on doing also tell her that I was resigning she stated "well if you leave is going to be abandonment of employment, we have nobody to cover your shift so wait until the 4th we thinking of terminating you, but we let you know then, sorry to keep you hanging" had a meeting on April 4th and was terminated. Please note that I have never been fired. during my 2 year employment with them I had perfect reviews and I never got any other disciplinary actions but this one. so my question is why wasn't I terminated on the 11th if what I did was so so wrong? why was I allow to continue passing meds until the 26th? why they didn't suspend me right away instead of April 1st-4th? was the Termination by cause? ANY ADVICE? I'm so confused
  4. I went to the DON office on the 29th and I personally told her I was resigning and she stated that if I resign it was going to be abandonment of employment because they had nobody to cover my shift, then she stated well just wait until the 4th we thinking of terminating you anyways, I think it was kind of good she didn't let me re-sign because if I had re-sign I wouldn't be able to get unemployment, now that I got fired I might have a chance to get it.
  5. Hello suzie I wasn't allow to resign, as I stated last week I was informed I was going to be terminated on the 4th and I indeed was terminated yesterday, the DON informed that they are going to fight my unemployment so I don't know if I'm going to be able to win this, I feel so depressed and tired of this, I won't have no other source of income if I don't get unemployment and I don't think I will be finding a job any time soon so depressing
  6. hello there I actually tried to resign last Friday but the DON did not let me, she informed me that she was thinking of terminating me, I was terminated yesterday
  7. Hello again there well she didn't even said I was a bad nurse, when I went in there to asked what they were planing on doing with me, she just told me straight up "well we are thinking about terminating your employment with us, but I can't give you a decision until the 4th when we meet" at that the time I was "well do you want me to just resign right now?" and the DON was "well like I said just wait until the 4th and I'll have a decision by then" I'm seriously living a night mare today was my last day of work with them, and I didn't even wanted to go to work because I feel soooo USED by this company, I already filed for unemployment but I know they are going to fight it so I might have to appeal it if they do and take it to court.
  8. Hello there yes they are going to terminate me on the 4th, after my 4 day suspension which is from April 1st-4th on the 4th I have a meeting with the DON but I talked to her this past Friday and I was made aware that they are planning on terminating my employment, so I pretty much know that they are just going to give me my check and send me out the door, and I strongly believe the reason they didn't fired me on the 26th is because they did not have anybody to cover my shift so they decided to put me on treatments until they had somebody to replace me, the new person started training the same day I was giving a suspension notice so now they have replacement for me so they are letting me go, and yes it was kind of weird how they took so long to suspend me since the incident happen on March 10th and I was giving a suspension notice on March 26th, they are not giving me another chance to learn from my mistakes and correct them, even know the DON said that what I did had not adverse effect on the patient care I provided the day so I'm aware that they are going to fired me Next week for sure.
  9. Yes this is the same place, they started drastically reducing my hours starting in January, but like I mention in a previous post they were doing this even when I was working full time as a CNA, they reduce me to CNA part time and then to on call LVN, and today I found out they are actually going to fired me on the 4th, I'm not going to get another chance like the other employees who have done worst things than pre-signing the mars, just let me add that I have no other disciplinary actions in my file other than this 4 day suspension for pre-signing the mars
  10. Hello there thanks for your post I did not sign the NARC count the night before, you don't know how bad I feel by doing what I did, I do not have a habit of taking short cuts when working I seriously don't understand why I did this I have never done it before and certainly I won't do it again.
  11. YES I was kind of influence by how my place of work is, I mean all their "HOUSE RULES" get broken on a daily basis but this doesn't justify for me to do what I did, since I started working here I had always tried really hard to be one of the "good nurses" which is not really many at the facility where I worked they all cover their backs unless you are not one of their race then they throw you under the bus quick, I feel really ashamed of myself because I did exactly what I told myself I would never do, be like the rest of my Co-Workers
  12. thanks for the post, i have not tried to justify what I did in anyway, I was really honest with the DON, I told her that no I wasn't thinking and that yes I did sign the MARS the night before and that indeed I felt like I deserve to be suspended and yes I have always learned from my mistakes and this will be one of the ones that I WOULD NEVER DO, and yes so far this has been the worst and the only mistake I have made since I have been a LVN and I will make sure this will be the last one thanks for your post
  13. Hello guys wow thanks for all the posts. well I just wanted to add a little more about the job I do, I work in a long term care psychiatric facility, the unit where I was working at the day I made the stupid decisions of signing the MARS the night before has patients where the majority of them are aware of all the medications they take on a daily basis so they will tell you something is missing or if you are giving them something extra, I DID USED THE MARS TO PULL OUT MY MEDS, also the facility where I work is sad to say but is a very corrupt facility by corrupt I mean that since I've been working there I have seen Medication that are due at 1800 being pass @ 1600 and that ones due at 2100 get pass at 1800-1820 of course I have never said anything because besides being new I'M THE MINORITY. Since I started working here as an LVN (was a CNA here before) I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED REAL HARD TO BE ONE OF THE "GOOD NURSES" AND DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY, so the mistake I have made has really affect me because I felt that I have let down the residents I care so much for, and I have probably made the DON think that I'm careless and like to take short cuts, and like I said before I HAD ALREADY TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY for what I have done, I have not denied it, and I DO NOT THAT WHAT I DID WAS REALLY STUPID, AND I WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN, but besides being worry about getting fired I'm really concern about the facility reporting to the state I don't know what I would do if that happens
  14. Hello there I understand that I'm only PRN but they were doing this even when I was working full time, they started cutting all my hours and I ended up being part-time because according to them they didn't have no schedule, after part-time they cut my hours down to on call, these are the reasons that I feel something is not right, I have have perfect evaluations in the pass so I can come up with a reason they would be doing this. regards
  15. Hello there I'm doing that already I'm really tired of this place and how corrupt they are so is better to move on than to stay there and be miserable.
