Could my license be at risk?
They say you are not supposed to do homecare until you have one year or nursing experience. Which I can understand. Because you are alone. You need to know what to do in an emergency situation. But there should be guidelines for you to follow and you can always call the doctor. Listen everyone has to start somewhere. I think its a good opportunity to learn and a def place to start. Take it, try it, whats the worst that can happen? you don't like it or you don't feel comfortable. then either you ask for a different type of case or you quit and look elsewhere. Theres something to add to your resume. Everyone starts somewhere just remember that. I started like most ppl in LTC. Moved to NYC, went to an intense LTC/REHAB. I was the wound care nurse, never saw so much crazy **** in my life, then got promoted and worked in the admissions office as the admissions nurse and did marketing, and now I work at an assisted living facility as a supervisor. You never know where you will be or how you will get there. Just take the first step and get into it. Good luck. :)

Please Critique My New Grad Resume!!
your resume looks very similar to my first resume. Key to a good resume even after you gain a lot of experience is to keep it simple. if you had a ton of these coming through your fax machine you would want something clear and to the point and easy to read. I listed all my clinical exp as well on my resume. I think its good and shows you have been exposed to a lot of things. Just be persistant when applying, such as calling and checking the status or going in person, whatever you have to do to be persistent. ppl like that! they want to see intiative! you can sit at home all day and email your resume. sometimes you have to go out there and pound the pavement so to speak lol. its gotten me every nsg job I have had except the one I have now lol. So it def works. I wish you the best! good luck.

How do experienced nurses do it to memorize everything?
once you get report from the prior nurse and go ahead and make your rounds and put a face to a name you will remember whats going on with that pt. just do what has been posted prior. like on my report sheet that I took from the other nurse I will write silly little reminders about what happened that day and what tests were done and vitals and so forth. majors I always write down because then at the end of the shift its easier to write my nurses note or pass on all necessary info to the nurse. You will get the hang of it. We all do. And when your getting report ask questions ?!!?!? It will help you. :)

Can't get over my past
I used to hear about ppl getting fired and I always thought wow I have never been fired from any job since I was 16 and I could go back and get all those ******** job back if I wanted. Who knew that when I became a nurse-my career! That I would experience my first FIRING! LOL. I'm in NYC so the ppl that I deal with I find to be insane, no offense, not from here lol, but I told the scheduling lady to made me per diem that I could no longer work 2 days a week. Then a few days later the DNS/DON called me and said that she had been getting complaints from me from the staff that I was rude and what not and that she believes I did not give a patient a medication. So that she was going to have to let me go. You know what I told her- no problem! lol I took myself off the schedule anyways and that place wasn't for me. I was on a TBI unit-very different-interesting-but not for me. Listen girl, theres a time and a place for everything and I look at it as an experience. Luckily I had another nsg job because that was just for extra money but you know what. Getting fired isn't uncommon. You just think it wont happen to you. lol. But it can. And its not the end of the world! CHEER UP and move on. plus when you work agency your just needed when your needed. No biggie. Look for something more permanent :)

Job offer problem - Who would have thought? Time sensitive, please take a look.
If I were you, I'm not sure if this "rehab" is a nursing home type of rehab or a rehab that's separate from the hospital type thing. I would do a per diem at the rehab and take the hospital job. Most jobs look for that one year hospital experience. Its just something good for your resume that will get you into other jobs at say clinics or surgery centers so to speak.

Help!! No one will hire me
Try looking to get hired through an agency. Most say they want a year exp. But don't actually care. Try competent nursing located in brooklyn. They place ppl everywhere. It does take a while to get a job with no experience but don't give up.there is someone that is willing to give you a chance.

Plan to move to NYC with family - need advice
Hey there. You will make anywhere from $35-$50 an hr here. Depends on where you work. To live nicely here you need a combined income of $100k. Which sounds like you will have. Daycare is hard to get for a good price. It will be one of your highest expenses. Each elementary school has a parent coordinator which will help you find private baby sitters. I go through a private lady. She charges. $6/ hr. Which is fantastic. My friend also uses private daycare. Thry are cheaper and will watch your child past 7pm. Many nice neighborhoods in queens. Bayside,Astoria, forest hills,woodside,etc...at the end of the day you make more money Herr and will have more left over at the end of the month. Even after higher rent. I pay $2200 in Astoria. Prime location. 2 1/2 bedroom. 1 bath. Balcony. Access to backyard. If u call it a yard lol. Small square space with table and chairs ..nothing included except water. We make a little over a $100k together. You can do it. It'll be a fun experience. Any more questions ..just ask. Xoxo
