  1. Hey Jhaupert813! I wish you the best of luck as well! Developmental Psychology was one of my favorite classes!!! You'll love it!
  2. Well everyone, it seems that this will be a very busy semester!!! Lol we can do it!!!
  3. Hey everyone! I was just wondering what you guys are taking this upcoming semester. We can reply here and just check up on each other! I am taking Chemistry, Microbiology, Statistics, and Nutrition! I am prepared to whoop this semester's butt!!! Lol :) also has anyone taken Stats yet? Any pointers? Was it hard? What about the other classes I'm taking? Let's discuss!!!
  4. Wow. So because I ask what you mean by chemical structure, I'm immediately unsuitable or incompetent for nursing? That's hilarious & nice to know by the way. Thanks for that. And although you didn't say I was, I know what you are insinuating. Repolarizes? Yeah, I knew what that meant. Of course i did. I think Chemistry should be required but a little fear of the subject does not make us dumb or unfit for nursing. All of what you explained in your previous post, I understood. That's because of a great background in A&P 1 & 2. I really don't like when people try to undermine or make someone feel lesser than what they truly are just because they may be a little hesitant or uncertain about how to approach a subject or about a subject as a whole. You're like some of the kids I take classes with whom look at you with disgust or shame when you ask the professor to go over something again or if you ask him a question regarding the previous topics you covered before. Do I like Chemistry? No. Lol. It's my very very least favorite subject. But, I won't let anything stop me from being a nurse. I will take on Chemistry and I will excel at it. I will feel very good about it and I will be one step closer to helping the millions of people who may need my help. People want nurses whom of course are smart, (which you obviously have no trouble in that area right?) loving, encouraging, compassionate, and uplifting. Did I mention uplifting? To all my fellow pre nursing students we can do this. I love to encourage people. But hey you guys be sure to tackle that Chemistry because if you don't you're an inadequate human being who should probably think about another profession because you won't be the type of nurse that people "want." Oh how I love my sarcasm. Not replying to this particular thread anymore! :) see ya guys on other threads:)
  5. Elaborate when you say "chemical structure."
  6. Yes!! Good to know that I will survive Pharmacology!!! :)
  7. General Biology was not hard at all to me. I took it with A&P 1, English comp 2, general psychology, & I did great. Biology is basically the study of living things so I was very interested in it. It is not boring at all. I love genetics, mitosis, meiosis, genotypes, phenotypes, and the cell of course. You'll do great! Go for it!
  8. This is my last semester! I refuse to let Chemistry stop me from starting nursing school!
  9. All the schools in my state require Chem. I heard a rumor that they are going to require Chem 2 next. Lord help us all.
  10. I hope you get into the ADN program too! Interviews can be extremely overwhelming and intimidating!!
  11. I am so glad my schools don't conduct interviews. I always find myself flustered and stumbling over my words. Sometimes I can't think of what word to use or I feel like I am repeating myself almost as if my vocabulary has been reduced to 10 words. Smh.
  12. Good luck!!!
  13. Wow, X_factor. Me and you both have quite a load. Or as i like to call it....overload. LOL! We can and we will do it though! General Biology isn't a pre req for your program? It is for mine. Micro, Chem, General Bio, A&P 1, and A&P 2 are the requirements. At least we will be busy this semester!
  14. *whew* thank goodness. As you can see I tend to worry a lot! Lol bad habit!!!
  15. I have a question. Do nursing schools take into account the number of hours you have already completed??? I have seen more than one person mention this. If that's the case, i am worried because I have 17 hours left that I am taking this semester! Though they are my last classes, it is still 17 hours! What if other applicants have fewer???
  16. Yes, I have a backup plan. Lol I hope I won't need it either!! Well the two schools that I applied to are BSN programs. I pray I get into at least one of them. If not, (but hopefully I will) my back up plan is respiratory therapy. I am going to apply to the respiratory therapy program at my school. It's really competitive. Whatever happens, in the end I will be making an extraordinary difference in the lives of people I meet. Wherever GOD leads, I will follow.
  17. CONGRATS!!!!
  18. Thank you so much Nurse2b7337! I support ya'll too!!!! We will be accepted! I claim it!!!!
  19. I submitted my nursing application to my first choice school the week before Christmas. I will be notified in March. I'm applying to another school tomorrow and I find out about that acceptance sometime in April. This is my last semester so I also need great grades in these pre reqs. I won't be worrying about whether I get in or not because the courses I am taking will be a total distraction. I am taking Microbiology, Chem, Statistics and Nutrition. YIKES!!! Lol I hope I get in though!!! Fall 2013 :)
  20. This is interesting . I volunteer at the hospital but I have not shadowed before. I think I should now. I thought about ER & ICU but what if the spark is not there for me either? However, cardiology has always been interesting to me. What did you enjoy about cardio pulmonary? Sorry about all the questions! Hope I am not annoying you.
  21. Why did you hate ICU? & why didn't you like the ER?
  22. I am considering being an OR nurse. But once I have children, will it still be convenient? What I mean is, suppose that I work the day shift. I know that surgeries take an extreme amount of time. That means I will have to stay instead of leaving when it is time for me to get off right? I feel like once I have kids, who require being picked up from school and looked after, OR nurse will not look so satisfying.
  23. I love answering this question no matter how many times it is asked :) lol I have always wanted to be a cardiac nurse. I definitely want to work in the cardiac intensive care unit. The heart is a fascinating and very pivotal organ. However, people always tell me how once you start clinicals, your mind will change.
  24. I am taking Chem in the spring also. Go to khanacademy.org. It is a great site. I took introduction of chemistry last semester and one thing i can tell you about Chemistry is that you CANNOT wait until the night before to study for a test. Not even a week or two weeks before. After you leave the class, go home and study and go over whatever you learned in class that day. You have to always stay on top of things in Chem.
  25. I am taking general chemistry this semester too. My dilemma is that there are only 2 teachers teaching general chem in the spring. One of them is a really hard teacher whom is really tough and unhelpful. He has bad reviews and I refused to sign up for him. The second teacher is great! He does all he can to help you and his office is always open. He really cares. Here comes the problem. The horrible teacher's class is 16 weeks, which of course is a whole semester. The nice teacher's class is only 8 weeks!!!! I am terrified!!! I can't take chem in only 8 weeks!!! Especially since I know how challenging it is and how much effort it takes. I sure don't want to take the hard teacher either. Ugh
