does anyone know what cedars does for scrubs/uniform? I didn't see any information in the packet about that. Also, do all the papers that require a signature get turned in when we meet with HR?

I'll be on the NICU (4N), nights too!

Hi cas0503. we are going to be starting July 1st, but we don't yet know what unit we will be working on. Hopefully that information is to come soon. During the first round of in-person interviews, we each put our unit of choice on the cover page of our packet. (if you get invited to interview, this will all make sense :)) During interviews, they ask you what unit you would like to work on as well. I hope that helps!

I received a call last night in regards to my background check. The HR lady on the phone needed more information about some of my past jobs. I also got the skills survey email for reference check. I imagine once our references and background check are complete, then maybe they will send us the official job offer documents.

I received an offer this morning too! Couldn't be more elated. I'm so sorry for those who didn't make it; they really dragged out the whole process.

I didn't hear anything. the wait is killing me. it's got to happen tomorrow right?!

update: I just got through to nurse recruitment and was told it would be sometime next week. they couldn't say whether it would be early or late in the week. boo.

i just tried calling HR to ask about the time frame, but only got a voicemail. did anyone have any luck?

The nurse manager interviewing me said less than 2 weeks. From previous cohorts it seemed to take about a week. I'm hoping for sometime this week!

when I called last week to ask about the time, they said that once everyone RSVP's (by the 22nd) they would then be sending out more specific times. He said the event would start at 2pm. With that said, I'm guessing we won't be hearing about times until Wednesday.

Hi all! I interviewed for the NICU today and asked at the end when we would expect to hear about whether we get an offer or not. Donnya said they were reviewing applications this Friday and would likely be making calls early next week. So, we don't have to wait to long!! (at least NICU applicants) Best of luck :)

NICU was my #1 choice and I haven't heard a thing. Sort of giving up hope at this point.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I turned down my offer from OHSU for summer entry. I already accepted at another program for a Fall start. Anyway, best of luck to those on the waitlist and know that there is one spot open from me :)

Seriously lots of waitlisters so far! Do they give you a waitlist number? I'm in California so the anticipation of the letter coming isn't too fun...I'm guessing another day or 2 until I hear.

For those who got accepted into the program, did you receive an email as well as a mail letter?

Wow, another week!? This is serious torture. Anyone know the class size for the absn program?

I learned a lot about the JHU program at the panel, which is the first part of the accepted students day. So, don't worry about having too many questions prepared because there are many other people in the room to ask questions to the current students and faculty :) A few things I learned: class size is 50-70, in lab there 6-8 students; the most intense part of the program is the first summer (in class 9-5 everyday learning all the basic skills); there are some cool elective courses like alternative medicine, breastfeeding, and interdisciplinary curriculum with current medical students; they have a shuttle that runs along the main streets up from charles village to the hospital every 15 minutes; you get 112 hours in each clinical rotation (and double the hours with adult health); they have a career fair every Fall and will help you prepare your resume and practice for interviews. Hopefully, some of these things will help spark further questions at JHU or will give you some ideas for OHSU. And, I'm sure you will learn lots more at your panel discussion!

Hi embracechange. I like your screen name...that is the right attitude to take :) I actually attended the accepted students day in March and did the neighborhood check-out then. You are planning on looking at the right areas, but you could also check out Patterson Park and Butchers Hill near Fells Point. I have heard all the wonderful things about the JHU program, but I really haven't heard much about the OHSU program. Do you have any information as to what makes their program so great?

Hi Areawoman, Congrats on your acceptance! Just to clarify, did you have to notify them by March or April 16th? I'm doing the waiting game as well... :)
