Anyone worked full-time, went to school part time, and get pregnant in grad school?
my BFF did B then C and she did fine. on top of that she moved in the middle of work, school, and 8 months pregnant. she is now working on her DNP and has baby #2, she said that doing it while the baby is a newborn is much easier, she works on school while the baby naps. you can do it.

Fall 2012 NP Applications
this wait is KILLING me!!!!! i have no clue how many people they interviewed, but now im starting to think it was a lot if its taking 3 weeks for a decision. and the more time that passes, the more i pick apart my app and interview and feeling like it sucked and i wont get in. im going to be crazy by the time letters are sent!!!!! this is horrible!!!!! how long has everyone been waiting (or waited if you already got a letter)?????

Fall 2012 NP Applications
bkennedy~ i wouldnt worry about the essay length. one school i applied to wanted a 5-6 page SINGLE SPACED essay, others wanted a 500 word essay....its just all in what they ask for.

Fall 2012 NP Applications
my gpa is very similar also....3.3 overall, 3.7 nursing. i interviewed with U of Missouri last friday. i initially felt very good about the interview. but as the days pass, waiting for "the letter" i feel more and more pessimistic. i had a bangin' essay, but otherwise feel very mediocre. le sigh. :/

Interview question for those who have been through it
I just finished up with my interview. I felt very prepared and felt like I answered all of the questions with pretty good responses. But, I'm just worried I didn't say anything that would make me stand out over the other applicants. That was actually one of the questions, and I don't think I had a stellar answer. I felt very composed and articulate. I really did the best that I could have hoped for, I was imagining much worse. Decisions will be sent out mid April. Although I feel like I did well, I still don't feel confident that I will make it. :/

how important are reference letters?
THey must have been ok, got me thru the first round and I interview tomorrow. I had 1 PhD former instructor from 12 years ago, a masters level nurse manager, and the HR director who has a masters in social work. They asked for 3 doctorate or masters prepared nurses, and that's what I gave them...2 nurses, 1 social worker. Oh well

MUSC DNP Program

Pre-Interveiw FREAK OUT!!!!
Am I stressing too much about my PNP/DNP interview tomorrow. I think I'm prepared, but afraid I will loose my train of thought because I'm so nervous and come across as a bumbling idiot! I know the interview is important, but am I putting too much pressure (which leads to anxiety) on myself????? I can't wait until its over! Anyone else stress this much over interviews????

Interview question for those who have been through it
excellent questions! thanks!!!! not planning on teaching....for now anyways. just getting the DNP because of the new requirements. i would probably have gone for a DNP anyways though to further my career and open up news doors past being a PNP.

Got an interview!!!! Now I need advice
Who did you interview with? What other questions did they ask?

Got an interview!!!! Now I need advice
Wish I could :/ it's not financially possible to travel from NC to MO right now. I'm assuming that they totally understand being that this is a 100% online program and most of the student population would be out of state. But I do wish I could.

Primary Care Pediatric NP - Current Job Market?
I have a PNP friend in SC. She started out at $50/hour in peds endocrinology, she has been a PNP now for 3 years and she makes $125/visit, 18-20 visits per day and only works two days a week....do the math....major bucks for the time she puts in!!!! I don't know if this is typical for experienced PNPs in SC or if she just got incredibly lucky, but she assures me that this is pretty typical in primary care. I'm (hoping) to start a PNP/DNP program this fall and in NC, I can't find much infor on NC PNP salaries.

Interview question for those who have been through it
I applied for the PNP/DNP program at University of Missouri (columbia). I got the call today for an interview!! I'm excited but worried. I know its not a gaurantee of acceptance, but what do you think the chances are of going through an interview and being accepted??? I'm not the greatest an interviewing, I don't respond well with off the wall questions. What types of things do they ask that I might be able to prepare for??? So nervous!

Got an interview!!!! Now I need advice
I got the call today from University of Missouri (columbia) for an interview for the PNP/DNP program!!! YAY!!! Just wondering what the odds are of getting an interview and actually being admitted. I know its definitely not a guarantee, but it has to be a good sign....right??? Anyone interviewed yet? What kinds of questions did they ask? The interview will be via Skype. Excited but scared to death!!!!

Salary for Homecare RN
oh and i work for advanced home care, i think they have a branch in that area. ive been with a couple of agencies and they are all basically the same
-
Salary for Homecare RN
i have been a HH nurse for almost 7 years. i am paid per visit and you definitely make more money this way rather than hourly. most places pay $35 for a routine visit, $65 for a recertification visit and $75 for an admisison visit. most people average 7-8 visits a day. i was paid hourly when i first started and was only paid $25/hour (although that was 7 years ago) there was no incentive for me to bust my butt to see as many people as possible. now being per visit the more i see the more i make....but on the other hand, no work = no pay. there are ebbs and flow with census and its usually feast or famine, but it averages out to 60-70/year.

DNP/PNP suggestion UofM vs South Alabama Online
yeah, USA is my last choice as they do not offer a PNP/DNP track. i would rather do it combined all in one. i dont understand why they dont, its the only specialty that is not offer with a DNP. but, unfortunately....cost is a major factor in my school decision. USA and UoFM are the only schools i can find that do not charge out of state tuition. the two schools in my state are over 3 hours away, making commuting impossible. i wish i had something that made me stand out in the crowd of applicants, but i dont feel like i do. yeah i have 10 years experience, but none in peds. USA doesnt require an essasy for MSN, so i wont have a chance to explain my interest in peds without actual work experience. :/

University of South Alabama Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program
mine was 3.3 total, 3.48 nursing :/ now i wish i had taken nursing school more seriously. i really could have pulled close to a 4.0 in nursing school if i had actually tried.
