Recommendations (studying content)
Good evening everyone, I'm an AGACNP student and wanted to know if there are any studying materials anyone can recommend? I'm finishing my second semester and we have the 3p's comprehensive final exam in May. I'm debating between purchasing the "FNP Mastery App" or "FNP Family Nurse Practitioner Prep". I also purchased an all access to APEA for 3 months as well. If anyone has additional recommendations, please let me know. -m

I'm Freaking Out and Frantic! Please, Help Me!
Wow, this article is amazing! I love it! I believe that as humans we always tend to think negatively, no? I know I do, especially when I was in school. I would always freak/panic during tests, it was horrible. And although I excelled wonderfully, I feel that my brain was altered unconsciously, bc now I panic for anything.. Ahhh, it's a work in progress, and mind over matter. Anywho, great post! I think everyone who is coming into this profession should read this, I'm glad I did. I'm starting nursing school soon, and I feel it gives good insight into the things that we will be exposed to. Well done!

MDC Spring 2012 Part Time Program
Hi Ladies, I'm sorry for the late reply but I've been busy with work, and at the moment, I'm getting ready to leave out of town (trying to get my vacation in before school starts! LOL). :w00t: Mishell: Mwen has pretty much covered your question regarding the uniform guidelines... As for the stethoscope, I've been told that the Littman II S.E., and the Littman lightweight II S.E., are both equally good. The Littman Lightweight stethoscope is more affordable in price than the Classic Littman II S.E. I've been recommended by several RN's at work to go with the Lightweight version. The only con is the availability of colors. You will find more availability in color with the Classic version.

MDC Spring 2012 Part Time Program
Hi Mwen, Sorry for the late reply.. As you may know, things got kinda busy over here. Anyway, I called MDC and they told me that they had not send out all the responses for the programs that I had applied to (FT & Accelerated). Well, now, I know this is erroneous information because orientation was today, and I still have not received a response..LOL It's ok, I'm in the PT program and truthfully, that's all that matters! How was orientation for you? It was very informative IMO.. I got a bit carried away at the bookstore (I wanted to buy everything) LOL Thank god I composed myself and decided to buy my books online!

MDC Spring 2012 Part Time Program
Mwen, Did you receive a call from MDC Med-Campus, today? I did. It was odd. I didn't answer, and they left a message saying that although I was accepted to the PT program, they still didn't know if I was accepted to any of the other programs that I had applied to. I thought this was very strange, especially when my advisor said that I was ONLY accepted to the PT Spring program. I'm going to call tomorrow to clarify things, let me know if you hear anything.

MDC Spring 2012 Part Time Program
Hi Lynn12, Well, as for me, I feel that the TEAS book gives you a great idea, overall, of what this entrance exam to the nursing program will encompass. I would brush up on math. The book (TEAS), gives you perfect examples of questions that will be on the test (i.e. fractions, percentages, algebra, basic addition/subtraction, etc). Reading Comprehension is another area of concentration (finding the main idea, what's an opinion, etc). Grammar is pretty self explanatory. You should be able to identify proper sentence structure, spelling and the proper use of words in sentences. As for science, well, that a whole another beast. You'll see questions pertaining to the field of microbiology (cell structures), chemistry (balancing an equation), anatomy & physiology and scientific reasoning. My G.P.A. for the program was a 3.8. My suggestion is to do good on your sciences, since MDC will be looking at your overall GPA on these courses.

You know, one of the nurses at work, recommended that I start reading any med-surg book..Do you have any recommendations on where these books that you've just recommended could be purchased (affordability is key). As for the encouragement, you're more than welcome. Positive energy is important for us, and for those who will be joining us.

MDC Spring 2012 Part Time Program
Hi Mwen, Thank you for the warm welcome! I am very excited. Just the other day, as I woke up, I yelled "OMG!! I'm going to be a nurse!!!" HaHa!! As for my nerves, I don't think they've kicked in, yet. They prob will, but on the day of class. Haha! I hope this program's pace allows you to juggle everything. I'm confident it will, just stay positive and determined! BTW, would you happen to know what the schedule would be like for us part-timers?
