Insurance for self vs my LLC???? HELP!
Hello! I own a LLC and currently have malpractice offered through my contracts (I work as an independent contractor). I am branching out and am starting aesthetics and house calls. I have a supervising MD> Do I need to insure my company (llc)? This covers the company (me and med director) in cases of malpractice but the lowest quote I got was 5k/yr. OR Can I just buy insurance for myself as an APRN (400/yr) and see if my med director would be covered by the insurance she already has for herself? I can also buy her a supplemental insurance which would probably be cheaper. What is the difference?

CNS not recognized
I am moving to RI to be with my husband after finishing my MSN. We will live next to Massachusetts. I am currently getting my adult gero CNS...I love this degree in Texas because it's APRN...in RI and Mass, it's not even recognized APRN! Not sure what to do since I want to prescribe and diagnose patients outpatient. That is why I am in school-second career. Do I continue my program? Do I quit school and start a new NP program in RI to be with my family? I can't even work as a RN there because my program only certifies me as an RN in Texas and not in other states. I don't have a BSN. I have a BBA in Business. I'm so sad and frustrated with this!

From CNS to NP - UMass Boston?
Has anyone done an online program? I a Clinical Nurse Specialist student (I've taken all my classes literally with FNP students). I would like to get my NP online in a short amount of time since I will be already an APN in my state (I am moving and need the NP to practice in the new state). Did you do the UMass boston program? Has anyone who is NOT an NP done the 12 hour option? For example a CRNA to NP I want to know if I qualify? I have all the admission requirements for the NP 12 hour option but they keep telling me I have to take 21 hours and I don't understand because I have all the classes and experience for the 12 hour! Thanks friends!

New Facebook group for CNS
Have no fear! All you have to do is apply for NP jobs and write on your resume and cover letter that you are an APN! Say that you HAVE PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY, since that is all they are looking for. Perhaps it says NP b/c it's more popular and the HR people dont know about the CNS role...just enlighten them! don't spend all that money on an NP degree...it's basically the same thing!

PASSED NCLEX second time with this study plan
The first time I took and failed my NCLEX after 110 questions, I was shocked. I was a great student (all As a few high Bs). I did awesome in clinical. I studied all of May with Saunders and got 65% or more on all practice exams with Saunders. I burned out in June and only did 25qs/day and took nclex at the end of June and failed. Then I signed up again for the nclex and gave myself 3 weeks to prepare (I do better under pressure). I started by reading 50 pages of Kaplans Newest textbook 2013-2014 and I did 5+ chapters from saunders DAILY. After I finished Kaplan (but did NOT take the 2 full practice exams), I did 3 chapters DAILY from Priority and Delegation by LaCharity while I finished Saunders. The week before the test (on Friday) I took one of the practice tests from Kaplan on Monday. Studied La Charity Tuesday. I took the second practice test from Kaplan on Wednesday and relaxed Thursday (just reviewing the stuff I struggled with). I took the test on Friday and passed! ADVICE: Saunders: use for content. These questions ARE EASIER THAN NCLEX. Don't let that freak you out though if you start studying saunders first and don't know the answers to all the questions. Just read the chapters and do the chapter quizzes. The medication chapters are too in-depth. Focus on the meds that kaplan emphasizes (ABs, psych drugs, cardio, some pulm). Kaplan: VITAL TO PASS NCLEX. I failed the nclex the first time because I didn't know how to answer these type of questions, I KNEW the content. Kaplan teaches you how to answer nclex questions with a strategy. Questions are similar to NCLEX or harder. LeCHArity: VITAL to pass nclex. If you need delegation/prioritizing help...READ THIS BOOK. It's got questions that are harder than kaplans. FYI I passed nclex second time in 75 qs and thought it was easy. good luck!

FNP new grad -- offered a GI job -- should I take it?
OP, ALWAYS negotiate your salary. Even if hubbs has a good one. We aprns as a group need to raise our salaries or at least keep them from dropping.

Can adult health CNS practice psychiatry?
-
Respectable salary for an Urgent Care?
YES! This is WHY we aren't getting the same pay! NEGOTIATE people!

What was your first NP job?
I think we, as APNs SHOULD negotiate higher salaries. We sell ourselves short. Listen, you ARE in-demand. When we ALL don't negotiate and allow others to low-ball us, then it brings all our salaries down. Negotiate and know your worth. Always ask for more than you think you'll get. A good employer will negotiate with you, not laugh at you.
