  1. I work as a hospice LVN doing 830 - 5 mon - fri daily visits, I also cover oncall mon - fri after hours and yes it is hard sometimes but I love the on call pay.
  2. i am an lvn in hospice in ca, i have pronouced 2 in the past 48hrs. It is done by.the nurse as a order that the dr signs later like a voice order
  3. Just got my 90 day review raise now I am at $20 / hr
  4. I guess I will hit my 1 year at this job and move to an area I can take school
  5. the school I went to is 250 miles away from where I live and work now. I moved after graduation for a great job opportunity.
  6. I have been searching as I live in an area that I can not attend a physical school and really want to start a bridge.
  7. got my LVN last july, worked assisted living for a short while, been in hospice just short of my 90 day review now and love it LVN CA = 19 / hr (40hr a week) mileage = 53 cents $2.00 / hr to be on call mon 5p - fri 830a
  8. I have run into so many foreign nurses lately most are all here on work visas. If we sent them all back there would be a lot more jobs for our workers. These people are working and sending the money out of the country hurting our economy 2 fold, whereas a local nurse with a job would spend the money here helping us.
  9. there is not enough jobs for even the US grads, I wish they would stop allowing foreign grads to come over and work these days!
  10. I do understand delegation, my NCLEX most definably did have tons of delegation questions. I just thought you were saying the NCLEX specifically discussed the role of the Med Aide.
  11. I found this after more searching - CAL. HSC. CODE 1569.69 : California Code - Section 1569.69
  12. There was nothing of it on my NCLEX-PN. that state chart states CA does not allow med aides. Is this true? Is there anywhere that states this on a CA state site? The facility I was hired to has a full staff of med aides handling pretty much all of the medication needs. If This is not legal I would like to know and get away from this quick.
  13. Why would non licensed staff be under the BRN? No this was not on my NCLEX-PN or in any of my schooling or continued learning. I am looking for a site defining the scope of practice in CA. I have found such items for med techs in other states but none in CA.
  14. Does anyone know the laws governing med techs or med aides in california? I have looked but cant find anything. I was recently hired as an LVN in an Assisted Living facility and oversee a staff of med techs and just want to know what is legal and what isnt.
  15. I have 5 years experience as an lvn and a years as a med tech but no one is willing to even consider me for work as an lvn now. You must have 1 year lvn experience to be considered.
  16. I love my Crocs and have had many different styles
  17. all jobs req 1 - 2 years exp new grads are left with no work. Im leaving the state as there is no work and cali is way to expensive.
  18. do you know how much LPNs in LTC are making out there?
  19. thank you, I have no problem with long term care and have worked in it a lot
  20. I am a new lpn with 5 years of CNA exp and a year of exp as a med tech passing and pouring meds. How hard will it be to land a job.
  21. Our third shift has 146 residents, there are 2 seatings for all meals, there all here till they die but we manage to wake and give as directed no problem. 56 of our residents are a locked dementia unit third shift covers both sides.
  22. all the orders we get state time except for prn meds. Must just be my facilities policy with the docs.
  23. we are given orders for a medication but must follow the pharm / drug guides unless specific written orders are given otherwise. Sounds like you are bending the rules because you know you are watched by the state like a normal facility. It is not bad / strange or harmful to wake them up for synthroid or fosamax that the guide specifies to take on an empty stomach before breakfast. Does you docs 8am orders state does not need to be on an empty stomach? If so I would take that to mean 8am med and breakfast is given between 830 - 9am sometime.
  24. My facility wakes all the residents on synthroid every morning about an hour before breakfast between 0630 - 0730 That is the way the orders are written, what happens when the state comes through and you are not giving it as ordered?
  25. you can apply for a ATT and take the NCLEX even 4 years after schooling
