  1. So I had the same problem with all scrubs when I was pregnant. I used a belly band (target sells it as a b band). It really worked well when my pants wouldn't stay up! Similar to the cami idea, but not a whole shirt.
  2. I'd switch majors. I'm currently going back to school for nursing ( I have a bs in chemistry). It would have been so much faster to just switch over, even if it means taking a heavier course load, taking summer classes, and adding a year onto school.
  3. For me, it would depend on whether waiting makes a difference in whether I make the application deadline or not. Map out your schedule in both scenarios. Will waiting cause you to wait a year before you can apply? While newborns are a lot of work, they mostly sleep, eat, and poop. I think enrolling part time would be completely doable. And it might give you a little break from mommy hood.
  4. I would send someone in the department a quick email. That way you know for sure!
  5. I too have a bachelors in another field. I am currently getting my RN and then immediately getting my MSN instead of getting my BSN. As for the ICU question, I have no advice but would love to hear some. I also would love to work on an ICU floor, but am worried that as a new grad I won't have the oppurtunity.
  6. Yes, I would take genetics. At least it covers how genetic disorders and how they are inherited. I found that so interesting! Cell biol is cool too, but there is nothing that I can think of from cell biol (that wasn't covered in gen biol) that can really be useful in nursing school. But in the end, you should really take what really interests you since neither is required for nursing!
  7. If you have someone to watch your child, I would do the on campus micro. I know that all the nursing programs in my area require at least the labs to be done through an on campus site. I find that sometimes its easy to have a scheduled study timeaway from home, otherwise there is just too many distractions.
  8. I also read that article today. I have heard that this was the case, but have been in denial. Freaking out just a little over here... I am scheduled to start the ELMSN program at PLU, so I'll be getting my RN in late summer or early fall of 2013. I am freaked out a little. I will have way too much student debt to just not work for a year! I'm just hoping that the recession recedes faster than expected! I don't care that there will be a huge shortage again in 5-10 years. I need a job next year!!!!
  9. There are so many programs out there. It seems like each one is looking for a slightly different candidate. Recognize your strengths and highlight them! I recently was accepted into a program that wasn't looking for experience, but that you were able to handle a heavy workload of an accelerated program, and that you are passionate about becoming a nurse.
