  1. why is your husbands blood sugar 600+ you ask? ma'am, it could be that 5lb bag of sugar i found in his bedside table, and the frosted flakes in the closet. true story.
  2. HA!!! CC have less rigorous classes. Not one bit, day two you are on the floor. I will never forget the day that our 2yr program and the 4yr were doing clinicals on the same floor and I had to show them how to prime a piggyback ( they were in the 2nd semester of the 3rd year). Those snotty 4yr students thought they were so smart til we were running circles around them with our own patients, and they were doing vitals and hanging meds. Ok you get more class time in a 4yr program, 2yr programs toss your butt out there for real. Who's stupid, I make the same pay check the 4yrs do ;0
  3. had a older nurse give me 5 patients to her 2, when she saw the look on my face she was willing to take 1 more ( how sweet) that next day i got called into the managers office to find out that i hadnt done an ax??? took me a minute to figure out it was on the 1 pt that she took to make her assignment 3. she did nothing for that pt all night and tried to blame it on me. i had kept my papers from the night before to prove it. wouldnt you know it was swept under the rug, but they were ready to hang me.
  4. oh but i have so many..... having a psych pt crap in the sink just to make me mad, it worked!! having a pt covered in ants on admission. thinking i had escaped a loogie situation clean only to place my hand on my hip and feel the warmth, and sliminess of the loogie right there on my pants. having to scrape petrified loogie from an elderly pt mouth, while my battle buddy gagged next to me. walking into a rm of a naked psych pt who was trying to stab me with a fork, when her sitter finally got her settled, she sat her naked bum on the extra chair in the room without a sheet or anything. dont have to remind me to not sit in the chairs in the rooms!!!
  5. had a young female pt once who was c/o seizures, her seizures consisted of closing her eyes and waving her fists repeatedly in the direction of my face or clawing at her piv????!!!!! finally after one of her "seizures" she asked if she hit me and if she had, she was sorry. REALLY! after an entire morning of this the MD wrote an order for restraints. we explained to the pt that we were moving her to closer to the nursing station and if these "seizures" put herself or anyone else in danger she would have to be restrainted. WOW, can you believe there were no more???? now to the Thats not what she said.........the md came back that afternoon to talk to the mother of the young female. i stood in the room and listened to the MD explain to the mother that she felt they were a mental health issue and not medical, that they could be a "psuedo seizure" and there will be a psych consult. about 30 mins later i walk in to hear the mother explain to a family member on the phone that the MD described her daughter as having the WORST type of seizures possible that the doctors were afraid for her life. WHAT, that is not what she said!!
