On the unit alone? I must say that is one policy we have a agree with you can never be on unit alone with pt. I still don't really get it tho b/c you can go down halls exam room ect by yourself and pt??? Not a safe situation either. Discuss!

YOu just described a psych unit as your job but more ;-) GL I have found it hard to go from psych to any other nursing. They say once a psych nurse always a psych nurse but I still don't know why lolol!~

I love playing with the kiddios esp the babies 4-12. It is really an eye opener to what most of these kids have been thru. I could not even imagine it. Most importatantly is to listen talk and be playful then you will do alright. Last thing you need to be is stern non-smiling and demanding. They will respect well sorta lol for just being you. Its fun to me if I could just get over the staff I work with i would truly love my job.

Way to easy if you ask me. Where I work it's about bodies and it's a tuff place to work. I'm seasoned and I still suck at it.

I so feel you. I went back to s state psych job that I quit over 10 years ago. Times ruff I had been out of nursing so no one want'ed to hire me. Well it's kinda like a time warp but more dangerous. The new model is talk talk talk till you turn blue. On the other hand I really love my job I work with the kids yes they are mega sick but they are awesome in thier own right. Never a dull moment but it's the STAFF i work with that sucks. Reason I quit first time prob the reason I quit again. They just bring people off the street it seems to have a body quota. They not nice people even sups suck and not to be judgemental they are all huge and sit around all day eating and talking and texting on their phones both be no no's. When you question them or reprimand they go psycho. They are wayy more problems I think then the actual patients. It's to bad cause I really love my job. Anyway thanks for listening and yes I need a new job too.