  16. Thank you for the reply I have taken responsibility for it, I'm seriously really scared of loosing my license over this mistake, I shouldn't have never done that, but I was really tired from working pm and morning shift.
  17. thank you for all the advice and the reply, of course I have learned my lesson, like I said I'm new so I learn new things every day, this sure won't be happen again, and I have admitted my mistake already, I have talked to the DON this past Friday, and she has remove me from passing meds for the rest of the month but has allow me to do treatment so hopefully I won't get fired, but at this point i seriously think I deserve to be fired since I know the consequences of the mistake I had made.
  18. hello there thanks for your response I have contact HR but they have done nothing, I was thinking of contacting corporate but I'm afraid they won't do anything either i'm just so frustrated at this point I don't know what else to do, I mean non filipino employees have gotten fired just because these people don't like them I feel so lost and helpless
  19. OMG I'm glad to learn that i am not the only one with this problem, but I'm sure you don't have it as bad as I do girl only advice look for another job, not sure if it will help since you are going to come across this a lot since there is a lot of them out there, it sounds like your company is just like mine, my company doesn't write them up for speaking tagalog in front of patients or while at the nursing station, they are aware that they don't suppose to speak in their language but they still do it, and is so annoying and disrespectull, I don't think is an issue or "fitting in", I think that issue here is that you are in the USA, you are fluent in English, and most important YOU ARE PROVIDING PATIENT CARE and speaking in tagalog like somebody else mention here is a patient safety issue wish you the best but is only going to get worst specially if your facility doesn't do anything about and if they are the majority they pretty much own the place that's how it is at my job and I can't wait to just leave and pray that I won't be dealing with this issue for the rest of my nursing career wish you the best of luck you are going to need it.
  20. Hello! I'm a new LVN who works in a psych facility, I have been working there for two years, the first year I worked there part time as a CNA while getting through the LVN program, after I got my LVN license in May I got hired as a on call LVN around July I was usually getting 64-72 hours per every two week pay-period, everything was going wonderful until I got moved to the A.M. shift recently, I work in a facility where 99.9% of the employees are Filipino and I started working the AM shift a few months ago, I knew from back when I was a CNA that they had some kind of drama going on between all of them, and I also knew that they like to start rumors and get people in trouble specially people who don't like to socialize with them or are on the quite side, last month I notice that my schedule change from 72hrs to only 38 and when I went to speak with the DON she told me that the reason for me getting less hours is because my fellow CNA co-workers complained about me being mean when I don't even have time to talk to them unless is something work related, also I've noticed for a while that the new Filipino employees get more hours than me even when I have more seniority, also my fellow co-workers don't like to get reminded that they don't suppose to speak their language while their on the floor or providing patient care, so now I can't not even tell them that because they go straight to the DON and make stories up just to get back at me I mean is this legal? can I get my hours cut for supposedly being mean without my employer doing an investigation? Please help any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  22. hello everybody well I'm a new LVN in California I have around 10 months of experience, and I felt that I have done the worst mistake ever in my life, here is the story hopefully I can get feedback as I'm freaking out thinking I may get fired. Two weeks ago I worked the 1500 to 2330 shift at my job, I was schedule to come in the next day to work the 0700 to 1530 shift at the same medication cart I had the night before, I was so tired that I decided what the heck I'll just sign the MARS Tonight and just document any med refusals or anything else if they happen tomorrow, big big mistake of course, my employee cough that and I ended up being suspended for 4 days, being accused of falsification of documents and since I'm only on call I'm not getting any days for next month (April) I have a meeting with the DON on April 4th and I'm sooo afraid that I might get fired , this is the first time I have done this so I'm not sure what is going to happen, please any advice is welcome so help me ease my pain and worry. thanks
