  1. You have a chance at VA hospitals, its always open and its a federal job
  2. In Houston there is Memorial Hermann, HCA hospitals has tons of opening in diff locations too, Cypress Fairbanks, North Cypress, St. Lukes, Methodist Hospital, Austin area im not sure but Scott&White accepts all the time new grads! You guys just need to get that new grad window , once u got 1 yr ur ok to go anywhere except CA coz theyre just always souch competition there its impossible sad to say, Good luck.
  3. Houston like Memorial Hermann, HCA hospitals, Cypress Fairbanks alot, im not sure Austin but I know Scott&White always have new grad
  4. bad choice San Diego is nice im from there but no opening unless ur experienced nurse. My advice get in as a Cna then u got a chance
  5. Im from Scripps and i went to that new grad but i needed to move to Houston, TX... if u guys are trying to get in a new grad you guys need to consider Texas coz there is soo much here to apply at. Sad to say CA especially San Diego is very limited in New grad training for RN's good luck to u all
  6. I heard the program here is awesome but very competitive and stressful. Good luck on you all!
  7. We are moving in Houston area in 2 months, thank God it was easy to find a job over there knowing I have less than 1 yr experience. Im torn between Memorial Hermann Memorial city med. center or Conroe Regional medical center? Conroe is booming they said and schools has such high ratings, I dont know about Memorial. Though Memorial has been there for a long time. Anybody familiar of these hospital in Houston TX area?
  8. thank you guys for your advices...really appreciate it. I have 6 yrs experience as a Unit secretary at the same hospital then 7 mons RN. Lying is not a good idea, just desperate to move. Im not happy with that place and very exhausted. I know I'll eventually learn to manage it. Thanks again for all your replies.
  9. I just need some advice cause i barely finished my new grad training and only got 7 months of RN experience, then got news that my hubby needs to transfer to Houston for better job opportunities, ive been reading alot of peoples concern that there are not that much jobs around, is it ok to say in the resume that i got 1 yr experience so atleast employers would even consider me? I know its bad to lie but in our economy right now its like you really need to do everything? would they find out?
  10. As what i have heard from my manager, as much as possible try not to get hired by subacute hospital like Kindred or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) because once u start working there your not considered a new grad anymore and ur experience is not counted because its not a hospital setting. I know its hard to be picky right now coz its hard to find new grad Rn jobs but what can you do? ...
  11. I' ve been seeing newgrads volunteering in hospital and introducing themselves in the floor. In this way you set your foot in and get hired! Good luck to all!
  12. I got a call today and said theyll email me for interview on April 16!!
  13. I applid last Mar. 23rd i havent heard anything yet im still praying!
  14. I applied for April/ May new grad too, and i havent heard anything yet also ?
  15. Im fr San Diego n i work at scripps. Im barely getting in their new grad program after 1 1/2 yr of gradustion, i wasnt lucky gettin in. Finally! I got in cause im an internal employee. Its very bad here right now. LA has more openings, i suggest think very good before applying here. I know a lot of classmates who still didnt have a job n we graduated Aug 2011.
  16. I suggest you should get the temp TX license. The least likely you dont want to happen is you have no temp license while other applicants do. It is expensive but you will gain it back once you get a job.
  17. I applied TX Rn since January it took 1 1/2 month to process. Most of the jobs posted is saying needs TX license to apply, i know its a lot of money but if you want to get that job you must invest thats just me... Good luck..
  18. hi im new here what does DFW mean..im not from TX im sorry but planning to move there this June...
  19. @rnliz21 I just got my TX endorsement too here the link to that TX BON http://www.bon.texas.gov/olv/endorsement.htm and go under number #4, if you are residing outside TX you have to request and fill out online that FBI printing card. Then pass that Juresprudence test. You will get a mail for your temporary license but that temp license is only good for 120 days, fill out the Endorsement application online its $200 fee, for the finger printing once you recieve the FBI printing card just go to any polce station it just cost me $25. Then download the form in TX BON website under Verification form fill it out and send it to CA BRN it cost $60 and takes 6-8 wks process. My advice to you when you all mail all these forms request at the post office signature confirmation or any tracking info so you know that you stuffs are all recieved by TX BON...good luck! mine took 1 1/2 month. But then I always check the TX BON website under check endorsement application (it will show there the dates they got your stuff) then if you know its all complete check the verification license link to see if you got your permanent TX rn license...good luck again!
  20. Im a new grad here in CA and applied TX endorsement license. I just recently got my TX rn license, and my family are moving back to Houston. I just applied to MD Anderson, Memorial Hermann and Cypress Faibanks new grad programs. Does anybody know if me being an ADN graduate will give me a less luck of getting in any new grad programs in Houston? And where else should I apply? Our home is at Cypress (Houston). Can anybody help me...im desperate to get a job...
