  1. Does it matter as long as you have your license? Any branch that would automatically DQ me for a school of choice like this?
  2. They updated their website I think, but from the looks of it California is the only state that won't accept you at all unless you graduated before 2003 I believe. Note* I have never contacted the school and never went but this what I can tell from their site. Alot will just accept it but some require you to have a few hundred hours in your state where you get licensed up to having 2 years full time in your current state. Some require preceptorships but surely note impossible.
  3. Still young. Currently at ecpi lpn program but no classes I'm taking I think will transfer and I really hate working and going to school in person. When im done with the LPN program, I plan to work full time all the way through bsn and getting experience to save for CRNA school, because I don't plan to work then. Online is fine by me. So basically just take all lab required classes at a CC? I think I will do that before starting the program so I can go straight through. That's what I figured. What about English do you think it will be a problem transferring it from excelsior?
  4. I know nursing classes rarely transfer schools, that's not what I'm worried about... I plan to after finishing my lpn school get my adn and bsn through excelsior, going on to get my CRNA. To be safe what pre reqs do you think are mandatory to take at a CC for better acceptance into CRNA schools (ie, which math science, English classes)? Also, do you think humanities and fine arts will transfer from excelsior? Any help is appreciated. I am trying to get a long term plan together.
  5. My payments will be around $600/month, for 10 years, if I choose the route I'm taking. I'm in NC where starting pay is usually around $24. If I happen to have at least one kid in the future, do you think it would be considerable hard to pay off this debt and a lot of stress? Or would you guys find this manageable and wouldn't hurt much?
  6. Did you take the GenEd credits there too?
  7. How quickly can you really finish the lpn to adn program? I see some people posting around a year maybe less.. Is the year including the wait time for clinicals at the end?
  8. How closely are your 12 hour shifts usually? Do people usually do 3 straight 12s and call it a week? I'm planning to be a new RN in the future and trying to figure out how my life working nights may be, as far as sleep, family, social life.
  9. So do you guys think that I should do the Excelsior BSN/MSN or a regular 4 year if I choose to go the CRNA route in the future?
  10. Does anyone have a list of Excelsior "friendly" grad programs (NP & CRNA), that acknowledge the Excelsior BSN for admissions?
  11. Can't edit my last post on app. So basically the only two states with no way in for excelsior grads is CA and IL, unless you work for the VA or federal system, correct?
  12. This is only if you don't get required work hours in another state correct? Ex: If I graduated from EC and worked full time for one year in NC then moved to CA with atleast 1800 hours (just an example to surpass CA reqs for endorsement), should I have an issue with getting an RN license in CA?
  13. With this program, is it true you can just take all the exams without enrolling in the courses? Does your transcript look different either way? Also has anyone got their GenEd credits to transfer from excelsior (I'm pretty sure the math and sciences won't)? Bonus question: Since you don't recieve federal aid in the associates program, do I have to start payment on my school loans that I have already, or do they still consider me to be in school, even if I'm only taking the "credits by exam"?
  14. If I decided to proceed to med school I would enroll in a 4 year for the pre reqs, especially the sciences... or do you think just by getting the online degree its a long shot?
  15. Has anyone had any experience or knowledge with coming from Excelsior (or any accredited online program) and getting into top MBA program (or atleast a good known school)? Same thing for med schools? Also I know a lot of MBA programs have no pre reqs besides bachelor's degrees and med schools have their own courses for pre reqs... but do these type of grad programs makebyou have a certain amount of credits (like all GenEd requirements, including history, etc) or just the bachelor's from Excelsior and specified pre reqs is what I need? Again, any help is appreciated!
  16. Good luck! I am almost 100% on going. My program has everything included in 14months. Do you think being an lpn is flexible with schedules to work around school (& clinicals, if I do pursue RN). I assume I'd most likely have to become a "Weekend Warrior".
  17. Ahh $8.25 would definitely not work for 3 more years and to scared to room with strangers, especially in this economy. My gut is telling me to go to ECPI, because by this time next year I'll be better off (i hope). Do you know how tough it would be to be an LPN full time and go to college?
  18. I'm thinking of going to ECPI for the 1 year LPN course. I'm trying to become a stable as possible while being a student and trying to live on my own... 22, 23 next month. Can't go back home to momma ... My job has already told me that would pay me $16/hr once finished with schooling. Best thing is there is no waiting at ECPI and a start this fall. I will probably be 20k in debt by the end of the program, but you do have 10 years to pay off loans (right?), and I plan on deferring since my goal is to transfer right back to my college. Do you guys think it would be worth taking a year off to go to a vocational school knowing 90% of the credits won't transfer? As in will an LPN job be doable while going back to school to complete a degree? I don't know if I plan to become an RN, although its like a great career choice. Main reason to become an LPN is for enough money to be fully independent by this time next year..
  19. First and foremost Wake Tech does not have a waiting list! They actually use a point system, which I shall explain to you. The most points you can get is 270! To get the 50 points, you must score at least 70% on the test. It is recommend you take 8 classes, before applying for the Clinical Nursing portion of the program which is 5 terms. 2 fall terms, 2 spring terms, and 1 summer term. You must also being registered as a CNA, before applying for the clinical nursing portion, with at least 40 volunteer/working hours as a CNA. If you have anything other questions, just ask! I will also update if I notice I left anything out.
