  1. Congrats!! :yeah:That's wonderful. I bet it is an amazing feeling.
  2. Congrats!!! Studying for Health Differences now. Think I'm saving Repro for last since it should be my easiest..work maternity and teach prenatal class. So do you think the 2 you failed were the hardest of all? I'm going to do Chronicity after this one.
  3. Thanks! I studied 10 days but devoted all free time to it. I did make some of my own flashcards on the leaders and religious orders since I just couldn't seem to absorb them.

I'm only using Studygroup101 and the practice tests through Excelsior. I have a friends study guides from Chancellor's but haven't used them yet. I've read my people say they get books off Amazon or ebay. I've only taken Health Safety and Transition to the Professional Role so far but got As . Study time depends totally on how much you can devote to it. I didn't study for too many days (6 and then 9) but spent all my free time studying then. I'm banking on the rest being harder. Good luck!!
  5. Thanks everyone...I GOT AN A!!! Yay!! Super glad it's over too. Scheduling Health Differences for 2wks :)
  6. Taking Transition tomorrow . Will never be more glad in my life to have a test over with!! Holy miserable studying! 66% on first practice test and 71% on 2nd. I know they are not exactly indicative of the grade you will receive but they sure don't help your confidence levels :uhoh21: I'll let y'all know how it went :)
  7. I got a loan through Sallie Mae. They do have repayment plans where you can defer repaying until you are done or just pay the interest until you're done. Good luck!
  8. I sent you a pm :)
  9. Oh I've been out for almost 10 so I'm stuck taking it!! I'll be anxious to hear what you think of Chronicity!
  10. Congrats!! I take it Thurs. How was it? Studying this is boring me to tears! I have finished Health Safety too but will be taking Health Differences next. Good luck!
  11. I took the practice exam before studying and got a 73%, then after I got a 71% so I was discouraged too but went and took it anyway. I got an A on the test so I agree that the scores are not a fair representation of what your grade will be. Although I would study some more, 50 seems kind of low. The practice exams are a great resource though. Good Luck!!
  12. Googled StudyGroup 101 and bought the disc off of their site. Sorry missed that in my reply.
  13. I am. I downloaded the Study content guide off of Excelsior. Only took me 2 weeks for the first test. Dont' expect all to be that easy. I bought StudyGroup 101.
  14. I don't think Excelsior offers a straight LPN to BSN. Pretty sure you must go ASN first. Just took my 1st test, got an A From what I have read (and I research like a crazy person) if you really feel you need the College Network study material get it off ebay. MUCH cheaper. Many go with the StudyGroup101 notes and the practice exams are very helpful. College Network is a middle man. They simply sell study materials but with contracts involved. No more no less. I had schooling for nursing straight out of high school, 15 years ago, LPN school 9 years ago and I'm falling right back into the zone. If you are disciplined enough to learn the material it is a nice option. There are much more qualified people on here that have finished the program to help you out too. Good luck with your decision
  15. Hi! I just took Health Safety today so I'm relatively new too. I just googled StudyGuide101 and got the website. Paid for all nursing guides and had them sent on 1 disc. I just used that and the practice exams, studied lightly for 2 wks and got an A!! The practice exams are a must. A few qs are right off of it but gives you a definite idea of what they will be like. Also from what I found out and what I have read on here don't be surprised if your exam scores are 70s and you do great on the test :) You pay for the exam on Excelsior, wait 2 days for your authorization number and then schedule your test through Pearson Vue (closest to you), when it's convenient for you. You get your grade immediately after you are done testing which is great! Avoids unnecessary anxiety. Think I'm going to do Transitions next. Keep in touch
  16. Congrats on your A! :yeah:Thanks! That is helpful info. I take it next Weds. I got a 73 on practice A before studying and have been lightly studying for 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting the 1st test out of the way.
  17. Thanks so much everyone! I helps greatly to know others have done it in a year or less. I am determined!
  18. Hello All! Scheduling my 1st test, Health Safety, for next week. Took the practice test A before studying and got a 75 so I'm fairly confident I can be ready by next week. My advisor called me today and kind of took the air out of my balloon when I told her that I wanted to finish everything in a year (need info lit, 2 credits A&P, and nursing tests). Told her I could dedicate about 4 hours a day to studying and estimated that it would take me 14 months . Financially I need to be done before then. I know they say you should spend 130+ hours on each test but want to know how much everyone else did? I know it's very different for each person so that's why I want everyone's input please so I can get an average idea :) Thanks again Peeps!!!!
  19. Thanks! I'll try to keep up with both of you as we go
  20. After a few weeks of getting my ducks in a row I'm all set to get started. Anyone else just starting? I could use having a support group if anyone else is in the beginning stages Also for my experienced pros, anyone willing to share a list of the main text books they used? Waiting on my Studygroup 101 CDs to get here, will be purchasing the pratice exams and a friend who finished a few years back is willing to let me borrow whatever I think I can use. She saved everything. I know there is a TON of suggested reading in the content guides so if anyone could share the few they really thought helpful that would be GREAT:dncgbby:.....Oh and I just loved the dancing baby so I had to throw that in there:lol2:
  21. Oh lord that makes me sick. I wonder if it's too late to change. I talked to Wells Fargo and Sallie Mae and the interest rate was better at Sallie Mae. My loan was approved but not certified yet. Will be on Monday.
  22. Hey thank you so much!!! I thought that's what I figured out but it's nice to hear from someone that's been there :)
  23. Actually Sallie Mae seperated from the government in 04. I ended up on the phone with all involved most of today again and think I finally received the right answer. I had to be enrolled for the school to certify the loan so I went ahead and paid that fee. The school does not hold onto credit unless ask so they will send the check to me once the loan is disbursed. Hope this helps anyone else that is dealing with this. Going to start studying for my 1st test tomorrow!!
  24. Oh and did anyone do the Student Experience course?
  25. After spending the majority of the last 2 days on the phone with Sallie Mae and Excelsior I have to say I'm getting nervous about both of those decisions. Neither one of their customer services reps seem to have any idea what the h is going on. Anyway I was approved for a Sallie Mae Smart option loan today. They said the next step was they would contact Excelsior to certify loan and I guess they will the distribute loan to them. My question is I have not enrolled since the $975 enrollment fee is part of the reason I applied for the loan, will Excelsior still certify/accept the loan? And does anyone know how it works once they do accept it? Will they keep it and deduct as I register for test or will it come back to me and I pay as I go? I borrowed extra to buy a new laptop and help cover travel expenses for the CPNE. You all seem much more informed than those that are getting paid! Thanks in advance for any info!!!:)
